  1. The reason Comparoni left Middlesboro was because his father remarried and his family moved to Wlliamsburg. I don't know what happened at Whitley but I do know the Comparoni family. They are class people and if Mark felt he needed to transfer from there I can assure you he had good reason. I can also tell you that Coach John Smith, coach at Whitley County, applied for the Middlesboro coaching job 2 years ago as well as the Bell County job last year and was turned down by both, even though he was born and raised in Middlesboro. May be a coincidence and maybe not. By the way, it's actually spelled hop and not hope.
  2. Didn't J.T. Shelley and Mark Comparoni each have three hits for Williamsburg against Harlan? I thought there was only one Moses in the lineup when they played us.
  3. Coach Sowders lost almost everyone from last years team. But along with that he lost all of the attitudes. Pittman and Pratt should be able to handle most of the pitching and Jake Partin is as good a leadoff hitter as anyone in the region. Don't count the Jackets out when it comes to regional contention.
  4. They do seem to be having trouble scoring runs. Sounds like a little bit of petty jealousy to me. We'll take him back at Middlesboro any day.
  5. Not surprising. Before Comparoni moved to Williamsburg he hit around .500 for Middlesboro and was the glue that held together a bunch of "super egos." After he left Middlesboro, the team never made it out of the regional tournament. Williamsburg has a proud tradition and Comparoni, with his love for the game, will fit in well there. We wish you well Mark.
  6. Barely a good senior league team
