Well, Ashland managed to put up some points on Johnson Central again, but still can't seem to stop their running attack. It's got to be a disheartening loss for the Tomcats considering how high everyone was on this team prior to the Ironton game, but hopefully they can get it back together, get the 2 seed, and put up a good showing in the playoffs.

JC had 3 touchdowns in the first 5 plays from scrimmage. Credit to Ashland for digging out of the huge hole they created, but JC stuck with their game plan and never looked back.

 

Hope #1 JJ Jude is OK. He took a wicked hit on the supposed fumble late in the game, and looked dazed coming off the field. Tough kid and terrific runner. He can't be arm-tackled!

Big win at Putnam. You win by 16 at Putnam, means you really won by 26, or more. Some odd calls tonight. More penalty yards against JC, true, but several came against Ashland at very crucial times. The officials totally disrupted any rhythm this game this game might've developed.

 

Anyhow, good job, Black. We ran all over the field with Jude and Hall and Bratton and Ousley and overcame any influence the officials might've had. Forced three picks by Hunter and a turnover on kickoff returns, and won it fair and square in enemy territory for what should the fifth consecutive district title for the black and gold. Makes an old alumnus happy inside.

Listened to the postgame show on the way back from Russell. Coach Hart sounded very frustrated. Didn't like a couple of key penalties called against the Tomcats, but was also upset that his team couldn't put a 48-minute game together,

Looks like "Johnsonville" is in the driver seat now to host the Birds in the region championship.

Well, I'm sorry to have to disagree with you but you're both wrong. Jude took the handoff and got some pressure behind the line of scrimmage, he jumped over a defender and was met about a yard past the line of scrimmage by the line backer # 53. Then like he always does he tried to break the tackle (this time by a spinning out of 53's grasp) just at that moment he was met by # 30 the safety. Now you can say he was on the ground if you want to, but one thing is for sure, he was on his feet when he got hit and he would have gained substantially more yardage, if not score, had the safety not sealed the deal. I'm sure JJ would agree with my analysis.

 

Anyway, I've seen the game film and we ran it back in slow motion time after time just to make acid sure before I posted this. It was a good clean, hard hit. You know, the kind that you J. Central fans are proud of?

 

The ball was knocked out and #80 picked it up and ran it back up field.
