Personally I'm not sure for what he gets paid, and from the lack of support financially from the school and administration, I would do the job that Stricklin has done. Sure I don't always agree with what he does on the field, but heck when I coached I had second guessers as well. Instaed of constantly beating up the coach, Williamsburg should be thankful for a pretty decent year. As far as players who are better sitting on the bench...thats a subjective opinion. I thought going into the season they would be weak at 2nd, 3rd, and short...and guess what...they were. But unless someone took up some clay and breathed life into it, thats what they had to deal with. I'm sure there were parents who thought their kid would be better at positions than they actually were. So if they want to pack it up and go home and not come back...fine. I taught my kids that how one handles adversity is the measure of a man...so if you can't give your all, bide your time, and work towards your goals (and those goals should be both personal and team goals), then don't play. Gee whiz, you want to criticize a coach constantly for playing those he plays, well guess what, he sees these kids at every practice, he looks in their eyes and sees who's ready, not all us expert fans. I for one will stand up and commend coach Stricklin....he did a heck of a job with what he had, and as for any wins being sheer luck, well guess what, they count as W's, and you can't take that away. I consider it an insult to those kids who busted their butts to acheive what they have, and to attempt to cheapen it by vitrolic comments is a crying shame. Well enough from me, you all have my opinion, and once again to all the Jackets, I have enjoyed following you!

Congrats to South Laurel on a gutty win over Corbin 11 - 6. Hard fought game with the last three inning being a roller coaster as Corbin comes from 6-1 down to tie in the 7th. South bangs a few hits out in the 8th to take the win. Congratulations to Williamsburg's Aaron Root on making the All Tournament team. What a nice way for an outstanding player to end his career. Root you've been a ball to watch...best of luck in your future!

Have to admit if you had told me before the season, against a pretty tough schedule, the burg would win 19, and go back to Applebee's I'd have said I'll take it, lets pack the bags...lol. Hats off to Coach Stricklin on a pretty remarkable job.

Think Williamsburg ended up with 4 hits. Root was 1 for 1 with 2 walks, Ryan Moses was 1 for 3, Hurst and Ghantous both 1 for 3. I could be wrong but I think this is correct.

As a fan of Williamsburg, just wanted to say thank you to a fine group of seniors. Especially Root and Witt, its been fun watching you grow and develop and I wish you the best in your futures. Root's tenacity and heart in both baseball and football was always an inspiration and Witt's desire to excel was fun to see as well. Godspeed to this group of seniors, may you always strive for your hearts desire and never settle for less than that. Thanks for the memories.

The Dragons played well and Williamsburg committed at least 7 errors and didn't hit the ball well. Good job by the Harlan pitcher. Aaron Root did have another good night at the plate going 2 for 4. Ryan Moses also hit the ball for the jackets, but past these two not much offense. Not sure the kid's name for Harlan (#5), but was impressed with the way he swung the bat. I will say Harlan's team and coaching staff are a class act.

Heard he had quit as well.

Isn't it funny how pre-season no one mentioned lil ol Williamsburg. Yet they have 18 wins, won the all a sectional, went back to Applebee's, split with South and split with Whitley,defeated M'boro, and sent a 17 - 2 paintsville team packing. Every one seemed to think Comporoni (Whitley) would be the catcher in this area, but anyone who has seen games in this region would have to say Root is far and away the best defensive catcher, and probably offensive as well. The kid has torn the cover off the ball lately. Will Moses is hands down the best outfielder I've seen, with the kid from South (Bubba...sorry can't think of his last name) being an extremely close second. Ryan Moses has been superb as a utility guy and his hitting the ball well as a Freshman (this kid has an extremely bright future). Witt and Shelly have been tough on the mound, and Witt has come up with several key hits. I would agree, Don Stricklin has pulled rabbit after rabbit out of his hat this year for this team to be where it is now. The administration at Williamsburg should give him a big raise, and he surely deserves Coach of the Year.

Root is hitting really well right now, but don't forget Ryan Moses has been hot, and Will Moses seems to be getting it back together as he had a big triple today. But honestly to beat Corbin the Jackets will need more production from 5-9 in the order, and will have to get past looking at that big "C" on the hat.

Win # 18 for the Jackets was a come from behind victory as Williamsburg was down going into the bottom of the 7th. The Jackets started with 2 outs in the 7th.Ryan Moses starts the 2 out rally with a single to left. Root follows with a double off the fence in left center (on the day he was 3 for 4, 2 doubles, 4 RBI), scoring Moses. Will Moses followed with a triple to drive Root in. Witt gets the 2nd baseman to bobble the grounder and Moses scores the winner from 3rd. The Jackets weren't the sharpest today but came up big when it counted.

I would guess it would be Headrick. Recently in 2 games he struck out like 30.

Not sure but he does have a mess of doubles. The kid has good gap power and is hitting the ball on the nose right now.

Yes he did. I think he is going to be a fine pitcher as he gains experience. Pretty good kid from what I can tell.

Williamsburg picks up win number 17 tonight as Will Moses and Raymond Surber combine for the win. Will and Ryan Moses good nights at the plate, and Aaron Root cracks a 3 run Homer to break a tight game open. Can any from Bell tell me what happened to Tommy Greer tonight, he left the field during, I think, the third and never returned.

Jackets will be #4 seed.

Witt will throw one game and Shelly the other. Actually they are siamese twins joined at the hip....laughing, j/k. Any way thats the name of that tune...lol

Don't know about Roy Hobbs but if you ever see the kid play he gives everything he has.

Once again sloppy fielding (5 errors) and little hitting ( Shelly bunt single, Root a ringing double down the line that was a shot) does Williamsburg in. Witt and Shelly pitched well, but the errors killed the Jackets. Root leads off bottom of 7th with a huge double, but gets stranded as Witt flies out, Shelly k's, and i think a ground out by the final batter. One Bright defensive gem for the burg, Root runs through the wall to catch a foul pop for an amazing play.

Would agree, this looks like a winner to me....Anyone know anything about Campbellsville?
