BluegrassPreps.com and the Kentucky News Network are once again working together to promote high school football in Kentucky.

We are currently taking nominations for the BGP/KNN player of the week! The player of the week can be from any team and is based on game performance from this weekend.

Please submit your nomination in this thread and provide as much background/stats/information as possible from their game this week.

Also, from host Al Mayo:

Hey folks--it's been great using all the nominees (last year) week after week on the show, and we'll continue to use them for the foreseeable future. I wanted to remind you of a couple things. When you nominate a player, I need his height, weight, and class designation (Freshman, Sophomore, Etc). I also need the stats to be correct. Just telling me it looked like he ran for over a hundred yards won't do it. Please include all pertinent numbers like carries, pass attempts, completions, yardage gained, number of tackles--you all understand what I need. Otherwise, I have to track these numbers down. Not that I mind doing the legwork, but I normally save this part of the show for last, so I can take nominees until the last possible hour, so I just don't have the time to look it all up. I'll usually pull the information from here by Thursday afternoon, so try to have your candidates nominated by about 2:00pm Thursdays. I couldn't be happier with the information you've all provided, and I'm looking forward to continuing our association with BGP!

Alan Williams, junior TB, Marshall County ... over 300 all-purpose yards (190+ rushing, 130+ receiving) and seven touchdowns as Marshall County beat Daviess County 54-26. I can get exact stats later if you need them.

UPDATED TOTALS ON WILLIAMS FROM HIS COACH POSTED BY THEGURU:

We officially had Alan WIlliams(Marshall County) for 24 carries 243 yards and 4 TD's. Also, 8 receptions 138 yards w/ 3 TD's. School record 7 touchdowns and didn't play 2 series in 1st quarter or all of the 4th quarter.

Bobby Owens , RB Knott Central, over 300 yards rushing, multiple TD's, unsure of the complete stats, as I was just wowed by his performance, by what I read in the paper.

Gerald Epling III, 5ft6inch 146lbs senior safty/rb, belfry 1 interception, 100 all purpose yards and MVP against Class A defending state chapion N.C.C. Will get tackle stats to you as soon as i get them. This kid was all over the field.

Ricky Rhodes from Madison Central. Rhodes is a 5' 10" 165lb. junior running back. On Saturday August 19 against West Jessamine High School he had a total of 265 all purpose yards. He had 4 rushes for 181 yards and two touchdowns. He also returned a punt 61 yards for a touchdown.

Shane Popham PK CovCath....How many times has a High School young man kicked a Field Goal farther than most College or Professionals have? A 54 yard FG is something that isn't done even at the highest level each and everyday. I realize that many might not agree with a Place Kicker, but to have a weapon like Shane on your team, is indeed a great advantage to have....

Kaelin Ammons- 9 carries 188 yards, 5 TDS. 19 for 29 passing for 333 yards and 2 tds., also caught a pass.

Hank Simpson- 210 6'1 MLB #33 for Letcher Central vs Estill County

19 tackles, 1FR- 13 solos, 2assists, 4 TFL and 1FR

All in 3 Quarters because he was out in the 4th
