After having the weekend to lick my wounds, I reflected on what a suprising season this has been for the Jackets. If anyone had told me that they would win 7 games, beat Lynn Camp, and make it to the district finals, I would never have believed. However, Coach Herron's "We Believe" campaign with this young team proved to be prophetic. I was continually amazed this year at how this team overcame injury and adversity. I was also pleased and amazed at the job this coaching staff did. I've said it before, Williamsburg will rarely if ever out talent their opponents. The gameplans these coaches have come up with all season has been top flight in my humble opinion. Will Williamsburg ever have a dominating defense?...probably not, but if they get a few stops each game, that offense is hard to handle. Will Moses and Elias Abner will be missed, but with the way the Burg played young people this year, the experience gained should off set their loss. This district will be a dog fight again next year with Campbellsville, the Campers, and Williamsburg all being young, but after the job done by Herron and company, I think the Burg will be just fine. After losing Root, Frazier, and Hamlin. I for one thought a 4 win season was in the works...thanks for surprising me Jackets...and keep on Believing! As for Campbellsville, I thought you folks were a class act, hope you had good hospitality here, and best of luck next week against Hazard. Do our district proud y'all!

Having played collegiately, and having had a son play as well, its just not the same. The last time football is pure is in H.S. In college it became a job, and you really play for 2 different teams, offense vs. defense. Heck there were times I didn't even know starters on the other side of the ball. In HS you play for your buddy, your colors, your town.In the time I spent professionally it was more everybody for yourself, and what team play occurs is an extension of one's self. So enjoy HS while you have it, experience the richness of belonging to a team in the purest sense of the word, and hang on to the memories!

From what I've heard Will Moses is about a 4.5 40 guy...pretty decent speed.

My head says Hazard, but would love to see Cumberland pull the upset. I seem to pull for those "old" district 7 teams!

In a perfect world for me, football would be played 24/7, 365....ahhh that would be heaven...lol

I will be the first to say, in every game, with the exception of Clinton County, Williamsburg's opponents have had the edge in talent and speed. This makes the job Coach Herron and staff have done this year all the more impressive. Very astute observations. I agree with eagle nation this should be a war. I think Williamsburg has definitely improved since the first meeting. An earlier poster said it would be slobberknocking versus finesse. I would remind all that Williamsburg also rushed for well over 1400 yards this year as well, with Will Moses having over 1,000 yards, and Jake Moses having 3 games of over 100 yards rushing as Will's replacement. The key to this game is the d line of Williamsburg. If they can make a few stops it will be a good game. Ryan Moses seems to be back on his game and if the protection holds up the maturation of Pettit, Brock, and Dusty Brown as receivers should be evident. All in all, look for a close, high scoring game.

The Cumberland Inn has excellent dining facilities and wonderful food. It would be a 4 star resturaunt in most towns. Unfortunately I wish I could agree that the Eagles have no chance to win...lol. I do think it will be a dog fight this time, at least I hope so. Hope our fans and our town are hospitable to you all in your visit!

To be honest I think this will be a shootout, with the team having possesion last in position to win. Campbellsville has a strong running game and of course the Jackets like putting the ball in the air. Which defense bends but doesn't break? The Jackets young d has been playing better of late, not stifling by any stretch of the imagination, but better. If they can get 4 stops total in this game, I'll say the Jackets win, if not, then it could be a sad night for the Burg. Jackets 41-38 in this one.

I would love for Whitley to win, as I would love for all S\E Ky teams to win. Sorry though I don't see them traveling to Letcher and pulling this one off. Hope I'm wrong.

I don't think letting up is the term I would use. Letting up, in my mind would be tied into effort, and these kids play their rear ends off. I think it is more tied into maturity. Mature, experienced players maintain mental focus and learn to put people away. Williamsburg is struggling to gain that maturity level. I know so many in this area have talked about how young their teams are and I know this can sound like an excuse. Honestly with what Williamsburg lost to graduation, did anyone think they would have a winning season and the number 1 seed? As this team matures they will learn better how to put people away. I will say this, I sure have seen them get after people and be more physical the last 3 to 4 games, and say what you want, they were very physical against Lynn Camp, and I expect they will be so against Clinton. This has been a fun and frustrating team to watch, but I think everyone in the Burg should be proud of what has been accomplished thus far, and look for exciting things to happen now that playoffs are here!

I think Williamsburg will take care of business in this one, but I don't see the blow out seen in the first game. Williamsburg still has a couple of starters banged up and will see limited, if any, playing time from what I am hearing. I do think the Burg will win by 20 or so. The defense is playing a bit better at the d line and linebacker positions, but DB's are still a concern. As I remember, Clinton doesn't throw very well and that should play into the Jackets favor. However they can break long runs if the DB's don't get more physical and learn to tackle better. The running game should be ok as Jake Moses has shown to be an adequate replacement for Will Moses (Will being out really hurts the d more). This would be a good game for Ryan Moses to return to form (too many picks the last 3 games) and improve his reads. I'm not sure Clinton has an answer for Aaron Brock (leading receiver in Class A), who I look for to have a big night. All in all Williamsburg needs to take this home playoff game seriously and get a killer instinct going to put Clinton away. Good luck Jackets!

I'll add my agreement

Unlike many, I am fine with the current system. Let it all play out and you'll see the traditional powers standing at the end, and a bit of excitement for schools that are trying to build. The reason I'm for it is that in the long run, when you make the playoffs, it seems to generate a bit of enthusiasm at a school, and numbers for the next season tend to increase, making the opportunity for more to want to participate. I realize this doesn't happen in all cases, but it does happen.

Actually Williamsburg had the more mental mistakes.

Well it's a win. The Jackets were sloppy at times, and had a couple of starters out, but were able to hang on in this one. If anyone had told me this young team would secure the top seed in the district I would have said too good to be true. But Coach Herron and his staff have developed this group of young men and have them believing in what they can accomplish. It seems each week, the last 3 weeks, someone new has stepped up. Last night Jake Moses and Garret Phillips stepped up big, and Pettit may have played his best defensive game. My hats off to the Jackets, and keep believing!

I don't know if they are the best fans or not, but I have always been amazed at how well tiny Williamsburg travels. Recently at an away game at Campbellsville the visitor's side was fuller than the home. I have been to a number of away games and the Williamsburg side is always well represented.
