St. X had alot of penalities that kept a team without their starting QB in the game.

It looks like Bowling Green has gotten up over the last 2 years to play st.x. Is Bowling Green a 4A or 3A Team? what was the score last year?

Ugly game for the Tigers....too many penalties (13)....and many other mis-cues....fumbles

 

Special teams which is usually one of X's strong suits was not effective this night....blocked X-tra points...busted punt by BG for a 1st...Sad:irked:

 

Vic missed much of the game with leg cramps.

 

 

Good news is that Duece straight out of a cast and hamstring problems filled in nicely. Can't wait to see both healthy and in the backfield together..

Mine was close, I predicted st. x in a very low scoring, penality infected game. Typical 1 st game of the season for both teams, I did not predict so many turnovers though.

Still a good win for St. Xavier on the road.

I know it's early and it's second hand info but I'm surprised at the overwhelming number of mistakes.

The BG offense is struggling. They played tonight without their starting QB and RB Avery Hibbitt tonight.

Just got in from the game. I was impressed with Finch kid for sure. Just a soph. but had some great cuts when the ball was in his hands. QB rotation was a concern as I felt neither team had QB'S at the best even though the #1 BG QB was out for the game. I also wonder about the Hibbits kid from BG. Went out with a high ankle injury ( I believe ) in 1st qt. and did not return. I wonder what difference would he had made. Opinions??

I didn't know Hibbit was out. That is about the worst blow that could happen to the Purples offense. I hope he's OK. Did they turn the ball over much? Is this years Purples defense anywhere as good as last years?

Hibbitt actually already had the sprain from a scrimmage, or so I was told. That certainly didn't help them.

 

It sounds cliche to say, but the game truly wasn't this close. BG could not move the ball without the help of their QB and star RB. They had no passing game to speak of, and their running game was rarely on track. They probably wouldn't have scored if not for an ill-advised X lateral that was recovered on the 10 yard line. BG then punched it in for their only score.

 

A huge momentum moment occurred not long after that. With X up 9-7, they threw it right at BG CB Ryan Beard at about the 50, and he dropped a sure INT. Momentum could have swung on that moment, and they could have been right there. On that drive, X would eventually get the final score of the game.
