  1. I agree. How many days are we talking about??? I mean we have stayed busy here @ my school in Florida, but we are not even close to that many games. We will end up w/between 33 & 40 varsity games by the end of July (w/a dead period), and over 30 varsity games by the end of next week. We have played in 2 leagues 3 team camps. Had 8 games the past 2 days and have 11 games in 5 days next week. 127 even for 2 teams just seems odd.
  2. What has happened to the Derek Smith Shootout, it usually ran the same time as this tourney (KBA state AAU Tourney). Can't find it anywhere. Is it no longer going on. It used to be along w/this one, one of the best.
  3. Any reports on these games from yesterday, or all the games from yesterday???
  4. Yes I am sure they will be good too. Seems like several teams in that who will test each other. Lincoln was reported on here of winning several lopsided games. How good are they supposed to be this coming year? Also Lex. Catholic went undefeated at their place beating several good teams including Trinity although Trinity was missing Hicks & Quick, and I realize Quick may not play this coming year, but either way sounds like Lex Catholic will be strong again, maybe even better than the past few years. I know Scott Co. lost a lot, but I never count them out, as I know their JV won AAU state last summer, so there must be some talent left over, and Coach Hicks seems to have an idea what he is doing.
  5. Will be interested to see how CC does against Lincoln, Eastern, Perry Central, & Scott County. Sounds like a good camp.
  6. What weekend is the KBA & Derek Smith Shootout? Those are usually 2 of the top June events.
  7. I agree, and I think I read an article somewhere that he is the most successful coach in the big 3 tourneys in Kentucky. I think the King of Bluegrass, the 5th/3rd, and the LIT "I THINK" were the ones mentioned. Don't blast me if I am wrong as I don't have time right this second to research and find the article. I will if I need to later on, but he definitely has done a great job. Didn't he win a state title in Texas before coming to Trinity???
  8. I was looking @ the Trinity website and saw the their freshmen were 18-2 this year and JV was 22-3. I know it is a step up when talking about varsity, but with the guys they have back along with this young group, it looks like they are set to beat battling for the top spot for quite some time now.
  9. I agree w/Coach Henley and should have had him on my original list as I saw 2 of his state title games and all the games in the sweet 16 of his each of those years and came away totally impressed. Thanks for the info on why Coach Booher hasn't been as successful @ Holmes. I already had him on my list and knew there had to be good reasons as to why Holmes hadn't been back in the sweet 16 yet. Both great coaches! Henley just got the Eastern job and they will now continue to be even, ahead or right on the heels of Ballard & Trinity.
  10. I forgot about O Hearn & Salsman. I was impressed with both when I was at the Sweet Sixteen several years ago. Can't wait to see Perry coach one day, hopefully very soon.
  11. I posted this about 5 or 6 years ago when I first became a member to familiarize myself w/the top coaches in Ky. I now am much more familiar but still interested in opinions. I am wondering with this years title and past success should Coach Szabo be included? I saw his team play in Fort Myers @ Christmas and even though they lost I was impressed with the stuff they ran and how sound they were defensively. Does Coach Booher's title on 2010 launch him into the elite? I myself have watched several either live or mostly online, and I only mention the ones I have actually seen coach, so there are still many I haven't had the pleasure of watching which is one reason I have done this post. I like to watch great coaches coach to help me become a better coach myself, so if I know who they are I can try to find ways to do so. My top guys would be Billy Hicks, Jason Booher (although I thought he would have done better sooner @ Holmes), Allen Hatcher (and I know some will blast me because of them getting upset, but I have watched AND coached against him and nobody will convince me he isn't one of the best), Dale Mabrey, Mike Szabo, Chris Renner, Tim Riley definitely was and will be if he gets back in, Troy Barr (I like what I have seen of his teams although I haven't seen them very much at all), Al Holland, Jeff Jackson (has been highly successful at 2 different programs), Wayne Breeden (just seems to always win or be in games his teams probably shouldn't), Scott Hundley was very impressive the games I saw online. A couple of names I have heard but never got to see is Matthew Perry & Tim Davis. I know many will say you are only mentioning the bigger schools etc.. which is true, but remember I am only talking about the ones I have gotten to see and I coach in Florida, so my times and means are limited. There are some I have seen that I don't think belong on here so I didn't just mention every coach from KY I have ever seen. Please chime in. Sorry for the extremely long post.
  12. Moore has filled. What are these and the other schools going to do with summer ball about to begin. Seems odd not to get a coach in place for the summer for many reasons.
  13. Eastern Iriquois Moore All of these just in Louisville area. There are others too, just can't think of them.
  14. Some of the former graduates (Kyrie Irving) are trying to see what they can do to keep it from closing, but I think it is a done deal unless Kidd-Gilchrest and a few others pitch in to help long term over short term.
  15. True, and actually Johnson only left New Jersey because his coach Kevin Boyle took the job at Montverde in Florida and he followed him down to Florida. Montverde is a very high level boarding school who in their defense doesn't compete for the state championship in Florida in basketball. They do compete in other sports.
  16. He was an asst or manager or something back w/Eddie Sutton @ UK. He has a great juco record including a national title. I have seen him coach. He can really coach at the juco level. Not sure how he will do in hs w/obviously less talent, but it should be interesting. Was one of the better juco coaches I studied while coaching juco as an asst., and I studied a bunch of them.
  17. Moore had a great team this past year. How were their jv&freshman teams? Was their varsity young or mostly seniors?
  18. I think he does, but I will have to check to be sure.
  19. Opinons of where the Iroquois job rates within the state. I personally think the Eastern job is a great job. I know Iroquois was very strong several years when Coach Just was there and has been very solid with Coach Stinnett.
  20. Heard they just hired reknowned juco coach & Texas Tech asst. Jeff Kidder as head coach.
  21. I did not realize Moore was open. What happened there?
