Well it appears the rumours are true. Heard it from Gentry himself yesterday. Wonder what the superintendant thinks now? Wonder if Al Ysidro finally gets his shot?

Chase Hamlin at Williamsburg led class A in receiving last year and has wonderful hands and good speed. Receiving alot of college interest right now. Will Moses is lightening fast and is catching the ball better evry time out and should be a good threat. Aaron Root has very nice hands out of the backfield and brings a linebacker mentality to the fullback position. All 3 should have big years for Williamsburg.

Pretty doubtful.

LC99: I have to agree with you, saw Lynn Camp several times last year and I honestly thought Rosskopf was the best running back of the stable.

BTW, heard Pineville coach Tom Bryant has left and moved to Georgia to take a coaching position there, so more's the question on how Pineville will fare this fall.

LC99: I would have to agree with your early prognosis. One thing I saw from Williamsburg in the spring is that the weight room is really paying off and the Jackets will be a much faster team than last year, and should be a bit more physical as well. Some young receivers really seemed to step up and will give Frazier a few more targets than Hamlin (who in my opinion has the chance to be the top receiver in the state numbers wise.) The move of Root to fullback produced some nice results. He is heck on blitz pick up (which hurt the Jackets last year), hits the hole downhill, and showed a very nice set of hands catching the ball out of the backfield. Will Moses had a nice spring catching the ball, and is cat quick. Jusino, Rollins and Abner will lead the offensive line. Defensively the Jackets have a chance to be much better, but the key will be keeping Root healthy at LB. He missed the last 2 games last year, and the Jackets really suffered missing his 20 tackle per game average. Say what you will, but if Root was 6'2" instead of 5'9" there would be alot of recruiters looking at him. If Williamsburg can avoid the Injury bug, it wouldn't surprise me to see them pull off a terrific season. Frazier and Hamlin are both legtimate D1aa or D2 prospects, Jusino is lighting quick on the line, and developing young receivers such as Moses, Brock, and Brown, should make for an exciting season.

I don't know if he'll be the best, but look for big things from Williamsburg's Thomas Frazier. About 6'1", 225 lbs. with a cannon. Throws the long ball exceptionally weel and in the spring looked to be working hard on touch passes.

At Williamsburg there will be a few football players on the baseball team, Aaron Root, Elias Abner, Will Moses, Josh Abrams, but they work spring practice around baseball (usually football at night after baseball, and this seems to work out well.

I'm taking it he is a preferred walk on. Fine athelete, could play right away at a place like Eastern, hopefully he'll get a shot at UK.

I'm not familiar with the situation here, and although I was laughing pretty hard at this commentary, I realized this post, as with most social satire, possibly has more truth than humor in it. What a sad commentary on a public educational institution if that be the case.

Williamsburg will be more experienced in 2006 as a number of young people got valuable playing time. Williamsburg lost three seniors with the key losses being offensive linemen Richie Moses and Andrew Middleton. In an interesting move, I have heard Coach Black is moving Aaron Root ( 1st team all district, All SEKC, Linebacker of the year ) from center to fullback to shore up blocking. He should provide valuable protection for QB Thomas Frazier (2nd team all district ) to throw to a covey of solid receivers led by Chase Hamlin (All District, SEKC Receiver of the year, State reception leader), Will Moses, and Aaron Brock. The line will need to replace the excellent pass blocking skills of Moses, and Root at center, but should develop well. Elias Abner will step in for Root at the center position and needs to have a big year. I have heard he is possibly the most improved kid in the weight room. Also expecting to have a big year on both sides of the line will be AJ Jusino (2nd team all district, all SEKC). Overall, Williamsburg should be able to put points on the board and if a couple of d-lineman can be developed, the defense led by the outstanding linebacker play of Root could be a nice surprise.

At Williamsburg Aaron Root and Thomas Frazier are both already in the 900 lb. club (combination of total weight for bench, squat, and power clean) and both should top the 1000 lb. club by the time final maxes for the spring are done. These two kids are hosses!

Williamsburg linebacker Aaron Root was in on 32 tackles against Harlan this past year, 24 solos and 8 assists officially.

Sorry you didn't read or understand my post judgeone. I have never had a divorce but was alluding to the fact that life happens, change occurs, and sour grapes help no one. Yes this is a site for opinions to be expressed, some negative and some positive. As I know both Campbell and Gentry fairly well I have attempted to be positive in relation to both. To say That Gentry has enough pull to undermine is ridiculous. To say Campbell did a poor job is ridiculous as well. And in knowing Mr. Anderson he will make his own decisions based on his feelings as to how his school system can be best served. As I was trying to say, life happens, lets move on.

I keep reading these jabs at the new coach and have to wonder. Doesn't the superintendent have to do the hiring? How can an outsider undermine something as much as the new coach is getting accused of? Sometimes jobs, marriages, relationships just get to the point of diminished returns and it's time for change. Maybe that was the situation here. I have left positions during my life where I felt I had done all I could and looked for new and fresh opportunities...isn't it possible that those in the decision making process could have said ok this is as far as it can be taken and let's look at a fresh situation and different energy? I wish the former coach well, and will watch expectantly to see how the new coach fares. I guess bottom line to me is that someone cares about the kids and gives them an opportunity to be successful.

Several times in this thread the term "Red Storm" Has been used in discussing Whitley's program. It is my understanding this term is to be eliminated and that "Colonels" is to be the only official and unofficial team name to be used. Anyone else hearing this? Is this a way of "cleansing" the old guard and setting forth on a new foot at Whitley?

I heard Williamsburg just had the first of three max tests (each about a month apart I think) and had 2 kids in the 900 lb. club (combination of 3 lifts, bench, squats and power cleans) and several in the 800 lb. club. I believe it was Thomas Frazier (QB), and Aaron Root (FB\LB) in the 900 lb. club, and Jusino was almost there. Also heard of several kids really improving, especially in squats. Seems Coach Black and his staff are working these young men pretty hard and getting them ready to get back in the thick of the district race this fall.

Not ready to make predictions but Williamsburg should be greatly improved this fall. Good group of seniors led by Aaron Root ( LB), Thomas Frazier (QB), Chase Hamlin (WR), and AJ Jusino (OL\DL).

I wouldn't necessarily call this kid a surprise player, but if you are ever in southeast Ky. on a Friday night and want to see a playmaker on defense, go by Williamsburg and watch Aaron Root play linebacker. This past season he was in on over 160 tackles. Very instintive and plays, forgive the expression, "balls to the wall", like every play could be his last.

What a pick up for Williamsburg if Al Ysidro were to come...really don't see it happening but would be nice!

Wow...thats unusual...were the majority of these kids juniors or a mix of underclassmen? How did they do this past season?

Not sure I would say a long time...2 years is my guess...I would look for Whitley to consistently put up 6 to 8 wins a year within a couple of seasons.
