Just got in from the LC/Williamsburg game.

How long has Williamsburg been wearing Orange and Black and not their Orange and Blue? :confused: Someone at work told me they were contemplating this color scheme change.

Is this a change at the school for every sport?

I thought that LC was sitting on the visitor's chairs when I first got there.

It was strange, to say the least, to see the Jackets in the Wildcat's colors!!!

(And, before it starts, IF it was blue, it was the darkest blue I've ever seen!!!)

I always had heard that Williamsburg's colors are orange and black (their lettermen jackets have always been that color). The story I was told that some time ago, the band had ordered uniforms and they got orange and blue sent to them instead so they eventually just kinda adapted to that. Any Williamsburg fans that may know could give the definite reason but this is what I have heard.

Blue was a color change for the Jackets., in the sixties and 70's Williamsburg donned the Orange, Black and white. With the arrival of Bob Rose, it went to straight orange and White. For some strange reason, Williamsburg added blue to the mix in the late 80's early 90's. So when you get right down to it, it is old school for the Jackets to wear orange and black and white.

 

 

Most alumni really did not care for the blue with the orange, and are glad to see the change, or at least the removal of the blue and going back to the roots of Williamsburg.

Lynn Camp, at one time, very early, wore blue and gold. They had hand- me- down uniforms from the University of Kentucky (which then had a maize colored gold with white and royal blue) that they wore. I think that's where the Wildcats name came from. I don't look for them (LC or UK) to change to the old colors anytime soon.

 

(So, just out of curriosity, who decided just to keep the band uniforms and change the sports teams colors? What if they had shown up, say, pink and orange, or some other awful color scheme? Why did they not just send them back and say fix this?)

Corbin's colors used to be burgandy or cardinal red a long time ago.

The true story of Williamsburg and Blue started in the early 70's with the majorite uniform was outlined in a blue. Bill Allison did it, as an outline with the orange. In the early 90's the band uniforms started to have blue in them more present, then the other sports followed suit, but for the record, the school charter says Orange and White.

Football has went to black as an outline color. I don't know about the rest of the sports programs at Williamsburg.
