At Williamsburg

Call me crazy....but I really think this will be a defensive struggle and not alot of scoring. I have seen both teams and was very impressed with Harlan's defense. M'boro does a nice job with its veer and can be effective in the passing game. Overall, in the end , I think depth is the key....M'boro 17, Harlan 14.

Williamsburg has Evarts Friday in a must win for the Jackets to keep Playoff hopes alive. The Jackets come into the game banged up with Both Hamlin and Moses limited. Aarron Root has really stepped up on offense as a runner, but more impressive is his pass catching, and the way he runs after catch. Evarts is big and physical with its wing t offense. Can the pass happy Jackets slow down the ground attack of Evarts....I'll go on a limb and say Jackets at home in a close one...27 to 20.

Harlan has a real fine team. I was impressed with the Lundy kid especially. For Williamsburg, the Root kid was the big play guy this game, 3 receptions for over 100 yards from the fullback position, with 3 TDs. Hamlin and Moses were limited by injury and Root really stepped it up on offense. He also had a very nice game on defense with over 20 tackles and a pass break up. If Harlan is playing Somerset at home they have a shot. Just have to be ready for the speed the Jumpers bring. Hopefully the "Burg will win out and see the Dragons again come playoff time.

Aaron Root was big for Williamsburg against Harlan. 3 Receptions for 119 yards and 3 TDs, 20 plus tackles on defense, forced fumble and a pass break up.

Somerset did a great job exposing the jackets youth in the secondary. Williamsburg did miss several opportunities, but that being said it would have been Somerset 66 W'burg 50...Somerset is the real deal and if they come up with a defense...wow!

The Campers may be down a bit this year but the Roskopf kid is the real deal. He has strapped this team to his back and carried the load. To be honest I thought even with Reynolds and Scalf last year, he was the best of that three headed monster.

Agree on the Zachary kid...nice hands, good speed, decent size and looks like he may grow more.

Tyler Rollins from Williamsburg should not be overlooked. He's gonna be a bull!

Dragon, I agree with you. Root is having another good year for an improved Jacket defense. He is averaging around 14 tackles a game from what i hear, and although only 5'8", is receiving alot of interest from MSC schools and several D2 and D3 schools. From what I've heard from his coaching staff the kid will not be outworked and has a motor that just don't quit!

To me its perfectly acceptable, even preferable for a High School annoucer to be a homer. Having coached all over the south I've heard some great ones! When it gets to college and pro broadcasts the announcers should be more analytical and un biased, but for HS, I love the pictures a homer paints as he relates to the listening audience the trails and successes of his High School team!

Aaron Root FB\LB from Williamsburg is a pleasant surprise this year. Catches the ball well out of the backfield, and runs hard behind his pads. Had a very good night Friday with 140 yards on 9 carries and broke a screen 50 yards for a TD. Has been recruited as a LB, but is now starting to get some attention as a running back.

Sorry I wasn't refering to you as far as busting on a kid or a team as so many do, and did not intend that you had done so. Sometimes I get cranky...lol at some of the posts I read (not necessarily yours). I have enjoyed the rivalry with Lynn Camp and think Coach Mitchell and his staff are classy guys. But you have to admit there are folks in our district who get on this site and are pretty dang obnoxious and say derogatory things about other kids. Having played through high school, college, and a little pro, I respect the heck out of any kid who straps it on, busts their butts, and even in my book if they play on a lousy team they are sucessful. Lets face it, if it was easy everyone would do it.

Living in a state where all sports are classified (Tennessee), and having lived in other states where all sports are classified (Tx, NC, SC), I would love to see KY be claasified in all sports.

Was alluding to the fact Williamsburg has improved on defense greatly, did not mention iron curtain anywhere in my post. I guess I like taking the high ground on posts as i do not critisize nor am I sarcastic about the teams others follow. Since this is a fan's posting site I realize some folks can't contain themselves and can be obnoxious. I realize these high school kids get on here and read posts, and since I can no longer take a snap and playing days are gone, I try to post in such a manner that if a young man who is busting his rear in this sport reads it, he is reading something positive and not smart, derogatory, or degrading. Sorry for the discourse, but sometimes adult fans can be the biggest kids on here.

This is a long running rivalry game, 60 years old I've been told. I believe Pineville leads this series and have heard you can throw out the records when these 2 meet. Pineville is much improved, and Williamsburg seems to be playing tough defense. This is the last time these 2 will meet as district rivals. Any thoughts or predictions? I'm going to take Williamsburg in this one. Pineville seemed to hang with Lynn Camp for the 1st half, but I think the Jackets offense has been clicking fairly well with the combo of Frazier to Hamlin, and the emergence of Will Moses, Aaron Root, Dusty Brown, and Aaron Brock gives Williamsburg several threats. On defense, the Jackets have shown a tenacity not seen since the days of Coach Rose. These kids, Led by all district LB Aaron Root will flat out hit you. Tyler Rollins has really stepped up his game on the d-line, and Charlie Bryant has found a home at d-end. My prediction for this rivalry game is Jackets 31 - Mountain Lions 12

Although we may not know the details, God in His infinite wisdom does. As we are told in scripture we can do all things through Christ. My prayer is that wisdom, comfort, and strength are granted by God's infinite grace in this situation.

Would love to see the Colonels win but I think Lincoln Co. will prevail, 34 - 20.

Hate to agree and would love to see Corbin win, but this is a good guess.

LC 49 Pineville 14

Aaron Root from Williamsburg gets my vote. Averaging around 15 tackles a game and has proven to be a hard nosed runner with good hands and surprising speed for the Jackets from the fullback slot.

At Williamsburg, Freshman Safety Dusty Brown has 3 interceptions in 3 Games.

Williamsburg continues their Tennessee portion of the schedule this week against the Onieda Indians. Alumni Weekend in the 'Burg will bring out a huge crowd for the game. Onieda is a well coached power football team. The pass happy Jackets have been playing pretty good defense the past 2 games with some surprising play on the part of Freshman Dusty Brown (3 ints in 3 games). Charlie Bryant had a huge game against McCreary and may have found his home at D end (3 sacks I think against McCreary). Aaron Root has been his steady self, an interception and fumble recovery against the Raiders, and is averaging in the 12 to 15 tackles per game range. The biggest improvement in the d has been the play of Elias Abner(75 yard fumble return for td) and Tyler Rollins. Chase Hamlin Broke out huge on offense with 4 tD catches against McCreary, And Frazier seems to be making better decisions with the ball.Will Moses has also been catching the ball well, and Root is proving to be much more than 3 and a cloud of dust out of the fullback Position, and is showing great hands catchng the ball. I look for the 'Burg to have too many weapons and too much speed for the Indiands....Jackets 34 Indians 14.
