Eighth grader Jared Barton turned in a good performance on the mound for the Jackets. Mark Comparoni's bat was hot with several solid hits and one out of the park homerun. Williamsburg played good defense and hit the ball well. A few bad throws showed up here and there but these should go away as early season jitters settle down. So far, the Jackets are looking good. The infield works well together and communicates with each other.

Not surprising. Before Comparoni moved to Williamsburg he hit around .500 for Middlesboro and was the glue that held together a bunch of "super egos." After he left Middlesboro, the team never made it out of the regional tournament. Williamsburg has a proud tradition and Comparoni, with his love for the game, will fit in well there. WOW! I suppose he was the "glue" that held together Whitley Co too?

The Comperoni kid is a nice catcher who works hard, to be the best player he can be, but is also has a pretty impressive ego. If rumors are true he quit on his teammates just before a game after taking infield, simply because he was moved down in the batting order. If that is true then you have to wonder if he is the type of "glue" that Williamsburg needs.

 

I am sure that Coach Stricklin will do a fine job with him and the Jackets.

They do seem to be having trouble scoring runs. Sounds like a little bit of petty jealousy to me. We'll take him back at Middlesboro any day.

Every year someone gets ousted in the District. That doesn't mean that Williamsburg never achieves anything. They have gone to Applebee's Park 2 years in a row in the All A. That means that for 2 years in a row they have been in the top 8 in the state in All A play.
