Corbin's colors used to be burgandy or cardinal red a long time ago.

 

My mother-in-law, who graduated in 1937 and is still alive and well, told me that the only colors that Corbin had the entire time (12 years) she was in school at Corbin were maroon and white. In fact, I have seen two of her Corbin High School year books and written on the front is the maroon and white. She told me that she wasn't sure when the colors were changed to red and white but if she had to put a date on it she would say during world war two.

The W'burg uniforms are nice.

Any idea where the Redhound name came from? It is unique. I don't know if anyone else nation wide uses Redhounds. Also, were they the "Railroaders" at one time? What was the teams name in the yearbook?

Too many people dabble too much with school colors, imo.

Our school colors at Owsley County have always been maroon and white to my knowledge. But this year the travel suits are black and grey, with nary-a-drop of maroon anywhere. Our team looks like June Buchanan walking in the gym. I may be old school, but at Owsley...maroon has to be in there somewhere!

The Corbin 1936 yearbook was called the Maroon and White and it gave the Corbin basketball and football teams as the Redhounds.

I thought they did have blue on their football uniforms, but after Noble's post I started rethinking that.

I remember when Corbin wore their retro maroon uniforms against Lynn Camp in 98 in the Cumberland Falls Pigskin Classic.

Here's another interesting tidbit.

The year before Laurel County split to North/South .... they had a vote for the soon to be North students to pick the school colors.

The winner was the Charlotte Hornet colors, but with the demand and cost for the colors at an extreme at the time, they decided to go with Bush Blue and Hazel Green Green.

Should have held out for the Chalotte colors....

The KHSAA website has Williambsburg's official colors listed as Orange, White, and Blue

I remember the Corbin throwbacks quite well and they were really sharp. Coach Whitaker brought them out in 1998 for the 75th anniversary season. They were Maroon with white numbers with the red shadow background to the numbers. They had the triple stripe shoulders with two white stripes and the middle stripe was red and the 75th anniversary patch on the chest. They also had the traditional REDHOUNDS across the back in white font.

 

The current Corbin uniforms are Red, White and Maroon. The Home jerseys are red, with white numerals and a maroon shadow back to the font. The aways are white with red numerals and the maroon font background. They wear the silver pants both home and away with the silver helmet. From the last part of 2002, they brought the red pants back from the Coach whitaker era to wear with the away shirts. Last season against Russell in the playoffs they went back to the silver pants and wore them all of this past season.
