Even though Williamsburg had their way with McCreary, I did see some improvement. If the offense can gain a little imagination and get the ball in #23's hands a bit more, I'll pick McCreary by 14.

Well Said. Whitley will have to crawl before they can walk. Coach Black will take a few lumps but in the long run his offense will do well. From what I am hearing play calling by the OC has been a big part of the problem.

From talking to Aaron and his dad he has heard from about 15 schools, NAIA, D2 and D3. Campbellsville and Mt. St. Joseph's are weekly letter writers, and Murray State has also shown interest. If this kid was 6 ft. tall instead of 5'8" he could play at a high level. Has a nice motor and lays it all on the line every game. Goes both ways and seems to rarely if ever come out. Some college coach is going to get a kid that will kill himself to play. He sure is fun to watch and has really surprised with his speed and field vision at FB.

I admit to being a Williamsburg fan. I respect Lynn Camp and what they have accomplished. Mr. Fundamental is obviously more expert than any of us, and I'm sure year in and year out his team wins title after title. I also know from reading his posts he is knowledgeable beyond compare. So folks like LC99 and I should bow humbly to his expertise and knowledge. I hope to be educated further by this brilliant individual.:sleep:

In the past 2 games 7 different recivers have caught ball for Williamsburg. Root has broken 4 or 5 runs of 30 plus yards, with one being 71 yards and another 69, not bad for a center. Heard he was timed in the 4.7 range at Murray state earlier this summer. Frazier is completing over 60 per cent of his passes. 2 freshman as well as Will Moses are catching the ball well, and Hamlin is still a huge threat. Not sure what you saw at the Knox game, must have had different seats.

Listening to the game, the announcers made it sound as if this were a physical mismatch, that the QB was indecisive, and that 5 turnovers were killers. Sounded as well as if North's running back was the real deal and a handful for the Colonels.

Remember Williamsburg is a 1a school. Farragut is 5a. Williamsburg plays 13 to 15 players both sides. Farragut plays 50 players in a game....geez get real. Williamsburg has 109 boys in the entire high school. Sure I'd like to see the burg play Corbin again, and a Bechwood every now and again, but right now you line up and play what you have on your schedule. A point you should consider is that this coaching staff had nothing to do with setting this schedule. Yes I do think Williamsburg improved tonight as any time you get on the field with opposite colored jerseys you get an opportunity to work on timing, plays, and situations at a different speed than practice. Also, as far as playing a weak sister from time to time, wonder why the big boys in the NCAA schedule division 1aa opponents? Auburn plays Western, Uk I think has a couple of those scheduled. Sure big money involved, but also the chance to play alot of bodies, gain experience, and develop depth. As far as you team goes, I bet they have played some stinkers in the past as well. From your posts you seem to be a Whitley guy. Being a huge fan of Jim Black I wish him the best over there, but I have seen them play a few in the past over there that didn't belong on the field with the Colonels.

Stan Lovette and Rick Campbell do the Williamsburg games and Stan is a poor man's John Ward. He's a homer for the Jackets and looks at the world thru Orange tinted glasses. I love hearing him broadcast! His excitement and enthusiasm bring back memories for me of several great radio men. He makes a one yard gain sound like the most exciting play in football. Williamsburg folks sure are lucky to have a fellow broadcast that loves the school, players, and community the way this guy does. Whoever pays him is getting a great bang for their buck!!!!

Dusty Brown, freshman receiver at Williamsburg. Nice hands, very good downfield blocker with a nasty streak, needs to become a better route runner, but overall pretty impressive.

I think proximity has alot to do with this series. With the change to 6 classes I think the Jackets will have to look south for games anyway, and its not a bad thing to have a game you can count on. That being said, the Jackets exploded tonight. Frazier threw one pass that had to be at least 60 yards in the air fir a TD to will moses. Aaron Root had over 120 yards on 5 touches and scored twice. He is really a surprise at fullback and shows more speed than I imagined. Also the Jackets got to play alot of young people tonight. Ryan Moses looked good in relief of Frazier and hit Pettit on a fade route that was beautiful. Overall a nice tune up before McCreary County.

Had an uncle at the Middlesboro - Knoxville Central game and his comments about Middlesboro's performance were not good. He did say he thought the Earls kid was the best player on the field for Middlesboro. Having seen Lynn Camp, and thinking that the most improvement is between weeks 1 and 2, I think this will end up being a dogfight, with alot of offense. I'll say 34 to 31 and you pick the winner.

The Border War is tonight at Rose Stanfill Stadium in the 'Burg. No posts on this one so I thought I'd start one. Does the 'Burg bounce back from a heartbreaking 1 point loss to a Knox Central team they outplayed, does the new air attack offense of Jellico prevail? Williamsburg got some answers last week as Aaron Root showed to be capable at fullback with several tough runs and a 61 yard TD run after catch, but did fumble once. Frazier threw well and made good decisions most of the game but had an interception on a tipped ball and struggled to find receivers in the red zone. Hamlin made some plays but really needs to show more explosiveness. The kicking game really cost Williamsburg last week...is it fixed for week 2? Could be an interesting game but I think the Jackets rebound and win this one 42 to 13.

Oneida is a tough place to play. Haven't seen either team this year, and hate to go on past history, but until McCreary wins against a good team I'll take Oneida in a close one,

Everything I've seen or heard has Knox picked by anywhere from 2 points to 2 tds...not sure what experts you have heard.

The Knox Central \ Williamsburg game should be close. I think it's a tossup at this point. Williamsburg will be without a starter or two from what I've heard. I think Lynn Camp gives Leslie all they want and wins, again in a closer than projected game.

For a small single A school Williamsburg's field is awesome. They do a great job with the bermuda there. I have seen college fields not nearly as nice!
