1st Annual Pioneer Bowl At Lynn Camp

Featured Replies

To be played on a yearly rotating basis at Lynn Camp and Knox Central. This year's matchups will be this Friday:

Knox Central vs. Williamsburg @ 6:00

Lynn Camp vs. Leslie County

KC will be replacing ten graduated starters including the entire offensive backfield. Williamsburg has a new coach. Lynn Camp returns Roscoff but loses Chaffin. Leslie is coming of a very good season. Should be interesting.

Is Greg Woods eligible to play for Williamsburg yet?

He played in the grid. Corbin won't hold you up if you go play elsewhere they believe if you don't want to be ther be gone.

who is Greg WOods and what positition(s) does he play?

and BTW, schools dont' have anything to do with transfer eligbility now, the KHSAA either certifes them eligible or not.

The school that one transfers from does play a role in the process. Now whether it is supposed to work that way by the letter of the law or not I'm not certain of, but don't kid yourself, it is a factor.

Woods transferred to Williamsburg from Corbin a few weeks ago. He was a DE and in the running to be the kicker for the Hounds. He should be able to help Williamsburg this year on defense and also possibly as a TE.

He is a junior.

Kc 24 Wburg 20

Leslie Co 40 Lynn Camp 20

He may play a little but will not start or kick. The factor is only the school transfered from has 15 days to return transfer form. Some schools will take 15 days other will fax back the same day.

I dont think it was a matter of he didnt want to play in Corbin just his mother took a job in Williamsburg and they moved here. I saw him talking to several Corbin players and coaches in Middlesboro Friday night so I dont think he left on bad terms. Coach Farris even spoke well of him.

The Knox Central \ Williamsburg game should be close. I think it's a tossup at this point. Williamsburg will be without a starter or two from what I've heard. I think Lynn Camp gives Leslie all they want and wins, again in a closer than projected game.

Both of these games would be a lot easier to predict after we've seen the teams once. Leslie County's switching of Howard to QB is an interesting footnote. Both games will feature the run (KC and Lynn Camp) vs. the pass (W'burg and Leslie). I'm going to lean towards KC and Lynn Camp. Better defenses, ball control offenses.

Ill go with wburg over KC 36-22 and Lynn Camp over Lesile Co. 38-28

Not in all cases.

In the first game, I think if it turns into a shootout I like KC close. If KC slows down Williamsburg passing game, I like KC by 3 tds. Lynn Camp will have to control Howard to win the game, if he has big running and throwing the ball look for it to be a shootout. Lynn Camp will need to contol the line of scrimmage and the clock to win the game.

I've been listening to some of the area sports shows. The majority of our local "experts" are picking Williamsburg. I don't see it. If Central's young kids had a game or two behind them, I would be picking them by three tds. In fact, I think I will anyway.

Knox Central 35

Williamsburg 14

Everything I've seen or heard has Knox picked by anywhere from 2 points to 2 tds...not sure what experts you have heard.

Harlan 105.1, both commentators picked W'burg in a close game.

W'burg 104.7, same as above.

B'ville 96.1, two of four.

Total--Williamsburg 6, KC 2
