  1. Bah college games. We're talking real football that the locals can drive to and get into for a reasonable price. Plus this game is going to be better than any old college game anyway.
  2. But they may also pick up several fans from surrounding schools that would like the opportunity to see the game when otherwise they would not be able to due to watching their team play. It may mean even more fans because that's the only game in town.
  3. Russell does live broadcast at http://www.1071kiss.com click on the listen live link towards the top right of the page. Ashland is on b97.1 at http://www.b97fm.com click on the listen live link towards the top right of the page. That's only if you can stand to listen to the announcers.
  4. Christ he's on his knees and is almost as tall as the other kid. The even scarier part is that he's only a sophomore.:scared:
  5. Doesn't that sound oddly reminiscent of what everyone said of Ft. Campbell last year.:sssh:
  6. Jacob Sizemore, Tyler Jones and Kasey Clark...............Nuff said.
  7. Whatever works the best at the given time!!! :thumb: :sssh:
  8. Amen to that. I had a gentleman stop me in the locker room at the YMCA while I was changing clothes. I was putting on my old Russell shirt that I wore to the weight room and he started on me. I never really figured out where he was from, I can only assume Boyd Co. Because the whole time I was getting ready he stood there and went on and on about Russell losing to Boyd Co. I told him "I'll take that loss in trade for the ring" That's all he said from then on every time I saw him. He would walk past me, shake his head and say "But you lost to Boyd Co" :irked: :irked: :irked:
  9. Not trying to start a fight here. I listened to the game while I was watching the Russell/Greenup game. Did Ashland actually knock the ball loose all 6 times or was it an occasional case of fumbilitis mixed in with some good hits? I see what JFLdad is trying to say here. It could have been hits and it could have been butter fingers. If it was the latter then I'd say Belfry beat themselves if the former then it was a well deserved win by the Cats.
  10. Guess I'll go ahead and take Russell by a little. What impressed me the most in the Greenup game was the fact that it wasn't the Kasey Clark show. Trust me everyone knows that we are blessed to have Kasey in the backfield but their were several players that touched the ball and scored. IMHO Ashland cannot focus totally on Kasey and i think that will help us squeak out a win in historic Putnam Stadium.
  11. I know that both teams had at least one a piece called back according to the radio broadcast. I was at the Russell/Greenup game but I listened to the Ashland/Belfry game because the Russell game was a snoozer.:sssh:
  12. Man that's an awful bold statement. Me being a Russell fan will go on record that you may see another barn burner next week just like they saw this week. I really don't think that one team will rock the other either way you want to look at it.:fire:
  13. OH YEA!! It's only 5:15 and we are getting ready to head out. Stop at Wendy's to get a bite to eat and head on down to the game. Because I can't convince my wife that the game doesn't start till 7:30.
  14. Really by his logic maybe Ashland should play in AA as well. That way they will be able to beat up on the weak teams that make up class AA. I really appreciate the majority of the Ashland posters honesty and integrity concerning the team and the games. I'm glad not everyone is completely clouded by their maroon glasses. While I commend GIAT's enthusiasm toward his team but there is a time to be a gracious looser. If you get beat admit it and congratulate the winners and not blame it on bad officiating, Ashland beating themselves....etc, Give credit where credit is due. I've said my piece and it's time to move on. Look forward to seeing Ashland in a couple of weeks.
  15. Yes but you do realize that was the ONLY loss that Russell had on their way to winning the state championship. Plus it was to a non ranked 3a team. BTW Russell finished the season at 14-1 last year...........:sssh:
  16. I'll take The red army of Belfry buy a TD or 2. Ashland is coming off of a poor showing against a good Raceland team. Belfry is coming off a squeaker against a dominant single A team in NCC. Ashland has some soul searching to do to get back to where they want to be. Belfry is typically a slow starting team but it impressed me that they beat NCC. So they should come in fired up. But as in every Friday night WHO KNOWS! If Russell wasn't opening this week I'd venture to Putnam and see the game myself.
  17. Yep!!!!! Wing T all the way from our little part of the state.:thumb:
  18. Just to clarify and not be a jerk. The extra point was blocked. As with any team on any given Friday night you cannot make comparisons of who beat who and when they beat them. Maybe Newport had an off night and NCC played extremely well that night. It all goes back to the saying that anyone can win on any given night. Oh and BTW whether it was 1 point or 40 Russell still won on that particular Friday night and advanced to Louisville.:fire:
  19. I agree. I think Russell was upwards of 36 minutes total offense. Hard to put points on the board if you can't get your offense on the field. :thumb:
  20. Very immature and uncalled for. I believe that if we dug around we could find stuff like that about ashland fans/players but does that give us a reason to post it here? I think not. All players think they are going to win. It's part of their drive. If they thought they were going to lose then they don't have the mindset to play the game. I am speaking from experience. My son played for a local school and graduated last year. All I heard was how tough they were and how they were gonna win. Well guess what....They did. But that's part of the game. No reason to bring stuff like that into BGP.
  21. You could play both and come out pretty good. Brown from Russell played both ways all year last year along with some kickoff return. The style of offense that Russell ran would be even tougher because of all the scrambling and bootleg running they do. Good luck to whomever steps up to the QB position. They have some big shoes to fill.:thumb:
  22. Kasey Clark and Nick Lewis from Russell should have a good year. As for other teams I have not kept up to speed so I too would be interested in what others have to say.
