  1. I agree!:thumb: IMO, there has not been a 4th place district team win a region title in the state in many, many years. So enough with the cinderella/hoosier story crap, just let them end their season early (as expected). The first place team should be rewarded with the easiest team possible to play. The second place team should not have to play the best team in the district in the first round and both the 2nd & 3rd place teams have the same chance to advance with a great matchup. Lastly, I don't know the money distributions from post season play, but I believe that would be the only reason why all districts don't want seeding. Their is a large payday if you make the region versus losing in the 1st round of district, thus why #3 & #4 teams dont want seeding. They want to play each other for a chance of the money from Regionals, not playing for championships.
  2. Mason goes for two and FAILSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!! Russell wins 27-26.
  3. TD Mason. Russell 27 Mason 26 Mason going for two. Russell calls timeout.
  4. Russell scores on their first possession in OT Russell 27 Mason 20 Mason 2nd & 8.
  5. Mason picks off a pass down to Russell's 14. 0:26 secs remaining
  6. Mason punts with 1:25 IN 4TH QTR Mason 20 Russell 20 Russell with the ball on the 26. 2nd and 5
  7. It looks like it is going to be a showdown between Russell vs. Raceland for a conference championship.
  8. Is there an Ernie Banks of football? Who would say for us, "let's play two?"
  9. Here are the N.E.K.C. (NorthEastern Kentucky Conference) game results from wk 8: Team………………………Conference (W-L)…Overall (W-L)……..PF………… PA Russell Red Devils……………….4-0……………..7-1……………..324………….169 Raceland Rams………………….3-0………………5-2…………….185………….155 Ashland Tomcats………………...2-2………………2-6…………….182…………235 Lawrence County Bulldogs……..1-2………………1-6…………….118………….225 Boyd County Lions……………...1-3………………1-6……………..134………….185 Greenup County Musketeers……0-4………………1-6…………….130…………213 Next week (9) matchups: Bryan Station (2-5) @ Ashland (2-6) Rowan County (2-5) @ Boyd County (1-6) Russell (7-1) @ Mason County (5-2) Nicholas County (4-3) @ Raceland (5-2) Lawrence County (1-6) @ Greenup County (1-6) Raceland @ Boyd County (Cantrell matchup)
  10. personally, I see it being Belfry vs. Russell with Belfry sending a message (large victory) about last seasons post-season defeat. I "truly" hope Russell wins and plays in Louisville, but I see too many people overlooking too many teams before Belfry and their appearance in the finals.
  11. FBALL, I will take your statements for what it is worth, "Well minded great information on the Russell team". You speak with many, many facts instead of from the heart like many others. I hope that you would agree with me that it is too dangerous to overlook Mason County in the second round of the playoffs!
  12. RedDevilMVP, I will take my chances on Mason Roughing up the Devils in the second round of the playoffs and Belfry ripping apart an overrated Russell team. They are a good team but not on the same level as Belfry IMO.
  13. rfcinky, I meant the game that will be played in the playoffs. Against Mason. Everybody from Russell keeps looking past Mason in the playoffs and they can easily get beaten by Mason in the second week of the playoffs. Sorry for the confusion about my previous statement.
  14. Mason County could possibly knock the Devils out of the playoffs if they are not mentally ready to "play the game" long before they would see Belfry.
  15. The road to the pizza box/oven/Papa John's Stadium: 1. Belfry's path leads through; Breathitt, Sheldon Clark & RUSSELL. 2. Breathitts path leads through; Sheldon Clark & Finally through BELFRY. 3. Sheldon Clark's path leads through BELFRY. 4. Mason County's path leads through RUSSELL & BELFRY. 5. Russell's path leads through Mason County & BELFRY. Ultimately, All paths lead through Belfry or Russell. I give the upper hand to Belfry!
