Who is getting the Butler job? I see that it is no longer on the Jeff. Co. site. Figure that they must be gettling close.
-
Looks like he has a tough road ahead as the school he is going to only won 3 games last year and many of the losses were big time blowouts, BUT if anyone can get the job done it is Tim Riley. He is one of the best I have seen watching what little Kentucky HS b-ball I have been able to. Good luck to Coach Riley!

Q Snider/Kelan Martin vs Jalil Okafor This Weekend
thegame523 replied to Clyde's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Sure hated when I read that on twitter. I was looking forward to the contrasting styles between the 2 and to see if WY lack of depth was bothered by the frenetic style of play and pressure D Ballard always brings. -

I find it funny your name on here is 2-3 zone and your avatar is Brad Stevens who I have never seen play 2-3 but maybe twice. Probably my favorite college coach though. One of if not the very best. Welcome to the board and your insight seems to be top notch. I can tell you with my team here in Florida wo/my PG we were 8-7 (broken toe), with him we are 10-2 and our only 2 losses are to the top team in our class. PG's in HS are normally the most important on a team. -

Does anyone know if this game is being broadcast online through ihigh or anywhere else??? WY is outstanding, but I think Ballard's style of play with 32 minutes of pressure might bother WY. Saw them down in Fort Myers and they are really good but only play about 6 players. -

Yes we just went to 8 classes last year, and every year it seems we get a number of more schools competing. We will be over 700 by next year I would imagine. Even with that I still think 8 is too many. The private schools have 2 of their own classes and then many private schools still in the upper classes after 2A & 3A which are both fully private. -

SC will have their hands full with WY. I saw them at the City of Palms in Fort Myers and they were arguably the best team down there. Lost to Montverde in OT after flying in that afternoon because of weather delays. In saying that I have also learned to never doubt the possibilities of a Billy Hicks coached team. Good luck to the Cards! -
Holmes 84 New Rochelle (NY) 69

This is a great win for Holmes and it looks like they have what it takes to make a serious run. I don't ever remember though when New Rochelle has been #1 in the country. I most definitely could be wrong but normally they are not even one of the top 2 or 3 teams in NY. Still an outstanding win for Holmes. I think this could be their year to get to the sweet sixteen, and once you get there you never know. Coach Booher has proved that once already in his career. Great Job! -
Gulfshores Invitational cancelled

Wow that is horrible. That really puts a black eye on our state here in Florida. We have the top and some other of the top high school tourneys in country. That is my first of hearing they were even having problems. They just put their website up a few weeks ago for the tourney. I was even thinking about going down for the final 2 days. I wish I coached farther South in Florida as I would try to throw together a last minute one heck of a tourney with some of these teams including Trinity. I used to run a nice tourney in Panama City that we have had quite a few Kentucky teams come to when I coached at Bay HS. I sure hate to read about this!!! -
I guess Coach Booher is saying he will still use the 2-2-1, but be back into m2m instead of the 2-3. He does an outstanding job, and if he likes this team that much, it means to me they will not be fun to play against. Good luck to Coach Booher and Holmes.

Season Preview with Trinity's Mike Szabo

The Gulfshore Invitational in Naples is absolutely loaded with national powers. Similar to the City of Palms. They have really upgraded their tourney. -
Season Preview with Trinity's Mike Szabo

Who new have they "brought in" for this season? -
My bet is still ACD. They seem to get those type of guys every year. Just seems it would be hard for him to get eligible in Ky at this point but you never know.
-
One thing is for sure. His eligibility at Arlington Country Day certainly won't be questioned. They are no longer allowed to compete in the Florida playoff system or against Florida teams that compete in the playoffs.
-
Yes and he should help immensely. Tony has a great knowledge of the game. He is a great addition to this staff.

Yes I don't think he gets the credit he deserves sometimes. I can't remember the stat but he is the only coach to win several of the major titles in Kentucky in like the last 5 or 7 years (state title, KOB, 5th/7th idk). I saw his team at Fort Myers this past year and even though they lost 2 games they were still extremely impressive. They play very hard and are one of the better defensive teams not only in Kentucky, but that I have seen period. -
Scott County 2012/2013
thegame523 replied to gold sunrise's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
This is about the 3rd school I have heard Jordan Tribble is transferring to. Columbia, Ga. was that latest until I read this. He played at Holmes County this past year (Chris Walker's school) and was ineligible the first part of the season. He played against us the last game of the year but only had about 2 points and 2 rebounds. Has good size but has a long way to go to be any kind of impact player even at the high school level in my humble opinion. -

Holy Cross Picks Up a Transfer
thegame523 replied to Clyde's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
The 6-7 kid from Taft must not have played last year on the varsity, as I watched them play down in Ft. Myers & at 6-6 Aldophus Washington was their tallest player and he was a senior. They had no tall underclassmen on the varsity. Not saying he can't be a good player, but he wasn't varisty level last year. -
Surprised Iriquois and N. Oldham haven't filled yet as they seem as they would be pretty good jobs. UHA is another one that outside looking in seems like a good job, but like gold sunrise said it hasn't been open very long, so no surprise there that it isn't filled yet. Hope Coach Wise gets something as he is a very good coach, plus he is from Florida (where I coach and reside) so all of us Fl. guys have to stick together lol.

Holmes Team Camp This Weekend
thegame523 replied to Clyde's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Oh ok. Most of our games have been running clock this summer, but they are 40 minutes games which is at least close to a regular game. Good to see Boyd is working hard and improving. I am sure they will keep up the good work. Good luck to them.
