I found it LongTimeReader. Good stuff and you are correct. X is tighter with Male during the Wolford era. X is 0-4 with an average score of 25 points against Male 31 (6 points) During the same Wolford era, Trinity is 1-5 with an avg score of 21 points against Male 31 (10 points) Going back to the pre-Wolford era - we can find some pretty alarming statistics. In the years before Wolford arrived, Coach Glaser and X beat Male 41-0 / 55-14 / 57-7 / 56-10 (all teams coached by Wolfe). During the same time, Trinity beat Male 38-7 and 44-0 (also teams coached by Wolfe). The more I look at this stuff, I start to think it doesn't have very much to do with Glaser, Wolford, Beatty or even Wolfe (almost great coaches)...and a lot more to do with the KIDS at Male the past 4 seasons. How in the world did the talent shift like that? We're talking night and day results...almost an overnight flip of the script when the 2016 class arrived on the Male campus!!!

How many wins for X over Male in the Wolford era? Just wondering.

Don't sleep on Carmony and Bocko. Guys have been doing more with less in Louisville for a long time. Manual could be a sleeping giant. Just maintaining the success Coach Lucas had wouldn't be a bad thing. Good school, quality football and kids go to solid colleges. Got to appreciate the track record of success. Not to mention they have regularly gone into the post season and beat another district #1 or #2 seed.

What is the % of Catholics on the Villanova National Championship team???? Who really cares? Get tired of reading this garbage. So many wonderful men and women of faith running both schools.

Bocko doing 'Steve Bocko things' with that defense!! One of the top coaches in Louisville the past 30 years not named Lamphley, Beatty, Glaser or Redman. Just my opinion. Nice to see him working with the kids even during him retirement years. Carmony not too shabby either...good work men!!

I enjoyed the Jason Frakes article on Waggener. Agree with everything you guys are saying and I don't understand taking a knee during the Anthem. But, the kids at Waggener have my attention. I like to see the kids at least turn the situation into something positive. Lot of positive groups getting established at Waggener and it sounds like Police officers are getting engaged to collaborate with the kids. Again, taking a knee during the anthem is something I'll never get behind - but I respect the kids at Waggener for turning it into positive results and following up with actions!! The kids got my attention and thanks to Jason Frakes for the article to help the kids get the message out in the open. Now...stand up and respect the flag and all the people (regardless of skin color, religion or sexual orientation) that sacrificed or continue to sacrifice for all of us.

Same...I'm hearing the same stuff but won't believe anything until I see it. Nothing but good things going around the community regarding Young Scroggins and his athletic ability. Are my sources correct when saying Young Scroggins is the best player in CSAA football? Is he going the Catholic route in high school? Wouldn't be a bad idea to distance yourself for the old man...don't want to ride coattails at Central if his old man is the coach. Or maybe Coach will get on at X/T - heck, he could be the next man up at X if things don't change. Bring his son with him. That would shock the world!

It looks like Tilghman is the winner! Where did they finish in the district race that year? Just wondering about the 2014 Trinity team finishing in 3rd place behind Male & X - coming out as a 3rd place team and going on to win state. Anyone have another 3rd place team to do that? In the old days, Trinity wouldn't have made the playoffs.

Right - 2014 State Champ Trinity Shamrocks were 5-5. Win - Imhotep Charter (PA), Colerain (OH), Cocoa (FL), Cathedral (IN), Manual Loss - Ensworth (TN), Carmel (IN), Louisville X, Male, Moeller (OH) That was a fun schedule before Trinity was moved out of the Super District. #3 in the district going through 5 road games to win the championship. Do we have another 3rd place district finish to ever win State???

Fact - Male was gassed, very big boys not in the most tip-top shape - Trinity was better conditioned. If anyone was watching the game live, you could clearly see it. Interesting comments about the Male QB and his hand. I personally feel like Male/Wolfe let off the gas pedal. If he wanted, he could have thrown the ball deep all night and put Trinity in the body bag (and that is coming from a Trinity fan). Something changed in that game and my personal opinion was it didn't have anything to do with Trinity making subs or coaching guys up in the secondary - either the QB couldn't get the ball deep down field or Wolfe chose not to throw it deep anymore. After doing it 3 - 4 times, kind of like Male packed in the deep ball and said "OK, we can destroy them AGAIN in the air - don't show them anymore". This part of the game has been an issue for T the past 5 years - and it isn't getting any better. Too many athletes on the team to be that bad in the secondary year after year. What gives???

