  1. It was just some good fan entertainment. They were such great dancers that the entire student body of Ashland was trying to dance with HIM across the gym. lol It was a good game, but I enjoyed the atmosphere the most.
  2. So are some of their fans! A couple really know how to obviously embarrass themselves. :jump:
  3. I just gotta say, "Shaq" was on the line last night!
  4. No loss is a good loss, no matter when it is, or who it is by. I totally agree with RickyP, It was a good Rose Hill Win but the tournament is not finished. 5 of the top 7 16th region teams are in this tournament alone!! I don't think Elliott has lost focus, intimidation, or invincibility from this game. Rose Hill was the better team on this particular night. How else do you summarize the stats. Elliott was 15-17 at the FT line, and 16-57 from the field. Euton had 23 points and 18 rebounds. Jackson finished with 17, and the rest of the crew was 10-22 with 22pts & 10 rebs. Final eval, Euton dominated this game and Rose Hill played excellent Defense which held Elliott to 28% shooting. Nobody from Elliott shot above 50% and stepped up. Elliott kept looking for somebody to take over and Rose Hill found their man. As for Rose Hill, what a night and hopefully a promising tournament after that victory. Not only are they deserving of the victory, but are deserving of the regions support if they journey down to Richmond. Congrads on the win, and best of luck next game.
  5. Where is everyone who said Dodd should be Coach of the Year (06-07) when he had talent. I know they are REALLY (really) down this year, but he is the same coach isn't he? This is my point about COY honors, it should not be hand delivered b/c of team records. What system can work for Russell this year? Who knows! I don't claim to have the answers, but I have begin to observe "the natives are restless" with the coaching there. Back to the topic, Tomcats just ran through the Devils and didn't look back. After the Cats scored 45 points, it had to be over for the Devils. Congrats Cats on a greatly executed game, Devils good luck with the rest of your season and I hope you find luck with the rest of your season. By the way, What is Russell's stance on seeding the districts now? I would say they would still favor it to this day.
  6. OYP, yes they would!! a few teams would and should, but let me suggest that they are not running scores up on teams, they are playing their entire team (Class A) and are having great results, and let me re-emphasize that I said they may not be #1, but definitely a top 10 team with MUCH RESPECT due to them!
  7. More people from Kentucky, outside of Kentucky, Lexington, Louisville, Northern Kentucky and anywhere else needs to know about Elliott County Basketball this season and next season to come!!!! They may not be #1 in the state, but they are definitely a SOLID top 10 team. They can beat you with more than one, two, or even three players. They easily go six deep with Div 1 level type players and have the ability to beat anyone in the state on any given night, and I will not argue that they can't be beaten themselves (as evidence in 5/3 tourney) in any given game, but everyone needs to research the players on this team, not the results of their games to critic where they should actually be in Litkenhouse rankings.
  8. I don't believe it matters how the bracket is, Elliott will win this thing hands down! This will be their first real test (tournament) of being the Definite favorite and playing teams that they have beaten and should beat day in and day out. I think Bath County will narrowly escape Fairview to be delivered to the Lions (no pun intended) because of the home court advantage. Nobody should overlook Rose Hill nor Fairview in any game, but Elliott is superior in this region, maybe in the entire state.
  9. what are the times of the games in the first round? When does the games begin? I plan on driving in for the tourney, but don't know when the first game begins to give myself travel time of 45 minutes.
  10. How much are tickets to the whole Tournament? Where can I pick them up? Any information out there?
  11. Walrus, you will find that at any posting for any school on any particular night! I like to think of myself as an equal opportunity basher. When your school (or mine) deserves a good bashing, then I am willing to give it. lol
  12. The kids from Greenup seem to LOVE their new coach. They played hard all night long for him and he gave fist ups to his kids ALL NIGHT LONG when they went to the bench. On the nice plays and the bad, he was great and consistent with his players and I was very IMPRESSED with Greenups new coach and his personality. Now about the X's and O's, I don't know if they are running the right style of offense (or lack of offensive sets), and they definitely don't play defense. Run N Gun is what it is and they are exciting to watch and intense to follow, but if Greenup runs across a team that can run with them or ahead of them, then they are toast (see Elliott, Ashland, etc).
  13. Russell's Kicker is NOT that good. Above average at best, but will not step up to the next level. He is often inconsistent, but there is more to kicking a field goal in high school than the kicker themselves. It takes a good snap, good catch, good placement, good blocking, good footing, and then a GOOD kicker. Russell's kicker is above average and could have made a 30 yarder if things went right, but not a 50 yd.
