Top EKY RBs

Featured Replies

I haven't heard a lot about how things are shaping up for EKY teams this year. So, for now, who looks to be the top RBs in EKY?

And to cut out any boundary contraversy, please include SEKY & NEKY (i.e. Russell, SW, Somerset, Raceland, Ashland, etc).

BTW......I would post a top 5 or 10, but I am not familiar enough with many of the names.

Kasey Clark and Nick Lewis from Russell should have a good year. As for other teams I have not kept up to speed so I too would be interested in what others have to say.

Middlesboro returns a pair of speedy backs:

Casey Earls - 5'11", 175#, 4.66 forty - 1870 All-Purpose yards and 144 Pts scored in 2005.

C. G. Ford - 5'7", 180#, 4.62 forty - 938 yards, 86 Pts scored in 2005.

Lynn Camp returns Joe Roskopf, who rushed for over 1200 yards, while playing behind Josh Reynolds and Jimmy Chaffin. Sidney Wagner is another name to watch out for from LC. He has worked hard this off season, and hopefully will make some noise this season.

Sophomore Daniel Harmon should be Pikeville's top back this upcoming season and he is going to be one of the top backs in the mountains the next 3 years.

Morgan County's Derrick Young is among the top backs in EKY for next season along with the aforementioned list of players.

CLARK- RUSSELL

LEWIS-RUSSELL

JONES-RUSSELL

THOMAS- ASHLAND

These are the names that stand out to me. Yes there are more but Hey Im a Devil and I just remember the kid from Ashland, he's good too.

Corbin should have a solid stable of backs with the likes of Blake Freeman and the addition of T.R. Christopher from Bell and hosscat Sophomore Michael Campbell. CJ Light, Josh Sanders, and others are also plenty capable of getting some good yards this year.

Kasey Clark is probably the best overall back in EKY.

Belfry lost their speediest back from last year, 1000+ yard rusher Matt maynard.

But they still return a couple of 1000+ yard rushers, RB Cory Chapman and FB Dustin May. Look for May to move to RB and someone else to fill the FB spot.

When I played.....We had 4 backs that could start almost in any backfield in Eastern KY. Never Heard of 3 backs from the same team, who are all among the best in EKY.

Ryan Howard of Leslie County will be hands down the best running back in the 14th this year if he doesn't quarterback.

QB!!! Yikes! Well, I guess without Morgan, you have to find a way to get the ball in his hands. 85% of Leslie's offense should be geared to getting the ball into Howard or Hubbard's hands. Those 2 are so much fun to watch!

Cody Quinn from South Laurel will be a big surprise to many, but not those of us who have seen him play. He could actually be an improvement over Cory Brown as Brown was more East/West and Quinn is more North/South with the ability to go East/West when necessary.

Ryan Brandenburg from North Laurel is the consumate power fullback. Big, strong and hard to bring down. He will give NL that big powerback if someone can just take over the TB spot, they could have a solid running game this year.

Even though Clay County doesn't run the ball a lot they have a great back in Byron Bragg. He is quick, agile, and he can see the field great. He didn't get many carries last year, but when he did he put some big yards up.
