Cubster's 16th Regional Poll 1/28/07
If you read one of my previous posts, you will see my revision of the weekly poll with Russell @ #1 and Greenup @ #8. This DOES NOT mean that I think Russell will blow them out, mainly cause GC is too hard to beat at home especially in this District Rivalry. This will still be a great game (within 7pts, IMO) and I hope I can make it into Greenup tonite. How are the roads in that direction?

Cubster's 16th Regional Poll 1/28/07
Jay, Ashland has an overall 13-7 record, and only has 4 wins vs. teams with winning records this season (Boyd x2, Belfry, and Rose Hill). Ashland's record vs teams with winning records are: 4-6. If you take away the district foes, they carry a 1-5 record vs winning teams and were outscored an avg of: 71-62. 7-0 vs Kentucky teams w/ losing records and 2-1 vs out of state teams (wins Spring Valley & Rock Hill) Waiting for that "Signature" win IMO.

Cubster's 16th Regional Poll 1/28/07
GottaRebound & zippidiedoda, instead of saying a team WILL NOT go to state, make a bolder prediction and tell us WHO WILL THEN??? I will say it's Russell's to loose and Elliotts to win. Ashland will have a difficult time exiting the districts (IMO they will win their district, but) so they may not be a factor after all if they get beat in opening round. There are many other teams that are capable of going to state, but I am afraid to predict too much until district pairings are out.

Cubster's 16th Regional Poll 1/28/07
Cubster definitely saw more to the Fairview & East Teams than I did!! He has proven that Greenup should be lowered and Fairview should remain above East. Midweek update IMO: 1. Russell 2. Elliott 3. Ashland 4. Rose Hill 5. Boyd 6. Rowan 7. Fairview 8. Greenup

AAU
My point Exactly Coach!!!! :thumb: This is generally the demise of all good things. These are the adults whom I was referring to back at the top of the thread about not having the ability to follow the given guidelines of a given organizations (vision/mission) purpose.

AAU
Yoda, isn't it (dead period) only TWO weeks though? or are there other unmentionables?

AAU
AAU is destroying the integrity of HS athletics with so many "adults" trying to coach, live their dreams through kids, or making a future for themselves. What I am saying is that IMO the (unethical) coaches are the ones who are giving AAU a bad name. Is it the state rules that prevent them from coaching school teams or is it that they can't follow the guidelines set up by the athletic associations? TOO MANY POOR AAU COACHES MAKE IT A CESSPOOL! As for paying for it (purpose of this thread), the good basketball players can be easily lured away from their community teams if the price is right. Somebody (coaches, parents, etc) will foot the bill for them to be part of their team to compete. Kinda goes against "amature" sports IMO.

Best student sections??
:thumb: Preach Uncle Jed T-Fan, I don't believe that is sour grapes as much as everyone finally noticing what is fermenting in the mouths of many ashland student's chants. I find it very irratating to continue to read about "Great Ole" Ashland Fans and how great they are after I have watched 4 games this year of the mighty cats and have had to stomach the chants in all 4. I am glad that there were meaningful basketball games going on in 3 of the 4 games. I believe I can (hopefully) let this go and wish your student section the best in not continuing: 1. Lude comments about opposing players 2. Challenging fights with opposing student sections (while your getting beaten) and 3.Stop bragging about the "success" of the 9-3 football team who was smashed TWICE by Johnson Central (35-7 & 21-28) during Basketball games.:creepy:

Cubster's 16th Regional Poll 1/28/07
Cubster, I give you an A on your rankings! Only questionable rank is Fairview over East. (I guess its because: Fairview over West & West over East this week). But this will be answered later on Feb.16 and I hope that I am right that East is the higher ranked team and should win this matchup. What makes your poll a guaranteed A is the way the bottom 7 are ranked. Those are all my thoughts exactly.

Elliott Co. 92 Greenup Co. 63
Red states, Even with this loss, I still expect Greenup to be a tough game for Russell next Friday, as rivalry games usually are. I agree with you here! Pgky states, Middleton was out for Greenup. Wolfenbarker in foul trouble and received an inappropriate elbow to the head and no foul. Greenup's TEAM defense wasn't very good. Tough to beat a team like Elliott Co. without good TEAM defense. The game was within striking distance for Greenup from 16-6 points. In the 3rd quarter the game was about a 10 point difference. Thats when Wolfenbarker received the elbow and had to sit out for a bit. Greenup was out of tune. The fouls were called different on both ends. sounds like grabbing for an explanation besides the truth. I think everyone continues to forget about Rose Hill (IMO) is a top 5 team. If you played Rose Hill, Greenup, Rowan & Boyd in a 4 team tourney, WHO WINS?? I believe Rose Hill could win more times than not.

Oak Hills 56 Rose Hill 45
I totally think both Euton and Jackson deserve the recognition they are receiving from UK. As (Kentucky) freshmen and the talent level they are in, they rightfully deserve all the athletic recognitions they deserve. It would be enjoyable to see Kentucky kids play in Rupp except for a couple of weekends during Nov & March.

Ashland 74 Boyd Co. 58
Im for sure the student section chipped in 6 pts tonite, check the box scores. lol

16th Region Poll 1/21/07
Time to re-up my rankings and give my opinion on next weeks rankings. After consideration, I believe that I was too harsh on RH for 1 loss against a good Ashland Team. 1. Russell 2. Elliott 3. Ashland 4. Rose Hill 5. Rowan 6. Greenup 7. East 8. Boyd Now the bottom 8 are going to get worst to rank due Fleming knocking of Morgan Co tonite.

16th Region Poll 1/21/07
PG, What I am implying is that even though Hicks coached a very good game in the first showdown. Russell played below their capabilities and GC played average IMO, and IF both teams played their "best" games against each other I would think that Russell will beat them by double digits. It is just that IMO Russell is a Much Better Team than Greenup.

Russell-Rowan predictions
Jay, What is wrong with CoachD?

Boyd County vs Ashland predictions III
I believe Ashland wins by 7 b/c of players like Danny Coleman. Besides Drew McDavid (being one of the best in the region may I add), gets many calls for him and oversights against him. Thus advantage again, Tomcats.

This shows us that we can talk BADLY about the 3rd and 6th and NOBODY will say anything back to us to defend them!! lol

Elliott co may be the team to beat
I think I will go with a maroon team this season to win the 16th Region.

Ashland 68 Rose Hill 47
Wow, I didn't know that he is related to DA. Why did he choose not to follow his big bro's footsteps at Ashland?

Ashland 68 Rose Hill 47
Thank ya, SB I am trying to catch up on the regions talent for the next few years. RH, Elliott, and the traditional powers. If anyone could give me more info on the Freshmen and Sophomores in the Region, I would appreciate it.

SB, when and where is Dakota from? I understand his mother is the HS Girls coach, but what brought him to the area?

16th Region Poll 1/21/07
Pgfromky, How can Ashland be below RH since they just beat them tonight also. Did you go to the Russell/GC game? I was there and I didnt think Russell played well at all and GC played average (not up to their capability). That was the best game I have EVER seen Hicks coach well and when these two teams get together again, no matter if one team is supposedly better than the other it will be a knock down, drag out fight till the bitter end with these two.

Champion, I am not a MOD but I want to stress to you a reminder of: 5. No divulging or attempting to determine any member's true identity. That includes dropping hints about a user's identity or asking a member who he or she is in a public forum. I don't think it was a very wise statement and one that is very much unappreciated.
