Think Williamsburg has a bit too much for an improved Clinton County team, lets say 41 to 16 Williamsburg.

Williamsburg comes out with a nice win, Several Jackets really stepped up tonight. Jake Moses and Ed lawson really pounded the rock for the Jackets, Tyler Rollins was stellar as always, Garret Phillips was outstanding at linebacker, but Thomas Raines and Andrew Root were huge surprises. Root forced the Watts fumble that may have turned the tide. After that fumble it was all Williamsburg, I'll say this the Watts kid for McCreary is one of the finest atheletes I've ever seen in this area. #21 (sorry I don't know the kid's name) was also a load for McCreary. Congrats to the Jackets on a hard fought win!

I believe that Williamsburg is the second smallest enrollment playing football in the state (unless that has changed and Pineville's enrollment hasn't shot up). That being said I heard there were 31 or 32 out for football this season.

I heard Corbin won game 1. Does anyone know the results of the second game?

Yes people see what they want. I am a die hard fan of the Jackets but I don't look at the world trough Orange colored shades. Sorry but when I see the same breakdowns, lack of team play, same mistakes, same people making the same turnovers, then I am hard pressed to see overall improvement, I'll admit to not being as basketball savvy as you might be, and would love to see the program improve, but that is my opinion, this is america, and thank God for free speech...lol....seriously I guess we will just have to agree to disagree:laugh:

I hope I am wrong, but it could be a tough season for the Jackets. They lost alot of senior leadership, talent, and experience with the graduation of pitcher Jeff Witt, and outstanding catcher Aaron Root. They return JT Shelley on the mound and Ryan and Will Moses (both pretty good sticks). Picked up a transfer in Comparoni who will catch. He's a decent hitter but will he have Root's tenacity defensively? Williamsburg struggled all year defensively last year. Will the glove work improve enough for the young pitching staff to be competetive? Will there be enough sticks in the lineup to go with the Moses tandem? This will be a very young team this year, Shelley should be an All Star on the mound if the Jackets can come up with defense and more than 3 consistent bats in the line up.

The Raiders over the Jackets by at least 25. Hate to say it but the Jackets have not improved and even, in my opinion, have regressed. It's been a looooooong year, can't wait for spring football!...lol

We are big fans of Coach Black, but honestly I don't think he will be able to run the same offense at Whitley that he did at Williamsburg for a while yet. You have to remember the talent he had at QB while there. Any Andy Greer's or Thomas Fraziers coming up through the middle school program? Also Williamsburg reps the passing game to death at practice, and the entire coaching staff is involved. It takes awhile for all the coaches to understand the concepts. I don't think the Franklin stuff he tried will work well at Whitley, but I do think eventually, a QB that can throw consistently can and will be developed. I think the Whitley faithful need to be patient and let Him grow the system. We hear all the rumours about putting the veer in, and run and shoot, and all else, but lets face it the key will be having a QB that can read in any of these. Heck Wing T and Pro I with the power game are about the only offenses left that don't require a QB reading the D. I guess all I am really saying is I hope everyone will give Jim the opportunity to get things going at the County.

Alos let me add this, Williamsburg - Campbellsville is looking to become a nice rivalry, not quite like the Campers and the Jackets (these two seem to really despise each other), but a very nice rivaly. I really enjoyed the class both teams showed in the district finals last year.

Williamsburg will be fine at FB, they have some very talented young men vying for that position. Depth will, as always be the concern. The Burg's starters can line up with alot of class a teams, but youth will need to mature quickly in the back ups. D line and LB's will be stronger this year, but needed is someone to step up as a cover corner, and a free safety that can be a run stopper as well as play center field. Overall I think this team has the potential to play for a region title.

Having coached in NC, SC, Tn., and Ky at both the HS and College level I would agree. You can say what you want about Independence and Byrnes, but overall speed is greater in NC and SC than what I have seen in Ky. And yes Tn. (even though KY has won a couple of all star games recently) is better, deeper, and faster on an overall basis.

I'll be the first to admit when I am wrong. Was truly surprised at Williamsburg and hope this is the trend for the remainder of the season. Williamsburg finally played unselfish team basketball, with not nearly the finger pointing that has been seen on other nights. Pettit is going to be a hoss cat. I thought Aaron Brock came off the bench and gave a nice spark. Actually saw some nice screens to free up shots tonight. That being said, Whitley played everyone except the water girl. Nice depth. I hope going into the Bowman tournament the Jackets will continue to improve and get a couple of W's under their belts.

I've said it before and firmly believe that the previous regieme set Williamsburg back several years. Coach Robinson has his hands full. He needs someone desperately to step up and be a leader, and I'm just not sure that he has anyone who can or will.

I hate to say this but Whitley wins by 30 or more. Say what you want about emotion and cross town rivalries, but this Williamsburg team is just not very good. They seem to struggle with floor chemistry, other than the kids who play football, they are physically weak, they cannot create their own shots and there is little if any offensive scheme that is used to create shots. It seems offensively they stand around in spots and hope to get an open look. Defensively, Jellico constantly beat them down the floor and had at least 15 back door openings. I haven't seen Whitley play, but from what I have heard they are playing well right now. I know you can't compare scores but if Whitley's game against Jellico is any indication, I'm afarid my Jackets are in big trouble. It won't help that this game is at Whitley either.

Hammontree played at Carson - Newman, and coached at Maryville H.S. for several years before going to Georgia. BTW Maryville won its 4th straight state title Saturday and is 60-0 over the past 4 years.

As many on here know i bleed orange, wear orange tinted glasses, and drink orange kool aid...lol. That is to say I am Williamsburg all the way. I hate to say this, but after watching 4 games, I can't buy into this is an improved team. I think Coach Robinson is a fine man, but I think the previous regime set this program back 5 to 10 years. These kids do not have great ball skills, are getting for the most part physically dominated, and offensively I can't understand the concept. Offensively we stand around too much waiting on something to happen. We do nothing to set a play, and have no one that can create their own shot. Watching the Jellico game last night we were continually beaten down the floor, on the boards, and to back door cuts. Jellico may not be very good, but they sure ran a nice offense last night. I did think Thomas Rains, Aaron Brock, and Daniel Pettit (befoe the T's) played hard and gave good effort.
