  1. Does anyone trust the KHSAA at this point to have the best interest of the kids in mind? With a majority of the votes, will it ever end until it is legislated to the point where public and private split?
  2. Who do they beat and why?
  3. All loses except Pitt. unless they need the game to go bowling. 4-8 or 3-9. No way do they win 6, and if they find a way who wants them with so many good teams in the Big East? How about winning a game at home and forget bowl games. When does basketball start?
  4. Ask me after they lose to Cinncinnati, Connecticut, South Florida, and West Virgina all on the road, and Rutgers at home. Thank You Pittsburgh. 4-8. The worst team in the Big East verses WKU? Interesting. If they played it in Bowling Green, I doubt WKU would win, but it would probably take a last minute drive for a touchdown by Brohm, after having been down at half, and the defense giving up 30+ points.
  5. Millions of dollars better spent somewhere else. What about non revenue sports that don't have a chance to see these kind of facilities? U of L will not fill up or sell out another 20,000 seats. They had a good thing going. This is not enough to mortgage the house on. Without the ticket sales - tution is going up. What does this have to do with football? Everything. Football results are bad - you won't sell the 40,000 you have now next year. No tradition of selling out. Come on Louisville - get better and make it up the last half of the season!
  6. The Titanic is sinking. The ship that couldn't be sunk. U of L is on a collison course with the cellar of the Big East. One year wonder. 10,000 votes to sink by the end of the 3rd quarter as voted by the fans. What should a program do? Build an addition to the stadium!!!!!!
  7. When you lose, everything hurts. How good does last year look now? This year's team doesn't appear to understand the difference to get there. Maybe because Brohm and others came back they just decided that the SEC, Big Ten and the other teams in the Big East would just lay down and quit. Syracuse is a bad team and so might be Louisville. 30,000 votes on that by the end of the 3rd quarter. I think if you want players to believe in themselves when they're down, seeing fans in the stands always helps. A bit of player discipline which is all coaching helps as well. Coach K was sold as a players coach. What does that mean now? Lack of discipline and preparedness trying to be a nice guy? Maybe Coach K believed the how great art we story also. Tulsa is a different environment as I'm sure he has found out by now.
  8. Louisville's season seems to have ended when they lost to Kentucky. No winning tradition that pushes them to bounce back against Syracuse. One good national level performance year and done. Coaches ( John L, Petrino) leave a mid level program that overachieved with fans that can't fill a 40,000 seat stadium in the conference opener? The old guard of football teams must think that Louisville was a one hit wonder. This is a lesson in what it takes to build tradition. Win all games you should and bring it in games you shouldn't. Do we still want to build the upper level?
  9. St. X snaps one over the head of the punter and gets tackled at the one yard line. TD Crimsons - one yard drive. The ST.X penalty yardage helped keep M in the game. One St.X TD was called back on a penalty. St.X defense came up with a couple of big stops. Offense had a few big plays and ran out the clock late. A win is a win. Manuel is a good team. St.X could play much better, especially on Offense and special teams. A win none the less. Moving on. It was nice to be back at the old stadium.
  10. Which one matters the most right now? You've got 364 days to think about it. Go Cats!!!!!
  11. Go Cats!!!!!! What a difference a few seasons make. KY finally believed they could win in the 4th quarter and they pulled it off. Louisville has a great offense, but tonight they couldn't outscore another better team. BIG BLUE NATION.
  12. Assumption is the favorite for many good reasons. There are many other good teams including Mercy and Sacred Heart that could beat Assumption. Will they? IMO - no. Too much talent and tradition.
  13. That's sounds like a great idea. I listen to every game I can and the level of professionalism is there. I also would like a few more minutes at the end for more wrap up after the game. I do my part, listen to the sponsors and have made decisions on that as I looked around for services.
  14. Goal line stand against Male, 1st and goal from the 2. Tronzo's senior year. Male tried to run the ball inside 3 times and three times Tronzo and company stopped them. A 4th down rollout pass went incomplete. The point? I saw all this from the endzone fence 12 yards away! If only the new stadium could match that! Like the endzone at John Hardin - right on the back of the endzone. I love Manual stadium.
  15. I for one am excited for the next St.X season and think Trinity deserves plenty of respect for what they have done in the 2006 and 2005 state championships. Trinity has 17 titles. More respect. Next year's St.X team will have a lot of talent returning and a new stadium, along with other campus improvements. The team will have an opportunity to build a new tradition with the stadium, and attract a lot of interest given the all around excellence at St.X Do we need more team speed? yes. Do we need a better passing game? yes. Do we need someone other than Duece to run the ball? yes. Do we need a few lineman to step in and produce on both sides of the ball? yes. Do we need MUCH better special teams? yes. All very possible and if done right - by Coach G., we will join the all star swim team, golf team, tennis team, wrestling team, baseball team, soccer team etc by teaching Xaverian lessons that enjoy everyone on the field and off. The answer to you question - " What now for the Tigers?" the same as the last 140+ years in Louisville - build Christ centered man who are lead by Christ centered coaches, and come together to do our best - the same as Trinity. The result is to be enjoyed, cherished and laid along side all the other jobs well done. But laid down none the less. A job well done to ST. X this year. This year Trinity won another title. There is no other answer.
