2007 Franklin County

Flyers have steadily gotten better the last 4 years, will have a huge task of finding a replacement for Ammons and Newland. Other than that all seniors that played rotated with other players who are returning. The administration still needs to pony up for some decent facilities but the team seems to be on track.

Bleachers are awful, field was redone kinda, still pretty bad. Fieldhouse is not new, it has been neglected by maintenance and needs refurbished in areas such as flooring, roof, heat, and plumbing. The practice field is also in bad shape. The admin has slowly awaken to the needs of the program but still are in a daze. The football team is mostly on its own as far as funding.

Another place for improvement is in the middle school program there has not been any consitent coaching there and that has hurt the freshman program.

Lost in overtime last year to Lex Cath at Lex Cath who lost in last seconds against Cov Cath who one state. 2 years ago lost at Highlands who one the state tournament. Seems to me they aren't off by much.

Coach Walker and Coach Ledford will have plenty to work with next year. Almost all of the linemen return (except Newland) and several skill kids return as well. The difference is that with the new post-season brackets, they could go to semi-finals easily.

As for toughening up the schedule, he has... He plays a couple 4A teams next year in Lafayette and Woodford as well as some other quality programs outside of the district schedule.

I would guess that within the district, he is probably favored slightly above Harrison County.

However, the one thing that they must find is a leader. Ammons carried them whenever it was crunch-time. The question with Ammons was never can he do it; rather, how is he going to do it this time? If you don't believe, watch the tape of Catholic vs. County (or Revere vs. Ammons).

Franklin Co needs a serious upgrade to their schedule if they want their program to move forward. What is the Franklin schedule for the next 2 years?

As fas as I can tell FC has moved forward each of the past 4 seasons. FC has been in an 8 team district the past 4 seasons too which means they could only schedule 3 non district teams at the very beginning of the season. Not a lot of room to do much with a schedule under those conditions.

2007-08 schedule

Louisville Western (10-2) 4A

Lafayette (10-1) 6A

Western Hills (3-7) 3A

Frankfort (9-3) 1A

Pendleton district

Woodford (8-4) 5A

Bourbon district

Oldham (2-8) 5A

Harrison district

East Jessamine (8-3) 4A

By priority what would be on your list?

Wondering if athletic issues were discussed with the new sup. candidates.

The facilities at both county high schools and Frankfort high are an embarassment !We as supporters of these programs should be pushing this as an issue with the BOE.The Capitol of Ky should be a showcase instead of mediocre. The WORST field these kids play on is their own more often than not.
