Anyone have any injury reports?

That's a good question? Anyone heard from the school about J. Vanhooses' Knee and how Gill feels after seeing his first action last night?

Russell 60

Lewis Co 43

With Hampton in and Vanhoose out, who knows? I think the other Devils are still talented and athletic enough to make a deep run.

I say Russell by 10 over a fiesty Lewis team in their homeplace. Gill feels good after his first outing and I'd go one step further and say he feels hungry. If the best athlete in the Region steps up, Russell marches on!

With no one questioning the fact that Vanhoose is the 16th Region's very best player, I predict there's more than enough for Russell to win the Region. I would put Russell's 3 (Blair, Gill, and Robinson) up against any three in the Region (including Faulkner,Faulkner, Ferguson, and McDavid, Thomas, Wilcox). I would go on to say that the "rest" of Russell's players are every bit as good and maybe better than the "rest" of the players on these other teams. The question is, can they jell as a unit without VanHoose and I say YES.

Zornes' injury at the half is very important to Lewis as well, he led them in scoring a few times this year, not comparing him to Vanhoose, but still important piece to Lions puzzle.

Maybe a little away from the thread, but I see Russell still having a good chance to return to Rupp. My analysis, Russell can beat Lewis w/o Vanhoose (torn ACL). So this means they play a runner-up in the Regions first round that being (IMO: Boyd{or Ash}, East, Bath) and I like those chances for a first round win. So, the Region Semi's would be against: Ashland, Rowan, or Elliott. I think they can beat Ashland and Rowan, but they need luck to avoid Elliott before the finals IMO. If Russell gets to the championship game of the Region I see them using their experience and winning again, unless Elliott's super sophs show up and drill the shots all night long. Even though Vanhoose will definitely be missed, this team can win as easy as every team going to Morehead. The only team they need to avoid is Elliott IMO.

Imo Russel can still win this one even w/o Vanhoose. When you stop to think about it Russell's reserves have played/practiced every day against the team a lot of people are calling the best in the region (their own team) and the best player in the region in Vanhoose. So it is not like they haven't had experience playing god competition, they do it every day. I wish that J.V. could play in this one but his injury has eliminated that. Again, prayers go out to ther J.V. and the Vanhoose family, I know how tough this is for all.

Lewis County will be a tough opponent on their home floor.

The student sections will be out in full force for both teams so this should be a very exciting game for the fans.

Russell is a very talented team and will be playing with a little more emotion as they win this one for Vanhoose.

I hope more students show up for Russell than in Round 1.

IMO, the post season for Russell revolves around the play of Turner and Frazure. When these two guys step it up, this team is like a well greased machine. they just won't have the Turbo. Russell by 12.
