Harrison last hosted in 2008. I thought the region would go to the 38th District next year. To my knowledge, no one in the 39th can host the tourney- lighting and shape of the fields. In the 38th, Nicholas does not have lights and Pendleton's are very poor. Not a lot of fields can host the region in the 10th.

Rupp will see alot of orange. Marshall travels well. They have very passionate and knowledgeable fans.

I think this district is going to be very interesting. Pendleton with Monroe and size and depth shuold be the first choice now. I then put the Devils from Deming second. The King Boys are a tough tandem to control in this district. Harrison is young and not physically strong, but will improve as the year goes on. I hear Coach Reitz is looking at playing 9 or 10 kids. Nicholas will be on the outside of this race. They just lost too much. The thing about this district is that I feel the top 3 teams can beat each other any night. No one team rally scares the others. Should make for an interesting season. Has anyone heard the staus of Nicholas' new gym?

Harrison Co. can't catch a break. Spent several years with Lex. Cath in the same district, and now must be in with Highlands, Cov. Cath, Holmes. Could have a great year but still finish 4th in the district- yikes) 4A is absolutley a murderous class.

The Breds will indeed be young. A large number of sophomores will be seing varsity action, along with one frosh. The Breds must get physically stronger, become more consistent with their shooting, and be able to handle pressure defense by older, stronger opponents. Height is much improved, but quickness and ball handling are a queston mark. The young core loves the game, and the future is bright. Small steps this year, with larger steps coming over the next two years. Can win the district, if the group continues to improve and things fall right.

Coach Whitaker's first season was the 1979 season. 2010 would be his 32nd season as a head coach.

I think the man can flat out coach. If he leaves, Scott falls fom the top tier of the region to the middle of the pack.

As bad as it was, it could have actually been worse. GRC is the real deal, one of the longest teams I have seen in HS hoops. Excellent defensive pressure by the Cards, they smothered whoever had the ball for the Breds. It will be tough for any 10th region foe to beat the Cards this year or next, IMO.

If GRC plays any kind of ball there should not be any game closer that 10 points. GRC is that good.

Cynthiana High School Gym,known as City Hall Gym is still standing and is used as a recreation gym for kids and adults. It is in very bad shape, poor heating, gym floor is warped, and the restrooms are no longer working. However, it is still used. There is talk of replacing the floor if $ can be found. Coach Joe B. Hall and former KHSAA commissioner Louis Stout played their HS ball there. Augusta Gym is something special to visit, as is the old Maysville High Gym. A lot of 10th region hoops history in those two gyms.

Malcolm Thomas of Harrison Co. is at least top 12.

They would not play the championship game on a Sunday. I think the format would be the 4 quarterfinal games on Friday, the 2 semifinal games would be on Saturday morning, and the championship game on Saturday night. Last year that is what they did. These is just my opinion though.

Congrats to the Breds for their impressive game. Dailey pitched a great game, let his defense help him out. HC turned 5 double plays, 4 of which ended innings. The Breds also successfully had a pickoff at first and a key out at third on a fielder's choice, thanks to a heads up play by Dailey, Dye and Case. Congrats to Senior Shortsop Eric Case for being named Most Outstanding Player of the Sectional Tourney. 3 for 7 in the tourney, two doubles, two runs scored, two RBI's and pitched two thirds of an inning with 2 K's. A tough call at home. From my vantage point, the catcher was indeed up the line, in the basepath in front of the plate. The throw was high, the catcher jumped then contact was made. I did not think he had the ball when contact was made. It looked like Dye was atempting to dive toward home, when contact was made. Dye really had no where else to go, his path was blocked. I did not think he lowered the shoulder with intent to make contact, but others may think it was the intent. It was bang bang. It definitely was a judgement call. While I disagreed with it, and did not feel like it was intentional contact, if the ump rules it that way, then the ejection has to be made. Honestly, that rule needs a little wiggle room, and this play would have been a prime example for that. Did not see any punches thrown. Benches did not clear. Beechwood coaches came out to argue thier point, once the call was made, players and coaches were miling outside the dugout waiting for the final decision, as both coaches argued thier point and umpires huddled to discuss the situation.

I would like to commend the Scott High staff, parents, players and coaches on their handling of the 10th region tourney. The weather was absolutley insane, yet the Scott High crew did a heck of a job. Very friendly folks at the ticket booth and the concessions. AD Mueller was always around, working hard to make the tourney first class. Job well done.

I expect it to be close, but I see the tough schedule the Breds have played this year being a key factor. Breds in two close ones. I do predict a lot of small ball on both sides.

The program has been strong long before the Ky Terror or the Ky Thorobreds. The credit does need to go to the strong youth program in Harrison County. Many individuals have volunteered many hours and years in our tball and little league programs. We did just recently change our tee ball program which went previously to age 8 to coach pitch and tee ball now ends at age 6. My observation so far has been, is I am afraid defense is going to suffer. Lets not also forget those coaches at the high school level before Coach Whitaker. Don Snopek deserves a little credit as well.

I was surprised with GRC's inability to handle Mason's full court run and jump. GRC continued to make the same mistake all night, never coming back to receive the pass and dribbling up the sideline. Kudo's to Mason for extending the pressure and getting into the GRC passing lanes. ( When GRC tried to pass, which was not often enough.) I also thought GRC rushed too many poor shots- several GRC players took shots with men on them instead of passing out of a double team- too much selfish play on the part of the Cards, IMO.

It takes guts to take a charge,and a willingness to be a team player first and foremost. Two of the better in the 10th at taking charges play at Harrison, John Reitz , over 20 taken and Eric Case.

I just sent my e-mail. I think those of us who truly believe this is wrong, selfish,and greedy need to let the BOK know. The squeaky wheel often is oiled.

Turnovers (19) hurt the Breds chances of pulling the upset. HC has played Mason twice in the Fieldhouse, losing by 7 and 8. Competitive, yes, that has been proven.

2 Frosh games , then 4 varsity games on the hilltop on 2-14. HCHS gym will be the place to watch 6 games in one day. A hoops junkie's paradise or a place for a guy who can't get a date on Valentine's Day.

Harrison was up by 1 with 5 minutes to go and Reitz went down with an ankle injury. The breds fought back but didn't pull it out. They will be get better... just takes time. Reitz is out for 2 weeks probally. GO BREDS!!!
