  1. Scooter, thanks for that clarification. But (you knew it was coming), Rose Hill has not beaten a team with a winning record on their home court this season. So does Gators statement really carry that much clout??
  2. Gator, when did this happen? I must have missed this basketball season somehow while sifting through all the posts and avoiding games. :jump:
  3. This is the Coach of the year IMO b/c "coach of the year" is the best coach, not the coach working with the most talent or who's team wins the most, But the BEST COACH who shows his coaching ability. Thus Rex Cooksey is best in the 16th on his coaching, not players, nor wins. Lastly, who mentioned in this thread would you consider not worthy of the Coach of the year (alpha by school): 1. Biggs (Ashland) 2. Mays (Elliott) 3. Cooksey (Fairview) 4. Dodd (Russell) 5. Fraley (Rose Hill)
  4. Does anyone know how many and who will be officiating this game? All I hope for these kids is they are consistent! Hopefully, the crowd contest is visible on tv, so everyone can enjoy it. I just hope BOTH schools cheer for their teams, not rude against the other and be fans not uncontrollably.
  5. RA09, I don't believe that Vanhoose was "held" to a low output as much as he had a poor shooting night (not the Elliott defense), as did many Elliott shooters had poor shooting nights also. To imply that Vanhoose was shut down is totally incorrect. Besides having to sit 1-2 minutes to change jerseys and 1-2 minutes fouling out at the end of the game, that is 4 minutes less playing time than he is use too. So there could easily be your 5.7 pts below his average you are referring too and not the Elliott defense.
  6. Officiating was "nasty ugly" tonight for both teams and I dont know who benefitted from this inconsistency. One ref in particular was way out of the loop on the what type of tempo the crew wanted to convey to the top 2 teams in the region. If the referee's region tournament vote was tonight, NOBODY would recieve any votes from area coaches IMO.
  7. Mrs. Don't take this wrong, but with only a meer 6 posts, I don't believe that you are truly informed with how awestruck many people are with this Elliot County team. I myself, have STARTED many threads on how impressive this team is. Many BGP posters have made many statements about the talent Rose Hill will have next year and for the next few years and they are calling on it to be a Big Blue Region for the next 4 years, but I contend that it will be Elliot's for the next 3 years GUARANTEED. Elliot is "The Team" to beat after this season (if not this year) so where you get that they are average, mediocre players who don't play defense is beyond me. Their coach has only been "Class" everytime I have seen him coach and if you view Cubster's (16th region guru) weekly poll then you will see they have ALWAYS been in the top 3 this season. Lastly, the reason why they are not covered in many local newspapers is because not many newspapers are being sold in Sandy Hook. This is economics, Ask any accomplished editor.
  8. Shooter, If Ky recruited "biggie" then I will become a Louisville fan.
  9. Does anyone know where I can get a breakdown of Rose Hill's game by game stats? FG-FA, Pts, Rbs. It seems that Armchair, Uncle Jed, Fastbreak, or RickyP could inform me on where to go to find this out.
  10. Does anyone know where I can get a breakdown of Rose Hill's game by game stats? FG-FA, Pts, Rbs. It seems that Armchair, Uncle Jed, Fastbreak, or RickyP could inform me on where to go to find this out.
  11. RickyP, as we discussed in another thread somewhere or another. I would call this victory a "signature" win for the young Royals on the season!
  12. That's why the Royals are Ranked #4! They deserve their rankings and should continue to be a factor in the districts and regions.
  13. End of 1st QTR: Russell 17 West 0 End of 2nd QTR: Russell 30 West 6 This game was over before it even started!! West fought through the humility and made it a respectable score in the end. I'm confused with the sideline tactics this evening, with removing the starters in the 2nd half when up by 20+, then when the second team squandered the lead to around 14 pts, the starters returned. I am not saying to be stubborn and leave in the second team and take a chance to lose a victory, but I thought there could have been more COACHING and less yelling and berating towards your kids. On a good note, Russell showed why they are #1 in the region as of to date with their first half performance. On the bad side, Russell showed that they can easily be lulled into going through the motions during the second half. I just left the game feeling a little confused and concerned. :creepy:  :jump:
  14. Greenup should be thankful Cubster ranks them at #6!!!! They could have been as low as #8 IMO. Things are going south for them on a daily basis, including their ranking in Cubster's poll.
