  1. Is this tourney anywhere online? radio or video?
  2. That's great, lets just tell those 12 schools they have to wait another week on their basketball kids who play football
  3. If you are about facts maybe you should recalculate. Clay didn't beat wburg by 40 last year. That is all I will post because obviously your love for your team has messed up your math skills.
  4. If you are gonna whine about the road in the region. Look at how much harder Williamsburg had it in the district. The same arguments you just made about Corbin and all that. Williamsburg beat 2nd or 3rd best team in the region first round of the district. Then Corbin in the finals. What was clays district like? At some point you have to just say the scoreboard did the talking. You can twist and turn things however you want. This is what happened.
  5. I had a front row seat tonight, and to say that would be an understatement. Clay county's players and coaches showed Williamsburg more class than any team all year. Clay county fans should be proud of their team not only for the hard play but how they handled the whole tournament. Williamsburg played well tonight we hope we can make the 13th region proud at Rupp. Awesome tournament.
  6. I copuld be wrong but I think if you check the rule book for high school basketball that call is only for the official who gives the ball to the inbounder. The college and pro game may be different
  7. So we've now got into the business of posting for Coaching positions that are not even open. That's an embarassment to a lot of genuine discussion that goes on. Anonymous disgruntled Dad take this up with your Coach, AD, Principal or Supt. face to face
  8. Methusela uh, hey that's pretty good I like that! but we from Methusela's time didnt understand the little emoticon
  9. Well "Dude" I'm fairly certain at my age we old guys dont guess when it comes to taking up for a friend and colleague. We "relax" knowing we've got each others back because Lord knows no one else does.
  10. That is the most asinine statement Ive seen on here in a while. Ashland basketball couldnt have been in better hands than for those years that Mike Flynn was the Coach. One of the most well versed coaches who who played and won by playing the style that fit his talent at Warren Central, Holmes and Ashland.
  11. Well said babyjack1 it couldnt have been stated any better better "never has so little been known about so much"
  12. Hickory you speak as if you personally know this Supt. or are your opinions just more "Guestulation"[/b] on your part? You said earlier that no head coach was interviewed for the position and that is not correct.
  13. All of the Guessing and Speculation about this situation adds up to "GUESSTULATION" and that's at the top of the list for those who are misinformed
  14. With everything I've read on here about the this position it sounds like you all are saying that this will be strictly a Northern KY hire only or someone who has strong ties to Northern KY?
  15. I just think it is still hard to pick and choose which sports to classify. I know our state doesn't have as many teams as some other states so breaking into six classes is to much but classifying certain sports and not others is just strange to me. Especially sports that have a similar number of schools competing state wide.
  16. KY has a lot of good traditions in Basketball. I think a lot of it comes from UK's success over the years and it is good for our state to feed off that energy. Where does everyone think our state stacks up as far as talent and level of play compared to other states? I would say at best middle of the pack.
  17. There is a reason that every other state classifies basketball. I guess KY is just that special and smart to be unlike every other state. I think it would be different and it would take a while for people to adjust but it would work. The All A is a good tournament but it really isn't small schools. There is this notion that because basketball doesn't require as many people that a very small school can compete with big schools. 99 Percent of the time this just doesn't happen. Even 300 kids difference in enrollment is huge in every sport. The All A making some adjustments would be a great resolution to this problem and then there would be way less people seeing the need for classification. The KHSAA needs to step in and take control of this tourney. It could be a very good thing if altered some. There are districts in this state that have the following enrollments. District XY School 1 - 1300 School 2 - 1250 School 3 - 900 School 4 - 215 Does that look fair to you?
  18. Better check your math. The current system is not right IMO. We disagree. No big deal. Not gonna change so it doesnt matter.
  19. I do agree that the regional Championship is its own deal and that I guess for most schools the state tourney is Icing on the cake. Good point.
  20. You haven't heard any kids complaining? Many reasons for that I guess. Spend a couple seasons in areas where the hope of ever getting to play in a state tourney is very slim. Not because the kids aren't talented and dont work hard but because the level of talent and the playing field is not even. Really suprises me that people could be proud of a State Champion who's team comes from private schools where we all know things are different. I think there are some really good teams private, public but I think they should be competiting against similar schools. Schools that can attract players should compete against other schools that can attract players. Schools that have 2,200 students should compete against schools similar in size. Lots of good teams and players that dont have the same opportunity as their fellow classmates that play football, etc.
  21. Here is my opinion on all this. The one thing nobody ever seems to sit back and look at is what is best for the High School Kids and coaches. Nobody. Fans only care about what they want. Guess what, High School Athletics is about the kids. What is best for them? I think it is giving the kids in basketball the same oppurtunities that the same kids in these schools have in football and other classified systems. Would it be fair to have all colleges to play in one tournament just becasue it is the Best Show on Earth. No it wouldn't. Same difference. In kentucky high school basketball there are such gaps in talent level. Do you think it would be right for Division 2 college teams, NAIA teams to be in the same tournament as UK. No. Makes no sense.