  16. What do you say to a 17 year old kid that poured his heart into X for 4 years, gave it everything he had, didn't get to really play Trinity his senior year, loved his "9-3" teammates, win or lose, cried after the game and worried about his friends that were hurt? He also loved to watch DVD's of the games with his Dad, recreate plays on the driveway, play at WKU's stadium, was awed by playing in Paul Brown stadium. Now he realizes that he will never play the game again like this or love something so much with so many? For some It's easy to forget what it's all about. Trinity and Male has the same kind of kids and it's not everyone on the team. They make the sport what it is. Good Game Male. Good Luck Trinity. St. X taught my son many lessons the least of which is to work hard and never quit no matter what. Of course he wanted to win. Now he wants to understand why it hurts so much? The answer he will work out next to me in the stands and if I'm lucky we can teach it to another Tiger, around 2031! Go Tigers and remember you are always a "Band of Brothers" no matter what your record was, how you lost one game and most importantly what other say or do.
  17. Way to go Rockets! The Tradition continues and you guys added one more! Assumption is KY Volleyball. Congratulations to all the Rockets, and those that made the list above.
  18. Assumption goes beyond dominance - they are in a "golden era". Does this bother anyone? I expect that winning 13 of the last 15 state championships does upset the publics. How do the publics explain their dominance? Is Assumption next for the KHSAA to legislate against because they can? In the end if your a Catholic school fan - what's not to like? Enjoy it girls, you earned it. G0 Rockets.
  19. Thanks for the year ST.X - be proud. Good game Male. Go Rocks!
  20. Womens Volleyball? Private School dominance - Assumption, Sacred Heart, Mercy and Presentation all have one thing in common - every girl almost without exception plays year round. That explains how they win within KY. They also win consistently at a National level against girls that have year round commitments? Assumption was National Champion last year and #2 in the Nation this year. The other schools are nationally ranked year in and out. Talented and year around play. Commitment to the sport. Most matches for the above aren't against in state teams during the regular season, other than themselves, because of the lack of competition. If you want to beat the above teams commit to play year round.
  21. Respectfully - Is it important enough to discuss during the season? I think your hesitation to post was the right direction.
  22. St. X Offense vs. Male Defense - Run to set up the pass to set up the run. Penalties have killed drives many times this year and if St. X can drive the field early (hard to do against 9 in the box Male), St. X advantage. Throwing over the top of the defense an obvious choice. St.X offense has been a second half offense typically. This didn't help in game 1 and needs to change Friday. Drive blocking was tough in the mud, game 1, with the advantage to the Male offense which set up in shotgun (pass blocking) quite a bit more. Male Defense may fatigue second half and they seem to have trouble lining up on time some of the time. Male Offense vs. St.X Defense - Forget "containment rush" from the D Line like first half game 1 on Gaines. Pursue Gaines (trouble looking up field and throwing when scrambling under close pressure) and don't let him have the time to scramble, set up and throw, like the first half game 1. If he has the time Male will win. Male will score. St. X LB's key to game with D line in hot pursuit. St. X Defense can beat Male if they stop QB from making big plays. Beaumont a super talent but not likely to beat St.X by himself. Spec. Teams - St. X needs to keep lane discipline on KO and not let Male outside after starting middle. Big advantage 1st half game 1 with great field position. Second half showed effect on tackling Male early with 20-30 more yards on tough ST.X Defense. ST. X Kickoff longer now with new kicker. Limit returns with end zone kicks. St. X block in the back, probably 1/3 of the kick returns killing field position. Extra points? . Championship Game atmosphere in round 2. Hard to predict this game - too many variables. Just enjoy.
  23. Manual's only TD comes when ST X QB throws a quick pass to Victor A. and Manual's D steps in front and runs down to inside 20 yard line, Victor A. makes the tackle. Offense for St. X mostly all big plays, no consistent long drives, especially early and comes out flat in the first half (trend all year - Male, Trinity, Manual first game...). Manual scores on first drive (field goal) - after that St. X defense plays great. Extra points for St.X's continues to be trouble. Kind of get the feeling that if St.X can find the motivation to get rolling early and often, they will be hard to beat by anyone. Moving on to round 2 - good luck and great job Tigers!
  24. IMO - Most people I know sacrifice to find $ because it is worth every car pool hour, every weekend tournament eating out of the back of the car, every crowded, hot and noisy gym, every long drive out of state, every week off of work and practices 3 or 4 times a week, every airport, hotel and doubling up on rooms - all because someone you love loves her friends and volleyball. Life is rarely so simple and wonderful, but not easy. Family and Volleyball. All together. Every girl, every year. I hope more people sacrifice for something together. The $ get lost somewhere in the beginning.
  25. Congratulations to Assumption 2006! You truly are awesome and add to a long tradition. Another great year and another State Title! GO ROCKETS!