Thank you, All Tell. Nothing but truth in your post. Only 1 state championship with all that talent the past 4 years. Most of the guys that graduated from T last year also got a ring Freshman year and played in majority of the playoff games including the state championship (limited reps during blow out wins with the exception of Scott Co win). So...I like to say the 2016 graduates received 2 rings - also a true statement. We're back to 'right now' and I really enjoy this version of the Shamrocks. Can't wait to watch this game tonight. I hope Coach Wolfe is holding back his herbs and spices. I'm willing to bet Coach Beatty isn't holding back anything. Or, I certainly hope he isn't holding back!! I have to get this missed extra point taste out of my mouth from last year...still makes me sick.

Thanks Biotech. Well said. You obviously get it and speak from experience. Guys like you are the reason Trinity has 23 State Championships and ranked as one of the top teams in the state or even nationally. If rdr1984 is going to reference Brentwood fans, I guess he/she should have sat a little closer to the Highlands fans. It sounds like the Highlands folks saw the same thing I witnessed - QB2 was just as effective if not more effective than QB1 at Ft Thomas on that Saturday. I'm sorry guys. Just not a fan of throwing around words like Nepotism when history is totally against it - especially when you talk about a man that adds so much value to the program. Both QBs should get reps and as the season progresses, maybe one will get more reps than the other. QB1 is talented for sure - QB2 may be a little bit more of a project but he is worthy of reps - and the baby Rocks are still undefeated. I like what our staff is doing and I'm sure they are over qualified to handle the situation. This is nothing but 'noise' that won't impact the staff or this team!

Hey folks - this is coming from a Trinity fan/parent with a son that already graduated. I don't have a dog in the fight anymore except the fact I'm a Trinity fan and want the best for the program and all the kids. I'm a fan of both QBs. I know people that coached them growing up and I keep pretty active in the local youth football scene. I'm a huge fan of each and every coach on that staff from the freshman level all the way up through varsity. Your comments on BGPs are not appreciated and the young men on that freshman team are very fortunate to have the coach you are speaking about. My boy didn't have the same coach running the offense when he played freshman and we were certainly missing something that year (still finished 6-3 with losses @Male, @moeller, @Cathedral). Coach had to step away and run his business. Wish we had him that season as he was very instrumental in grooming a long list of exceptional talent with an amazing resume. Stop talking about coaches that way especially when they have a resume most of us could only dream about. No place for it at Trinity. I've seen the QB job delivered to a kid on a silver platter in recent memory and he is no longer with the school. Trinity will not make the same mistake twice. Does Ryan Young and Jake Woosley names ring a bell? Neither one of them were groomed to be the next big thing at Trinity but look at the stats - Ryan Young's state championship will be one the true Trinity fans will remember forever. Grooming 2 guys is a GREAT thing especially on the Freshman level - and we're getting W's at the same time. I can't believe we're having this discussion on a public forum like this. I was at the Highlands game and the #2 QB had just as good of a day as the #1. Now we're going to bash kids after a win over Brentwood and one of the best freshman coaches in the city. Not good!!

Deflating stats is a common thing for all the Daddy Ball guys sitting in the press box - most of them have a man crush on one player or another from year to year. Deflate the stats, get little Johnny noticed by the local papers, maybe it will turn into a scholorship to Notre Dame. I sit back and watch it year after year and find it to be hilarious. Even worse - the media guys voting all state teams based off of the deflated stats. Best post I've seen on here in a while. Sorry if I offended anyone but you guys know I speak the truth.

Need someone to tell us more about Notre Dame. That group of girls didn't back down tonight and they look to have plenty of talent on that roster. You guys 'sand bagging' in Northern KY???? Pandas look to be young. Yes or no? Amazing game to watch and a great crowd. Freshman Pandas won in 2 and Sacred Heart JV won in 3. Worth every bit of the $5.00 admission. Thank you ladies.

Freshman 5:30 JV 6:30 Varsity 7:30 How are the three Notre Dame teams doing so far this year? Sacred Heart is 0-1 on the Freshman level after an outstanding 3 game match with Mercy last Sunday. The JV and Varsity Valkyries are both 2-0. What should we expect?

I think Eastern may have just enough seasoned athletes to make this interesting. Burger is a solid QB and the Wyche (spelling) kid is pretty special. Lot of blue collar kids trying to change the culture at Eastern. Few solid additions to the coaching staff as well. We all know CAL is much better than the scoreboard indicated last week. I expect them to rebound - just not convinced it will be by a big margin. Might be a good one.

Thanks Bert! I went right past Waggener and missed it myself. Love seeing some of the recent non-traditional powers making a jump. Waggener was a powerhouse back in the Bob Redman days and Coach Wolfe did a solid job when he was the coach. Kids, Administrators, parents, teachers have to be excited with so much talk around town. I hope to catch the Central v Waggener game myself. Great job with the list!!