  16. Here are the N.E.K.C. (NorthEastern Kentucky Conference) game results from wk 6: Team………………………Conference (W-L)…Overall (W-L)……..PF………… PA Russell Red Devils……………….4-0……………..6-0……………..218………….107 Raceland Rams………………….2-0………………3-2…………….109………….119 Lawrence County Bulldogs……..1-1………………1-5…………….105………….202 Ashland Tomcats………………...1-2………………1-5…………….136…………175 Greenup County Musketeers……0-2………………1-4…………….105…………153 Boyd County Lions……………...0-3………………0-6……………..107………….172 Next week (7) matchups: Boyd County (0-6) @ Greenup County (1-4) Rowan County (1-4) @ Lawrence County (1-5) Raceland (3-2) @ Paris (0-6) Lewis County (0-5) @ Russell (6-0) Ashland (1-5) @ Woodford County (5-1) Ashland vs. Boyd County Game Article: http://www.dailyindependent.com/localsports/local_story_272014657.html Russell vs. Lawrence County Game Article: http://www.dailyindependent.com/localsports/local_story_272014305.html Greenup County vs. Raceland County Game Article: http://www.dailyindependent.com/localsports/local_story_272014911.html Player of the week: Ashland’s Matt Thomas, 2 TD’s, 364 yds rushing. Honorable mention: Raceland’s Tyler Boyles & John Scott Carver. What a week! It sets up a classic showdown between Boyd County and Greenup County this week. Nonetheless, The ULTIMATE showdown stills hangs in the balance with Raceland and Russell possibly heading into week 10 both with undefeated conference records and a championship to be on the field!!! Looks like a great remaining conference year even with poor records. This is why we need a "fictional" with hopes of becoming real conference with these 6 local teams. Even though many of the teams are going to the playoffs and still jockeying for playoff position, there still could be some "more" exciting football left if this conference existed.
  17. Red Devils better not overlook Mason Co (in playoffs) and Belfry better not overlook Sheldon Clark or Breathitt (in playoffs) before each have an opportunity to play each other. 1. Belfry 2. Russell 3. Sheldon Clark 4. Mason Co 5. Breathitt Co This is just the east side of the state on who even gets to play in Louisville. Once one of these teams get there, then Central or Tilghman awaits.
  18. Lawrence is still trying to improve their "game speed" offense, thus the reason to leave their offense in as long as possible. They are working towards the playoffs and 1 extra qtr of reps will help tremendously down the road.
  19. No Ram, I have not had a chance to present the idea to the independent. Do you think they would really take it as a story?
  20. This will be the biggest week of the "fictional" conference as all 6 teams will be in action versus each other in 3 key game matchups. Here are the N.E.K.C. (NorthEastern Kentucky Conference) game results from wk 5: Team………………………Conference (W-L)…Overall (W-L)……..PF………… PA Russell Red Devils……………….3-0……………..5-0……………..183………….83 Lawrence County Bulldogs……..1-0………………1-4…………….81………….167 Raceland Rams………………….1-0………………2-2…………….75………….109 Greenup County Musketeers……0-1………………1-3…………….95…………119 Ashland Tomcats………………...0-2………………0-5…………….96…………142 Boyd County Lions……………...0-2………………0-5……………..74………….132 Next week (6) matchups: Ashland (0-5) @ Boyd County (0-5) Greenup County (1-3) @ Raceland (2-2) Russell (5-0) @ Lawrence County (1-4) Ashland vs. Montgomery County Game Article: http://www.dailyindependent.com/localsports/local_story_265014849.html Boyd County vs. Lawrence County Game Article: http://www.dailyindependent.com/localsports/local_story_265014638.html Russell vs. East Carter Game Article: http://www.dailyindependent.com/localsports/local_story_265014336.html Greenup County vs. Rowan County Game Article: None available? Raceland vs. Lexington Christian Game Article: None available? Player of the week: Lawrence County’s Ryan Crisp, 2 TD’s. Honorable mention: Russell’s Tyler Jones, 3 TD’s. This will be the biggest week in the existence of the fictional N.E.K.C. with all 6 teams in action versus each other. Two undefeated conference teams (Russell, Lawrence) will be battling this week, along with in county teams (Raceland, Greenup) battling for county bragging rights. Lastly, you have the typical EPIC county game with both winless Boyd and Ashland fighting to stay out of the conference cellar and salvage both of their seasons. It has always been said that you can go winless during the season and miss the playoffs as long as you beat your rival (Boyd vs. Ashland), so 1-9 seems like a reasonable goal for one of these teams and a successful season.
  21. Russell 28 East Carter 3 East ball, 1st & goal 4th qtr (1:17)
