  1. The 14th region is represented by SS Riley Hendrix, Leslie Co. and SS Keenan Muncy, Powel Co. Quinton Morgan signed D-1 which is an automatic invitation, he's from Leslie Co.
  2. Congraudulations to the Knights. With the pitching staff they will be hard to handle. Michael Fahs is one of the most underated pitchers in the state. Lipscomb University has found a diamond in the rough with this kid
  3. Hendrix plays SS for the Leslie Eagles. He has never played in the outfield
  4. Riley Hendrix Freed-Hardeman University Henderson, TN
  5. Ryan Howard of Leslie County will be hands down the best running back in the 14th this year if he doesn't quarterback.
  6. I thought all this fussing back and forth was pretty funny until I read the post that the catcher used foul languge. I have known him since he was 13 years old and I can say that if he did this it was his first. I happen to believe the opposite. He is a very good kid very repectful of the people he's around. I can't even start to imagine that he used foul language. The game is over and Catholic is in the playoffs. Danville has a excellent team and will be good next year as well. Good luck to Paul Morse and his team.
  7. Congradulations. Your going to one of the best schools in the mountains. You will love coach Cornett.
  8. I'v watched Witten play for several years. He has continually gotten better each season. I've seen numerous players over the years not only in KY but several other states. What I'm getting ready to say is debatable and that's OK. Rich Witten could very well be the best player in the state this season. I also predict he will skip college and accept the draft offer that's coming his way. Paul Morse has done an excellent job preparing this young man from his youth up. I look forward to watching him play this summer with the Morse Baseball Academy summer team. If things hold true to the past, the scouts will be buzzing around this team all year.
  9. That is a first for me. It doesn't matter who the host school is. The top seed is always the home team. Does this mean that Danville will be the visitors tonight against Lincoln Co. ??
  10. Danville had a good win last night against a team that could have spoiled the big dance for Paul Morris. Rich Witten had a sub par performance on the mound but made up for it with the 33" stick going 3 for 3. CJ Lynn had another good outing behind the plate (nothing strange) to keep his team in the reality zone. Congradulations to the Danville gang. Just in case you get a little cocky or over confidence, remember what Lincoln Co. did to you a few years back. Look for a big game tonight from CJ Lynn going against his old team mates. I know Scott Cornett coach at Alice Loyd College is eagerly awaiting for his arrival in Pipa Pases. Good luck the rest of the playoffs and don't cause Paul to have to turn his hat around backwards.
  11. Another great game between two very good teams. I'm very impressed with the Lee Co. team. The players coaches and fans are a class act. You make your county proud I'm sure. In talking with the players at Leslie they really enjoyed playing a good team like Lee. You only get better playing good competition. Good luck to both teams and don't get blind sided along the way to the Region.
  12. Lee Co. has a very good baseball team. The kids seemed to have a lot of respect for the game. Lee is one of the best places I've been for a baseball game. They do things the way they should be done. That say's alot for the coaches, players and fans. Good luck and hope to beat you guys tonight at Leslie. P.S. Osborne is the real deal.
  13. Congradulations to SW. They have a good team with a very good coaching staff. One of the best fields in the state. In talking with some of the fans they are very proud of there facility and should be. It's sad that the umpire was in a big hurry to go somewhere and caused the game to end the way he did. It wasn't fair to the SW players or Leslie.
  14. Jeremy will make coach Cornett a very good player. He has the work ethic and skills to go along with it. I look for him to be an impact player right away. Good luck
  15. Cumberland has a very good team. One of the best outfields I've seen in a long time. Leslie smacked the ball all over the field. They had very good pitching but Leslie knocked the cover off the ball. Leslie has a very solid team. The infield is almost flawless even with two starters out.
  16. 1. Leslie 2. Lee 3. South Laurel 4. North Laurel 5. Allen Central 6. Cumberland 7. Johnson Central 8. Corbin 9. Paintsville 10. Pikeville
  17. Shannon Roberts had another good showing against a very good Cumberland team. He had a no hitter going into the 6th inning when a blooper fell just outside the infield. Cumberland has a very talented team that plays hard. Leslie now goes to 15-0 and has set a school record for the best start and the most consecutive wins in a single season. They have accomplished this despite loosing two of the starters in the infield, out with injury (Gavin Wells torn leg mucle, Tyler Wells appendix surgery) Both players are expected to return in two to three weeks. Also rumor has it that another Leslie player is expected to sign to play college baseball this week. Two has already signed (Riley Hendrix, Quentin Morgan). Good luck Eagles.
  18. Congradulations Quentin You have been fun to watch throughout the years. You have always been a competitor on and off the field. Morehead doen't know it yet but they have found a diamond in the rough.
  19. Congradulations to Riley. Freed-Hardeman is a good school and plays in a very competitive conference. Riley was recruited for the shortstop position. He has a very good opportunity of starting his freshman year. Freed-Hardeman is located in the western part of TN next to Arkansas, Mississippi and Memphis. From Leslie Co. it's about a seven and half hour drive. The school was founded by members of the Church of Christ, Freed and Hardeman. Good luck to Riley and the remainder of the baseball season at Leslie Co.
  20. Leslie Lee Powell Owsley PCC Knott Estill Buckhorn Hazard Letcher
  21. This was a big win fro Cat. regardless of the time of year. I heard Michael Phas was given the ball. I've not seen him pitch in about a year. If he has improved since I last saw him he is a terror on the mound. Very smart and knows where to place the ball for each hitter. Good luck the rest of the season to both teams.
  22. Just curious how Bottoms and Justin did. Both good kids.
  23. Good game for both teams. Knott has a good team. With the talent and coaching they will be very solid by the end of the season. Leslie looked decent considering they have only practiced a few times. In my opinion they will be the team to beat. Morgan, Roberts and Hendrix looked very solid on the mound. All three pitchers were throwing in the 80s. Good luck to all the teams in the 14th region. P.S. As for the 7th grader pitching he looked like a senior. He will be a dandy (already is). His coach is smart and I'm sure they will protect his arm.
  24. It would be my guess that if they do it will be for no more than a couple of innings. They will have less than two weeks practice under their belt so my bet is that they will see at least three pitchers.
  25. Baseball practice begins today for the Leslie Co. Eagles basketball players. They will join the rest of the team that has been working without them. I think they are about 9 or 10 players that will be joining the team today. I'm sure coach Melton will be glad to see his team on the field. Leslie will open up the season against a much improved Knott co. team. This will be a good measuring stick for both clubs. Knott has one of the best coaches in the mountains and demands good play from his team. Good luck to all the teams in the 14th region. When the dust settles may the best team come out on top.
