This would be pretty cool for WKU if they get the opportunity. I could see the 1st day of the finals on Thursday and Friday be the 2nd night so they could clear out by Saturday for CUSA. I could also see the games split Friday and Sunday.

 

WKU has played UK in Nashville a couple times. I hope they would keep it on campus, but I could see the CUSA title game moving to Nashville

One reality that will not change.

 

If WKU is in the C-USA Championship game it will be played in L.T. Smith Stadium on the scheduled date.

 

If for no other reason than ESPN saying "This is where the game will be and this is when the game will be."

I love it that part of the conversation is turning into a WKU vs Marshall battle. Pretty awesome that we have 2 teams in and next door to the state playing at such a high level. Not to mention the kids from our state going to play for both schools. Turning into a Hatfield - McCoy rivalry. You have to love it!!

 

Hope for many years of success for both schools. Would love to see one or the other own CUSA every single year.

CUSA likely has a policy for the visiting team to have "practice rights" the day before the game. That would influence the number of games that could be played on Friday.

 

Most of you may not have noticed, but WKU is really good and very entertaining to watch. They lost their star RB in week 3 and have survived very well. If they do win the rights to host, it would be worth your effort to add that game (likely against La. Tech) to your KHSAA weekend schedule.

The KHSAA did move the wrestling state championships to a later date due to the massive amounts of snow we had, so there is some experience with the finals being moved to a later date.

I think this whole deal is hilarious. U of L could no longer guarantee the first weekend in December. The KHSAA said this was a huge problem. This led to U of L not pursuing the finals any longer.We all heard how Papa John's Cardinal Stadium is too big! It would not be missed. Well, now Commonwealth Stadium is a better fit? Go back to the days when the finals were scattered across the state.

 

There is NO WAY the football finals get pushed back a week and take away from BASKETBALL. I could see the KHSAA opting for playing three on Sunday with one game per weeknight Monday-Tues-Wednesday......once again 6 classes adds to the woes! :dancingpa

Pushing it back one week only impacts 12 teams...and I'd be willing to bet none of them will complain about rescheduling due to BASKETBALL, if that were to come to pass.

Weren't there several games switched to Sunday several years ago when there was bad weather on finals weekend? IIRC, there was a lot of ice. Probably wrong though.

Yes. There was a lot of schedule jostling a couple years ago because of the ice.

I'm sure Murray State would be willing to do their part and allow the KHSAA to play the 2A title game in Murray
