Who wins this opener for both teams ?

Elliott is the favorite going into this game however my heart says Boyd County. Elliott has a good team and one that shouldn't be taken lightly by anyone. I know BC won't make that mistake. The edge for BC will be experience. Seasoned players like Billy Blanton & Casey Branham who are Seniors this year know this will be their last opportunity to play. It will be a good game and a close one.

I think Elliott has to be the favorite now with VanHoose being out. The young Lions gained valuable experience last year in the regional tournament. Elliott Co. is my pick to cut down the nets in Morehead.

Elliott Co. has had tough games all year and overcame all to win another district championship. This group of kids will not accept losing so I expect them to not overlook Boyd.(who they have already beat) and Russell will have their hands full with a very scrapy Bath Co. team that is showing some signs of life at the right time. Regardless of the outcome MY MONEY SAYS IT WILL BE A LION THAT WINS!!!!

Boyd County has played two tough games in the District. They came from behind to beat Rose Hill and lost to Ashland in the final seconds. I would have to say that Elliot is the favorite in this game but if Selby and Branham step up and play like they did in the District, Elliot will have to work for this win.

Should be an excellent game that will be won by whichever team dictates the tempo. If Boyd can keep the score low and get Selby involved, and he must stay out of foul trouble, Boyd could win. If the game is uptempo and above the high 50's I think that favors Elliott County. I would love to see Phil Pratt come out with a win on this one, he is a class act and so deserving of a big victory.

Boyd may very well win this game due to size, but not experience. Elliott may start all sophmores but I would venture to say they boast more tournament experience than Boyd. When you include last year's regional run with all of their major AAU tourneys over the past few years, you would have to say they are an experienced tournament team. To beat Boyd they will have to shoot well and continue to apply the outside pressure to avoid getting muscled in the half court.

BogeyMan, you make some very valid points. Elliott does probably have more tournament experience than Boyd but like you pointed out they start all sophmores which are excellent ball players. Now here comes the but--JMO there is more of a incentive for a senior player than a sophmore player because the sophmore player will in all likelihood come back next year to play again. I've seen Elliott play and they always give it all they've got. I think that Boyd County will give it all they've got as well because this is the first time in 5 years and they are hungry, mighty hungry for a win.
