Corbin vs. Bell County

Featured Replies

This game is Friday Night at Campbell Field in Corbin. Can the Hounds end the 2 game skid to the Bobcats or will it be another Bobcat whipping of the Hounds? Personally I think Corbin will be the big underdog but can make it a good game if they do the following.

1. Continue to be monsters on the Run D.

2. Give Cashen Time to throw the ball.

3. O Line open holes for the backs.

4. Wide Recievers catch the ball

5. Act like they have been there before. I didn't like seeing Corbin dump water after beating LCA. With all due respect to LCA, they beat a 1A team who lost a big portion of their team to graduation. Corbin should go into every game expecting to win the game and when they do, act as if they have been there.

Basically the 3 keys are Line play, recievers, and heart.

My prediction is subject to change and I hope I get reason to. Right now I'm going to go with the following.

Bell 41

Corbin 20

I agree with you on the water thing, hopefully that is not a telltale sign of anything.

There should be no celebrating for the Hounds until they win at the least a Regional Championship.

This should be a good game. Corbin played Rockcastle to 2-0 defensive struggle. Bell's defense should shut down Corbin offense. Cashen may complete passes, but Bell allowed Whitley to throw, but never for more than ten yards. If the game is close, the Bell kicking game should be an advantage. Bell's new diversified offense is getting better each week. Look for D-1, Auburn-bound, Brent Slusher to have a big game on offense, as well as defense. TR Christopher had hip injury last week against Letcher. Should be interesting with his "return" to Corbin.

Corbin with the UP-SET 21-17

They will find the heart that has been missing so far.

Bell 42

Corbin 0

How does Bell's passing game look? Corbin has to do a better job blocking if they want to beat Bell County.

Well Bell actually has a passing game, so it looks pretty good. Bell's offense is a little different, but they are still capable of going back to the wishbone and whatnot. Should be a fun game. These teams really always want to beat each other. I like the Bobcats in this one though.

Bobcats roll to a 3 TD win.

Hate to agree and would love to see Corbin win, but this is a good guess.

Bell Co. 28-7.

Is there any injuries currently for Corbin or Bell? I know Freeman has been lost with a knee for Corbin but was unaware if there is anyone in question for this weeks game. I heard T.R dinged his hip up but heard he will still play.

The water"thing" is simply a sign of just how far this once powerful football program has fallen. Celebrating a home win over a lowly opponent like LCA(2 TD's called back by penalty or Corbin might be 0-4) with a water bath is a testament to Corbin's status now as a third tier program. The present incarnation of the Hounds would do well to compete against Lynn Camp, Williamsburg, North/South L., Whitley, maybe even Knox C. Hopefully, Corbin can once regain some degree of its glory-filled past. I can remember when the Hounds could compete with and punish any team in the state, regardless of class. Today's Hounds resort to a silly celebration over a hapless 1A team at home. Very sad.

I like that pick. This year is similar to the 2004 year when we won up at Log Mountain with everyone picking Bell.

Personally I am having the heart/head dilema right now. My heart is tellin me that Corbin will win the game similar to how you have it. On the other hand, my head is tellin me Bell by about 3 tds as my initial pick indicates. Hopefully the heart will beat out my head in this prediction.
