  1. I just saw where Tim LaGrange was named head coach at Jeffersonville, so i spoke too soon on them not having a coach yet.
  2. Any predictions? I know many of the top teams in the state are representing here. Ballard, Male, PRP, Fairdale, J-town, Manual, Eastern, Shelby Co., Lex. Catholic, plus Jeffersonville, Indiana. Anyone know who is going to coach Jeffersonville? Haven't heard that they have named a coach yet. Should be a great tourney. Too bad Scott Co. & Mason Co. aren't in it too at full strength.
  3. Pretty funny stuff above. In a strange twist from referees, unless I have missed it, we still haven't heard who won all of the divisions. Anyone have that info?
  4. Who had the better records at the camp, and who ended up winning it?
  5. Anyone have any updates on this camp. Quite a few good teams playing in this one.
  6. Looks like there may be a minimum of 7-8 sweet sixteen contenders at this camp. Hopefully someone can keep us abreast of the games.
  7. It will be interesting to have the first Indiana team in this tourney. One question is who will their coach be, and will they play against their former coach???
  8. Absolutely, and thing is is that his teams are very good at whatever style he decides to play.
  9. Wow, what a twist. I hope Coach Hatcher ends up where will best suit him. He will do an outstanding job at either place, but him at UHA is kind of scary for other teams in that region.
  10. Oh ok, Matanzas in Palm Coast. A brand new school, hasn't even had its first graduating class yet I don't think. Thanks, now I can tell my buddies which school has an opening.
  11. Jimmy Just has left Jeff to become the new coach at Manual. Has some great young talent. Can he be the guy to get them to Lexington over the next few years, and now where does he rank among coaches in his region?
  12. First of all I have wondered when people were going to mention David Henley as a top coach in his region or the entire state. 2nd of all I somewhat agree with the statement a coach shouldn't completely change his or her style according to the talent they have, BUT the key word is completely. I think a coach absolutely has to at least alter the way the play according to the talent they have. I like to run and press with the best of them, but I was at a school a few years ago where my talent was minimal, so instead of pressing and running as much, I move most of my presses to 3/4 or 1/2 court as opposed to full, and only picked certain areas or times to trap. I just don't think you can coach the exact same way every year in high school unless you are at a school that just has enormous talent year after year. Of course like other things that is just my opinion.
  13. It will help MC in the long run playing most or all of their games this summer without Darius.
  14. What school in Florida was he at? I am from Florida at a 4A school, so i was just wondering what school now has an opening. I have a couple of friends that are assistant coaches who are looking for head jobs, so I am always keeping my ears to the ground. Kind of funny to hear about a Florida job on a Kentucky message board I guess though. Thanks in advance for any info.
  15. You are absolutely right! It was the 93-94 team. My memory is good, it is just short in my older age LOL. Yes Burnette was the kid who got hurt. He was a beast in the post at 6-4. I think they would have had a legitimate shot at winning it all had he not have gotten hurt. He was one of their leading scorers if not their leading scorer, and certainly was their leading rebounder at the time that he got hurt. Thanks for correcting me.
  16. In the 95-96 season i think it was, we (Malone, Fl.) played Graves in the Kindgom tourney in Ocala and he had a great 3 point shooting team and they ran and pressed. At one point in the game 7 straight trips 3 pointers were made. Unfortunately they started that streak and ended it and ended up beating us by 6. He might have won the sweet sixteen that year if his very good post player (can't remember his name) hadn't have blown his knee out in January. Coach Hatcher is more than capable of coaching any style, but is going to do what any great coach does, and that is give his team the very best chance to win. Good luck Coach Hatcher.
  17. Can others post a team list for the LC camp, the WKU camp, and the Bluegrass camp in Frankfort?
  18. More people might remember him as Anthony Bonner. I think some players either did not get to play there this year or transferred out amidst all of the controversy. That game will most likely be much better than the Mason County game.
  19. Did not see the story, but almost 20 years ago I coached a 7th grader who only had one arm and a nub about half as long as his normal arm (very similar to Jim Abbott), and he was the best basketball and baseball player in his grade at that time. I went on to another school and my best friend coached him through the end of his career. Unfortunately his senior year was cut short by a car accident, but he averaged over 20 points, 7 steals, and 6 assists per game, and was the baseball teams best pitcher for his soph, and junior season. His team his senior year was ranked as high as #4, and was one of our biggest threats to us not winning our class state championship before he & his best friend were taken from us. Stories like this are few and far between. Just thought I would throw this one out there upon seeing this post. Moral of the story, is to not ever sell yourself short of things you think you might not be capable of.
  20. Henderson County is one of 3 interesting jobs that have come open in the past week or so. The other 2 being University Heights & Graves County.
  21. Now probably the top 2 contenders for the state championship next year are both in big-time pre-Christmas tournaments. Scott County to Fort Myers and Mason County to Hawaii, which I had mentioned in the Scott County 07-08 schedule thread. Both teams will benefit greatly from the trememdous competition at each of the tourneys.
  22. Arlington Country Day loses all 5 starters but they'll probably just reload. Should be interesting. I would think Rice would be the favorite, as they return all 5 starters, and Westchester is always good. Should be some great competition for Mason County.
  23. Getting capable help for a shot clock is certainly a valid concern, but I watched one of the best high school teams I have ever seen during 05/06 (DeLasalle out of Ca.) and they ran the princeton type offense and did not have 1 shot clock violation, so I don't think it would take a patient team out of its game, although I also agree that it gives underdogs a better chance without a shot clock. As a coach if you have the less talented team, then the less trips up & down the court that game the better your chances are.
  24. I tried that but the only problem is that I am not a member of those sites and really don't want to pay to ask the 1 question, but thanks for trying.