  15. I don't see how Fairview has been "betrayed" by anyone, They will not be butchered by all three teams year in and year out any worse than BC. Have you seen BC play and some of their younger teams? Everybody will have to play each other and that leaves room for everyone to play their way out of the "last place" slot which means BC (IMO) can play their way out of the last place. EVERY team has their own destiny in their own hands. Plain and simple, if you want to advance to the Regions. You have to win at least one game (opening round of districts), so why is it so difficult to win 1, maybe 2, game during the regular season to be seeded 3rd instead of 4th? If you can't win a game or two in the regular season, then you're not going to win in that district first round, No matter what size of school or talent you have now or in the future.
  16. Has there ever been a #4 team pull of an upset in the 64th district, much less any district in the 16th region in the last 25 years? IMO, every district needs to be seeded b/c a #1 district team (regular season record) deserves the BEST opportunity to play in the Region tournament. The #2 & #3 district teams (regular season record) deserves NOT to play the #1 seed team in the district opener, and these two teams makes an excellent first round matchup in the districts and an even better District championship no matter who wins the other opener. Nothing against a #4 district team (no matter who it is), but they HAVE NO CHANCE IN HADES TO WIN THE STATE TOURNAMENT MUCH LESS THE REGION TOURNAMENT, so why does everyone say we should have blind draws just so a team can get beat out in the opener of the region. Kinda pointless to me!
  17. IMO, Greenup's problems are not necessarily b/c of Hicks. They are losing to good teams consistently. It's not that they are not good, it's just that they are not a top 5 or 6 team in the region. Hicks is a nuisance to people in GC not the basketball players. BTW, was he on the bench tonight?
  18. Does anyone know if it was a unanamous vote on seeding? or which "small" school changed their status?
  19. Ashland 53 Elliott 48 Ashland's pressing defense causes too much havoc for Elliott IMO.
  20. GottaRebound, Have you not seen GRC this year??? (At least last night) They were awesome. Mark my word, when they play Elliott Tuesday they will shut down Elliott's offense. I would be shocked if Elliott scores 50 against the defense I saw Ashland play last night.
  21. GRC, I apologize!! I thought they were chanting, "That was Sweet!" I have been downing their students too much this season and I was really looking for positives tonight and thought I found it, but I must b wrong again. Anyway, it was an entertaining game and I came away impressed with Ashland's Defense, Coaching, and hustle. I was extremely impressed with GRC's coaching, athletic ability and their sense of composure throughout the game.
  22. Huntington Kids still can't win a KY state title (6 years running!)
  23. DownHard, after returning from the Ashland-GRC tonight, I MUST agree with you on how well the cats are playing press defense at this part of the season. I think Ashland will shut down Elliott's prolific offense if they show up with the same intensity as I saw tonight. New Update: 1. Russell- predicting District Championship 2. Ashland- predicting District Championship 3. Elliott- predicting District Championship 4. Rose Hill 5. Rowan 6. East 7. Boyd 8. Fairview
  24. HC, you started this thread off with a lot of ammo. I was at the game and saw a lot of good things for the CATS. 1. Ashland Student Section IMPRESSED ME FINALLY tonight with Great school spirit and positive chants for their team. EVEN IMPRESSED when they positively chanted for Knowles after a two handed dunk. 2. CATS played great tonite (as many Catfans have been stressing lately) but was just totally outmatched by a very, very, very good Clark Co team. 3. CATS played the best defense I have seen in the 16th region as to date tonight. They moved, were in good position, and hustled all night long. 4. I don't know of any team in the 16th who could handle Ashland's press defense the way it looked tonight. 5. Knowles with 34, 7 three pointers. ENOUGH SAID!!! He is just that good. I totally believe that the Ashland-Elliott game will be unbelievable this Tuesday.
