WKU for championships?

Featured Replies

What are everyone's thoughts if the games were to be moved to Bowling Green? Would it hurt overall attendance? Would all (or most) coaches still come? I personally like it, but I must admit my bias since I live here.

Major mistake! The girls bball tourney is already there and it is always a major complaint how far away it is to get there, obviously depending on where you live. I think attendance would go way down if moved to WKU.

I think you will see the football championships moved to UK w/in 2/3 yrs due to UK finally getting a turf surface.

I don't think that any coach would take a forfeit just so they would not have to come to Bowling Green.;) I would also like to see the games move here. I think attendance would not be hurt in the least. Look at all the people from the Bowling Green area that go to the championship games....it is no further for them to come here than it is for us to go there.:thumb:

I would really love to see the games moved to WKU!! We have had so many people that have said how much they loved coming to the Rafferty's Bowl games because WKU was a wonderful place to watch the games....that is another thing, the Rafferty's Bowl games never hurt in attendance, therefore, I really don't see the championship games hurting either.

I'm not positive.. But the finals will be in the Ville next year then move to WKU the year after.. Something to do with Big East scheduling.

To be 100% honest, they need to stay in Louisville because that's closer for me than Bowling Green. And quite frankly, I don't care how far anyone else has to travel...

Leave it in Louisville. Bowling Green is nowhere near as easy to get to from all parts of the state.

Moving to WKU would be alot more convinent for me... but I would like the Champioinships to remain at Papa Johns Cardinal Stadium. I dont mind the drive to Louisville from Glasgow, I kinda looked forward to it. A good get away.

Plus, if I remember correctly I believe the only seating at WKU are just plain regular bleachers... and for 3 games a day, I think that could get a bit uncomfortable. They could be changing that while they're in the process of renovating LT Smith Stadium... but I doubt it.

EKU is more suitable than WKU.

Because?

It would kill the attendance.

It would kill the attendance.

And moving the games to EKU would hurt them even more. Not to mention your only going to fit about 20,000 into Roy Kidd Stadium... if T/X play there on a nice night, chances are, your going to have a sold out crowd and there are going to be some pretty mad fans.

How many does WKU hold?

What is the playing surface?

Western has field turf ... Eastern still has a grass field, I believe, which would make it unsuitable for six games in two or three days.

Western will hold about 22,000 after renovations I believe.

I do not like it!! They should stay in the Ville. May hurt coaches attendance.
