Beechwood 38 LCA 35
The 4th down play call was one that Beechwood had not stopped all game....until then, so it was a good call in my opinion. BW did an excellent job defending it and now the call can be second guessed. BTW, same scenario, same call in the 1st half= TD. Eagles went for on 4th down instead of the FG on the opposite end and came away with 6, no one is second guessing that call now. Rains made gutsy calls the whole game and most of them worked out in LCAs favor. I was very impressed with LCAs players- down 14, they didn't give up, down 10 late, didn't hang their heads- they played their hearts out- as did the BW kids. It was a fun game, that in the end could have gone either way. Congrats to BW!

I hear the next 2 seasons could put Boyle right back in the mix of things.

Ammons named Gridiron Great of the Year
Kaelin has several things working right now. The next week or two will be busy for him. He seems to be getting quite a bit of interest late in the game.

2007 Franklin County
As fas as I can tell FC has moved forward each of the past 4 seasons. FC has been in an 8 team district the past 4 seasons too which means they could only schedule 3 non district teams at the very beginning of the season. Not a lot of room to do much with a schedule under those conditions. 2007-08 schedule Louisville Western (10-2) 4A Lafayette (10-1) 6A Western Hills (3-7) 3A Frankfort (9-3) 1A Pendleton district Woodford (8-4) 5A Bourbon district Oldham (2-8) 5A Harrison district East Jessamine (8-3) 4A

Doug Beaumont Mr.Football
I agree, it's fun to debate how others see this thing. I think Ammons wound up 2nd because he does both run and pass- he did run for more yardage than Beaumont and passed for more than Petrino, but isn't actually considered a pure QB or RB, so I can see how things could work out. And that can also make some sense when looking at the all-state balloting.

Lex. Catholic 44 Franklin County 38 (OT)
The last play was a roll out pass, so the QB could throw if it was there or run it if not. Came up inches short.

The Tony Franklin Offense and Self-Help Series
David was average in size, strength, etc. What he did do was to play as he was coached. That's why he and O'Cath were successful. My point is, the qb in this type of system doesn't have to be superhuman, an average quarterback with average receivers and runningbacks behind an average line can run this offense and be successful.

The Tony Franklin Offense and Self-Help Series
O'Cath went to back to back championship games with 2 different QB's- one very good and one very average. Zach Bernard is at Marshall, David Woodward led them last year.

The Tony Franklin Offense and Self-Help Series
There are teams across the country running this offense and doing very well with average players. Any offense will be better with better athletes, this one gives the flexibility to distribute the ball easily and be able to do more with the average players that most teams have. Tony's system isn't as much about the X's and O's, everyone knows where most of the plays came from. The "system" is how to implement it, game plan, script, drill, and practice plan. System refers to the way in which the offense is installed and practiced and how to coach the details of each phase while getting as many repititions as possible.

Paul Dunbar vs PRP
I've had the opportunity to see both play, and think Dunbar has an excellent shot to win this one. Turnovers killed them last week. They fix that and PRP will have their hands full.

BluegrassPreps.com/Kentucky News Network Player of the week!
Kaelin Ammons- 9 carries 188 yards, 5 TDS. 19 for 29 passing for 333 yards and 2 tds., also caught a pass.

Franklin Co./Somerset Updates
I didn't see any taunting either. The fake punt was due to SHS not covering a wide out, not running up the score. The fake punts in the second were just so they could get some work in.

Not exactly the shootout, tight game many predicted.

Dunbar 28 Franklin Co. 17- Scrimmage
Taylor didn't play, Ammons didn't run or play defense. Hicks scored a TD, Metcalf had one, a freshman- Thompson scored once and they had a field goal.

Dunbar 28 Franklin Co. 17- Scrimmage
After further review there is sufficient video evidence to support the call on the field- 21-17 after 3 which was varsity, 7-6 in the 4th which was JV. Total- 28-23 Dunbar FC went up 10-0 in the 2nd, Dunbar scored to make it 10-7, FC came back down and scored again to make it 17-7, Dunbar ran back a KO to make it 17-14 at the 1/2. Dunbar scored near the end of the 3rd- 21-17, Fc punted at the start of the 4th- JV's went in for both teams.