  14. Consider Somerset's season over!!! Hope to have a great Turkey Day.
  15. I don't know if either team has the "execution" to get through Breathitt. First things first, this week; then Breathitt; then possibly Belfry for either one. BUT IT ALL STOPS THERE FOR ANY OF THE THREE PREVIOUSLY MENTIONED TEAMS.:fire:
  16. My thoughts are: 1 play can get you TWO extra playoff games at home. Excellent choice IMO. Just came up short.
  17. MC is extremely brilliant and prove us all wrong, or is way off base with his "preseason" poll. I think I will stick with Cubster's poll untill the ball hits the hardwood for official games.
  18. There are alot of acusations towards a couple of area coaches here. Do you have any real facts to back up these statements? If so, please delight us with your information. BTW welcome to BGP, but please do not come on here to slander some good coaches/people on here.
  19. Here are the N.E.K.C. (NorthEastern Kentucky Conference) game results from wk 9: Team………………………Conference (W-L)…Overall (W-L)……..PF………… PA Russell Red Devils……………….4-0……………..8-1……………..351………….195 Raceland Rams………………….4-0………………6-2…………….214………….167 Ashland Tomcats………………...2-2………………2-7…………….202…………269 Lawrence County Bulldogs……..1-3………………1-7…………….138………….260 Boyd County Lions……………...1-4………………2-6……………..159………….198 Greenup County Musketeers……1-4………………2-6…………….165…………233 Next week (10) matchups: Russell (8-1, 4-0) @ Raceland (6-2, 4-0) Ashland (2-7) @ Johnson Central (7-1) Boyd County (2-6) @ Grant County (6-3) Lewis County (0-8) @ Greenup County (2-6) Lawrence County (1-7) @ Breathitt County (8-0) Lawrence County (1-7, 1-3) @ Ashland (2-6, 2-2) (Cantrell) Bryan Station vs. Ashland Game Article http://www.dailyindependent.com/localsports/local_story_293011433.html Rowan County vs. Boyd County Game Article http://www.dailyindependent.com/localsports/local_story_293011106.html Russell vs. Mason County Game Article http://www.dailyindependent.com/localsports/local_story_293011607.html Nicholas County vs. Raceland Game Article No article found Lawrence County vs. Greenup County Game Article http://www.dailyindependent.com/localsports/local_story_293010956.html Player of the week: Greenup’s T.J. Stephenson, 150 yds rushing. Honorable mention: Greenup’s Eric Craft, 12-for-21, throwing for 120 yards and two touchdowns. The ULTIMATE showdown is now upon us with both Raceland and Russell undefeated in the conference heading into week 10. This is why we need a "fictional" with hopes of becoming a real conference with these 6 local teams. Even though many of the teams are going to the playoffs and still jockeying for playoff position, there still could be some "more" exciting football left if this conference really existed.
  20. FBALL, If you and anyone else has been following my ficticious N.E.K.C. football conference threads, then we all know that the "mythical" Conference championship will be decided on the field this Friday night in this head-to-head matchup, to be determined on the field.:jump::ylsuper::banana::dancingpa
  21. Thanks for your opinion and was very, very, very well delivered and allowed me to reflect upon my comments. You have opened my eyes and allowed me to actually agree with you in almost all of your statements. I still do not believe that RH's church should be funding athletic teams. If it is the desires of many people surrounding these programs to have an excellence in athletics, then those people should fund it themselves. I do not want to argue, nor offend anyone and I will not post anymore statements in the basketball forum on these issues on this strand (maybe I should not have in the first place), but it amuses me when the Lexington papers and a few publications refer to Rose Hill as Rose Hill Academy and not Rose Hill Christian School. This is only a "personal" opinion and with it and 75 cents I can buy a can of pop. To all the RH posters, I sincerely apologize and do not mean any disrespect to you and any players, I just have personal issues.:creepy:
  22. Its, Rose Hill's, focus is not as much on Christian education nowadays as the desire to produce athletic teams (which is good for school & student morale). The Hill was founded upon the desire to give an option of a Christian education to students in Boyd County and the surrounding counties over 20+ years ago, but many individuals involved there now have been trying to manufacture sports teams (legally under KHSAA rules) for the last few years, and are so bent on "sticking it" to the public schools that they have lost focus on C.S. vision.
  23. I believe Russell will still vote to seed now, even this year if it was put to a vote again! Only mediocre teams choose not to place value on season matchups and "hope" for luck rather than talent when it comes to postseason.
