  1. It must have been before that because I checked the Fayette County site on Wednesday and the job was not up there at that time.
  2. The basketball job is no longer listed on this site, so they must have the number of names they are looking for to replace former coach Chiles.
  3. I don't know why it seems so odd, but anyway I coach at Bay HS in Panama City, Florida and we host the Barnstorm Classic after Christmas and year before last had Rockcastle County in our tournament. I have coached against a few coaches from Kentucky during my career (Bill Mike Runyon, Allen Hatcher, & Steve Wright). I have seen other guys from Ky, coach in person (Billy Hicks, Bart Flener, Danny Haney, Chris Renner, Dale Mabrey, Lloyd Gardner before he retired, plus others). I myself am always looking for well coached teams for our tourney, plus I am always looking for ways to improve even though I have been very successful (4 state championships as a head coach and 3 more as an assistant), and one of the best ways is to find out who the better coaches are and try to see them play, or email them, call them, write them, whatever works. That is why I know a lot of coaches names and why I am always inquisitive about who is coaching where, their backgrounds things like that. I have always thought and still think that coaching high school basketball at a successful school in Kentucky has to be the ultimate for a high school coach. I hope this answers your question, and I certainly hope you don't take any offense to my answer because I certainly didn't mean to offend you if I have.
  4. Sorry I may ask some seemingly dumb questions sometimes, but since I am from Florida I am not always familiar with names familiar to most of you, but where does Todd Messer coach now, head, asst. ???? Just wondering.
  5. Why is it that several of these jobs are not yet listed on the KHSAA website as open jobs????
  6. Has Trigg decided to open the job up, or hire the assistant, and if so what is his name?
  7. I have to agree with all mentioned above, but I think 2 guys that never get enough credit are Chris Renner who took a team with basically no returning impact players and played the state champions to their closest game throughout the playoffs. Also state champion coach Jeff Morrow has had several outstanding years in a row, and finally capped those off with a state championship.
  8. The fact that N. Broward won does not surprise me at all, but the score or point differential really does, and probably for different reasons than most of you, as I am from Florida, and North Broward is not one of the better teams in Florida this year as they normally are. Unless they have had some players become eligible at the break, they are not expected to be much of a threat to make it very far in the playoffs down here in Florida. None of this is meant as any disrespect to Coach Haney, as I have always thought he is one of the better coaches in the southeast if not the country, he just doesn't have the type of players that he has had in the past there.
  9. Bowers actually was the basketball coach at BA at least one year because i saw him coach in Tallahassee, Florida when i was young, (which was a LONG time ago) and beat a much more talented Tallahassee Rickards team in the finals of the Governors Cup, which used to be a great tournament here in Florida played at the Civic Center. Maybe I need to give him a call and see if he needs a basketball coach at the new exquisite school LOL! Thanks abunch for the info. Seigel is in my tournament this coming week (Barnstorm Classic in Panama City, Fl.) so i'll keep you updated on their results.
  10. Yes Allen Edwards went there, as did Douglas Edwards and many many other great players. They were the 6-A state champs last year in Florida with mostly underclassmen, but have been decimated by players going to private schools which happens way too often in our state. Edwin Rios one of the top juniors in the country went to Chaminade-Madonna, as did Jonathon Hall their 3rd best player last year a 6-7 wing player. Collins is a great player, and Carreno does a very good job coaching, but they are trying to regroup after losing all of those players late this summer.
  11. Do you know anything about Seigel HS in Tn.? They are coming to my tournament in Florida and are supposed to be very good. Brentwood is blessed to have outstanding players and an outstanding coach in George Pitts. Brentwood had a great coach many years ago named Ricky Bowers, any idea where he is now???
