WKU (and its stadium) and the C-USA championship game - Plan Revealed

Featured Replies

I could be wrong about this, but there is a strong possibility that WKU will host the Conference USA championship game which is scheduled for December 5. This is also the Saturday of the Kentucky High school state championship games. Will the high school games be moved to a later date? Or moved to another location? This is a Hilltopper fan hoping that they get to host the conference championship.

Right you are, and it looks like that's how things are going to be played out. My guess is they will go Friday/Sunday and the Conference USA Championship on Saturday.

It's likely this won't be known until Thanksgiving Weekend, when WKU/Marshall play. Both are undefeated in conference play and both in the East of C-USA.

Good call.

Wonder if any High Schools that might be in state finals have the no activities on Sunday policy?

OK then, go Marshall!!!!!!

Don't want state games messing up my NFL Sunday

That's a real policy for some schools? Where at? Boone County?

To answer your question.....they'd waive the no activites on Sunday policy.

Boy I hope it happens! What classes play Saturday this year?

Isn't usually no activities without "special permission" from the schoolboard?? I can't imagine a school board saying no to a team playing football in the state championship.

Don't they now play the basketball finals on Sunday??

Yes... yes...

Bring the finals back to Louisville. The Hilltoppers have betrayed us...

Don't they now play the basketball finals on Sunday??

Yep.

GreyFox, never say that again! Go Tops!

If it has already been discussed here, I apologize. Delete it, lock it, whatever.

That being said:

Conference USA Announces 2015 Football Schedule - Conference USA Official Athletic Site

"The league's 11th annual Championship Game, pitting the champions of the East and West Divisions, is scheduled for Saturday, December 5 and will be televised by ESPN or ESPN 2."

The C-USA title game is NOT played at a neutral site. If WKU continues to hold serve, it will be in line to HOST the game.

Obviously, the KHSAA football finals are scheduled for the same date and same place.

My first thought is the C-USA final would be moved to a Tuesday or Thursday night, but I'm not sure WKU's fans are too keen on that (as opposed to a Saturday afternoon).

Anyone heard of a backup plan?

There is another thread on this and the thought there was that the Saturday high school games would be moved to Sunday.
