  1. There should be 5A on the opposite side of that ring. Is that the level they will be playing next season?
  2. Don't be a big baby about it. Nobody said take it away from Daniels and he did not deserve it. I personally said that GPA had nothing to do with this award! Enough said!
  3. :thumb: :thumb: :thumb: :thumb: :thumb: East Bank, That is a good question. What were each of the 16 region finals teams playing. Lastly, what was the percentage in The girls state tourney? And in all other sports? RickyP, someone has told me in the past sometime that a public school has NEVER made it to the state Volleyball finals? could someone confirm this b/c Assumption is a private school true? RickyP is trying to stir with a big stick IMO
  4. When did this become relevant to a basketball award? Different schools have different academic standards and achievements. The question is, "What is his ACT or SAT score?" That would be a national standardized test which would be more impressive than a GPA from any local school. Bandit, If you want to go stat for stat. Neither would be POY, that award would go to Euton or Jackson from the Hill, so that is a worthless argument. I like both picks by the coaches, but I sure wish Rex Cooksey & Vanhoose got these awards.
  5. Intentional Foul, Don't take my comment as a negative. I loved watching him play every time I get a chance too. He is a great kid and athlete. Now with that said. All I am saying is that Drew has benefitted from being a very talented, composed athlete day in and day out and with that he has been given the "love" of the areas officials (may I add we are stressing 16th region here). This is NOT a negative comment!!! Everyone loves a winner, and Drew is a WINNER. Don't try to spin my words.
  6. Drew McDavid is probably one of the best "upstanding citizen" athletes this area has truly seen. He has tremendous work ethic, discipline, and great athletic skills. I will miss watching and reading about him on a daily basis. The only knock I have on him (and he has no control of this) is: There are many players and teams that always get "bad" calls against them, but Drew has always been a beneficiary of calls for him. I have seen him play very agressive and strong (over the years) and calls against him never been seen by the officials. Because of his great composure and talent, many officials have always given him the benefit of the doubt for the past two years and just let him play his game versus calling a "consistent" game against him and Ashland.
  7. When the pairings were determined, Vanhoose's season was terminated. Thus all the BGP predictions. IF, Vanhoose was available. Then I would stick to my original pick of Russell before post season started. Since he (Vanhoose) was finished, I resorted to my backup plan of Elliott. I have posted numerous times about Elliott's young talent and their ability to run the 16th for the next 3 years. So in conclusion, YES Vanhoose would have made a difference. But he was not available, so the point is mute. Thus, Elliott was the best team going into this tournament.
  8. ONETOYA, The one thing Ashland, Russell & Boyd have in common is they all was beaten by the Regional Champion! Doesn't matter what round it was in, they all ended their season with a loss. It was stated by BGP'rs when the Regional pairings came out: 1. Elliott had the worst draw possible. From round 1 on. 2. Boyd had the worst 1st round draw. 3. Russell had the toughest bracket. 4. Ashland had the easiest path to the Regional Championship. Everything worked out as expected, No surprises or upsets! Ashland, Russell and Boyd all Lost when they were expected too, and Elliott finished the job as they were expected too. Elliott handed each of the top 3 teams in the Regional their butts and there should be no excuses from anyone who watched the tournament unfold.
  9. BTW, We need to send a Congrads and Shout Out to the man who never forgets Sandy Hook. Rocky Adkins. He needs to bring these kids to the Capital and have them recognize for a great team and season.
  10. Great Job, Elliott!!! II believe I started a thread on "how good" Elliott was this year and how fearful they will be for the next two years also. I don't think ANYONE (Rose Hill included) can handle them the next two years unless a 16th region team receives an influx of talent or some players mature quickly. I don't see Elliott losing their 16th region stranglehold for two more years after this. Enjoy your trip to Rupp, It will not be your last.
  11. Elliott should IMO win, but will everyone get over the fact that Ferguson had the flu "last week". Most flu's last only 48-72 hours. That gives him 5 days to recover plus 2 games played since then. Either they win or they don't! NO EXCUSES. Elliott 64 Ashland 58
  12. hooter, I want to be the first to defend fball here. IMO he never once wanted to take anything away from Elliott's win today. He clearly stated that Elliott outplayed and outhustled Russell today. Elliott has the best team playing at the right time now and Russell just ran out of gas & luck. My top three from the 16th, were playing today in the semi's and IMO Elliott will win Monday night. After Elliott wins Monday and is in Rupp, they would have defeated the hardest road to Rupp; Boyd, Russell, and Ashland. (and if Ashland wins they would take the easiest path; Lewis, East, Elliott (only credible team)).
  13. If Russell scores 70 against Elliott I'd be surprised and shocked.
  14. Did he go out between quarters to practice his shot?
  15. Looks like a SOLID prediction to me too!!!:thumb: :thumb:
  16. My Rankings of the teams left: 1. Elliott 2. Russell 3. Ashland 4. Boyd 5. Rowan 6. East 7. Bath 8. Lewis
  17. Tied at 66 with 35 seconds to go!
  18. I have to agree with you here, but This thing will be wide open and very fun to watch.
  19. Ashland 60 Boyd 58 Midway 4th 3's galore
  20. Maybe a little away from the thread, but I see Russell still having a good chance to return to Rupp. My analysis, Russell can beat Lewis w/o Vanhoose (torn ACL). So this means they play a runner-up in the Regions first round that being (IMO: Boyd{or Ash}, East, Bath) and I like those chances for a first round win. So, the Region Semi's would be against: Ashland, Rowan, or Elliott. I think they can beat Ashland and Rowan, but they need luck to avoid Elliott before the finals IMO. If Russell gets to the championship game of the Region I see them using their experience and winning again, unless Elliott's super sophs show up and drill the shots all night long. Even though Vanhoose will definitely be missed, this team can win as easy as every team going to Morehead. The only team they need to avoid is Elliott IMO.
  21. You're right!! I just don't want to hear how I am bashing Fraley if I left that statement with just Fraley's name there. Mays is in the same boat as Dodd, great players good coach. I just think Cooksey "coached" better this SEASON. Fairview showed more progress from day 1 til tonite than any other team (besides Bath who is going to Regions) in the Region IMO.
  22. Where exactly is Tyler in basketball now? Anyone know actual facts of what he is doing now?
  23. After listening to the 64th game tonite, and even hearing what (many COY's) Biggs said about Cooksey himself, I will stick with my choice of Fairview's Cooksey! Next, I think we will find out how good of a coach Dodd is in the next 7-10 days, and lastly you see where Mays & Fraley are now. Best Coach, Rex Cooksey by far.
  24. What are you actually trying to say here Scooter? That sounds like a good thread to start and see what kind of hits you get. I am for sure every school has their business communities' support in many areas, as such does the school you support. As for the "bet" statement you made, Some may go with the "underdog" Elliott County the next two years.
