  1. I don't know who all did get interviews, but I do know the one person I had said would do a great job (Tony Wise) didn't get one. Strange? He has MORE than proven himself in here in Florida, and turned a program in Ky. completely around going 21-9 this year.
  2. I actually have never heard of a free home either in either, but I have heard many times of the large salary and a vehicle one year, a bass boat a few years later, things like that. Pretty unbelievable in all cases lol.
  3. Tony Wise would be a great choice. He got beat in the finals his last year down here in Florida. His team won my tournament down here a year or 2 before that. I was very impressed by how hard his teams played and how well-coached they were. Not knocking any other candidates, it is just I have seen Tony's teams play and seen him coach, so I feel very certain he would do a great job!
  4. Seems on the outside (Florida) looking in that CC would be a very good job to have for someone. I would assume they would get a ton of applicants.
  5. I know the money part is pretty accurate, and Boyle himself said in an article that they gave him and his family a 4 bedroom house across the street from the school. He stated that he hated to leave St. Pats, but it was just too good of a deal for him and his family to pass up. It is a great deal, but quite a few high school football coaches in Georgia get gigs almost that good.
  6. This game won't be online anywhere will it? What is the scheduled game time?
  7. You said you watched the game on CW ? Is this a cable channel, or an internet provider. Just wondering because I am always looking for places that are carrying these games and I am located in Florida. Thanks in advance.
  8. Also I predict Miller Grove out of Georgia will win this tourney. Will probably be wrong, but that is my prediction.
  9. In the past they have aired every game, even the losers bracket games. Not sure about this year though.
  10. Just from an outsider looking in, it looks as if Ballard basically dominated this game with Scott County making a late run to make it respectable. I could be wrong, I certainly wasn't there. It seems almost every year everyone says Ballard is going to be down compared to last year, and every year they seem to have a top 10 if not top 5 team. The 7th is so strong this & every year, wow!
  11. St Bens is not the team that got in trouble and couldn't go to the playoffs, that was St. Pats. St. Bens didn't play in the National High School Tourney because of the play dates overlapping with Good Friday.
  12. I had a similar situation coaching years ago. I actually put the kid on the varsity, and he knew from the very start he would not get hardly any playing time, he knew he wouldn't even get in on a lot of the competitive drills in practice, and he also was made very aware that at the end of the season for the playoffs he would be able to travel and practice if he wanted to but that I would move up a couple of very talented junior varsity players to fill his spot, but that we could actually play in difficult situations if needed. In the end we won a state championship (in Florida) the young man was on the bench (not in uniform), ate the meals, stayed in the motel, did everything the team did, AND now has a state championship ring he wears proudly. I personally never played but one junior on the junior varsity in 23 years of coaching. I think the development at the JV level is possibly the most important time, especially for schools that aren't overloaded with talent. Just one coaches take on this. I certainly wouldn't put a senior on the JV, but if he wanted to be on the team I would do it this way, but would also give him the opportunity to do stats, camera etc... Not saying I was right, but it was what I did and would do again if the situation presented itself. I must say very few kids would want to be part of the team knowing all of the things I mentioned in the first of the post.
  13. Not sure if it warrants a top 10 spot, but most of the time the team that wins the Derek Smith shootout ends up with a very good season which Louisville Central did if I am not mistaken. I am not saying they belong, but there are a few teams mentioned that I don't think would have come real close to winning the DS Shootout. Can't wait for the season to get started.
  14. Wow. You sure do seem to "know" a lot about something that happened 7 years ago. You also seem to have a real high opinion of Coach Norman. Sounds like he got a raw deal. But didn't he follow Coach Chalk who had a lot of success? I'm just saying....
  15. I know this doesn't always translate to great varsity records and seasons, but who are some teams that their JV teams and freshman teams have outstanding records???
  16. Coaching in Florida several years ago I was fortunate to coach 2 players who were 6-3 (not necessarily very tall) but one had a 6-9 wing span the other had a 6-8 wing span, so they were both long. This year coaching junior college had a 6-9 player (yes somewhat tall) with a 7-6 wing span (yes EXTREMELY LONG). So there is a difference. Not sure when the measuring of wing span came about though.
  17. Actually it is 35 or more anytime in the 2nd half. I see both sides. Having coached in a district that had ALOT of very weak teams, the year before the running clock I found myself doing everything in my power to keep the score difference to a minimum, but the next year when we had it I was able to let the guys who didn't get a lot of playing time still run our system more openly, not pressing or anything, but then again not having to sit inside the 3 point line in a zone we normally never ran. One thing i noticed too, was that the referees continued to call the game normally with a running clock, but before it they would let the team who was way behind get away with murder and call everything on the team ahead even though that team had their bottom 5 players in the game the majority of the 2nd half.
  18. Great win for MC and not trying to take anything away from it, but either those 4 division 1 guys are way overrated or the coach needs firing to get beat by almost 30 to a good but not GREAT team. I mean come on now. Not trying to down MC in any way. Hope they win tomorrow.
  19. Wow that isn't good, depending on how that happened means he can't play in the next game???
  20. Arlington was ranked in the nation early in the year and I have not checked the rankings lately but after going 2-2 in Fort Myers I doubt they are still ranked. Good observance by the person there. They have tons of talent, but do not play together and play no defense. They are a very small school in Florida, but always has tons of talent  go figure??? I do know their best 2 players played at different high schools in different states (one last year and the other the year before) so like I said go figure. I watched a team from Texas (Duncanville) play in Fort Myers and a team from Florida that is somewhat similar to EC (Winter Park) beat them, so I would think EC has a good chance against Cedar Hill, as Duncanville is supposed to be one of the best 2 in Texas. Good luck to EC.
  21. Ok that is fine I was just wondering. They have a very good team, and one of the best players in the country for sure, but I really don't see many teams in Florida as top 25 in the nation and they aren't even top 5 in Florida. Probably top 15 in Florida, but not top 5. I think SV has a very good chance to win this game. Should be interesting. Good luck to all!
  22. I was listening to the some of the coaching staff from Fort Myers while at a tourney this past Tuesday and they were talking about who they would play after defeating Hazard and I told him that Hazard was a very good team, but I don't think he believed me. Maybe now he does lol. Hazard is tough.
