Ammons named Gridiron Great of the Year

Franklin County quarterback Kaelin Ammons was the big winner at the 11th annual Pepsi Gridiron Great Awards Dinner Thursday.

He has done well....Ammons also recieved the 3a Roy Kidd award. Congrats to Ammons, hopefully some of the colleges will wake up.

One of the best dual threat QB's I've ever seen in KY! He deserves all the accolades he gets.

Ammons was an awesome high school football player. Does the winner always come from the weekly winners? The reason I am asking is that several top players from the Lexington area (for example Wes Caldwell (Lexington Catholic) and Chase Minnefield (Henry Clay)) were not gridiron greats.

There was talk on here of him going to Georgetown possibly, any more word on that?

I heard Kaelin made an official visit to Georgetown today.

Kaelin has several things working right now. The next week or two will be busy for him. He seems to be getting quite a bit of interest late in the game.

That's great.I don't even personally know him but I've read about what a good player he was and all his accomplishments. It doesn't sound too good for a lot of other good players when a player of Kaelin's caliber isn't getting offers.
