  1. Where was this thread in December? In January? Ask programs and people from outside yoru area what they think about the Scott H.S. basketball program and they will tell you classy gentlemen that are really well coached and disciplined. Brad Carr has put Scott High School on the map, no longer do people think it's Scott County.
  2. Sounds like the 2nd mistake in Kentucky HS basketball in as many days. The 15th region girl's game has similar issue on a last second shot and alleged phantom foul that won the game for Shelby Valley over Betsy Layne.
  3. Time for a change? Absurd. Coach Kidwell is one of the most respected coaches in the area and does an excellent job. Russell will improve even more next year when their young players mature. Their best talent is within their younger kids. They will be much improved next season with another year of experience.
  4. The public school athletics in Fayette County has been declining partly due to the lack of support those schools are getting from BOE and administration.
  5. This game will be played tonight in West Liberty as scheduled.
  6. Faith Slone hits a last second shot to pull out the win for the Lady Cougars
  7. Morgan Co. scrimmages Russell at Rowan Co. on Friday afternoon.
  8. Morgan Co. snapped state's 2nd longest losing streak at 22 this year. Won 2 games, their first senior night win in 13 years, went from averaging 6-7 points per game to 19.7 and from giving up right at 50ppg to 34.7 and doing so with several Freshman starters. Was a big improvement compared to the last two years.
  9. This game is at Morgan Co. Every home game for the Cougars have been rather exciting. Pound, Va. was OT thriller, Cougars break losing streak and beat Powell Co, Cougars had Magoffin Co. sweating with ball at 20 yard line before losing 24-20, Leslie edges Cougs in Sorghum Bowl 18-16, and Bath Co. scores on 4th down to ice the game last week. Cougars have another streak to break and that is consecutive senior night losses.
  10. I have said it for years and years now, the SEC officiating cadre is among the worst in all of sports at that level and above. I don't have to watch Kentucky and see it happening. So many to name in such little time, of the absurd game costing calls the SEC is notorious for making. While I'm for Florida to win a national championship and I'm a huge fan of Tim Tebow and all of that team, the personal foul call nearly made me fall out of the chair on Saturday. It is about time the SEC holds this bunch accountable. The SEC is the best and most exciting conference in collegiate athletics and maybe the best settings for sports as a whole college or pro....but the SEC has fraudulent officials and frustrating to see games decided by them on a weekly basis.
  11. Great win for West Jessamine. To see them at 6-0 from where they were before coach Randy Wood took over is amazing. Coach Wood flies under the radar, definitely not a self-promoter, but he is definitely worthy of Coach of the year honors and be in the same talk as those coaches for any prestigous post-season award.
  12. I agree with bugatti. Kentucky can't sit back and play conservative defensively. I would like to see more in the box vs. the Gators, trying to contain their speed by playing responsibiltiies will not be a good match up for us. Risky yes, but forcing FLA. into 2nd and 3rd and longs are a must...it seems as if 3rd downs are automatic 1st downs no matter the yardage because we are not pushing forcing the issue defensively.
  13. Thanks for the compliments, but most all of you guys have better observations than I, perhaps I just get it rolling....haha. I think U of L will win some games and should go to a bowl actually. Watching John Connor get to corner on the lead block is so fun, the next thing you see is a guys legs fly straight up in the air!! Would like to see him as lead blocker more in the red zone. He is actually very good at catching out of the backfield as well, maybe we might see some dumps to him this week. Wish UK pregame was a little more enthusiastic. Hearing Carl Nathe tell me about the nearest exit in the unlikely event of an emergency just don't get me fired up.
  14. 1. 2-0 is better than 1-1. Kentucky wins and does not perform to the best of ability, turns it over, but makes plays to prevent a true debacle. 2. Hartline played better than 3rd quarter showed. Just 1 ball, the one to McCaskill that he truely missed on his throw, and until I watched replay of game, didn't realize he had those halftime numbers...However, I do wish he would scramble more and get 5-7 yards on 1st or 2nd down, but then again I see how he managed the scramble on 3rd down in which we had to punt late and I see why he don't. 3. John Connor is good, have always said that...his ability to blow up defenders on the perimter is the best I have ever seen by a UK fullback. 4. Still worry about quarterbacks with happy feet...we struggle with those... 5. Play calling was pretty basic...why do we never throw at the sticks on 3rd down? Attempt at the 1st? seems so many times we "dump" off for short gain... 6. Offensive line did a pretty good job, kept Hartline from getting hit. 7. The band now has 16 tubas...big improvement. 8. The clock operator situation at the end of the half was HORRRRRIBLE. The game officials did an awful job at managing the game and their responsiblities. BIG 10, or should I say Big 2...little 10, are about as bad as SEC officiating. That is two games in a row (AT HOME)that I question the striped calls...Remember Vanderbilt? 9. Tailgating sucks for 12:00 Kickoff...a 6:00 PM kickoff should sauce everyone up a little more on Saturday. 10. Kragthorpe I thought had a good game plan and had his team prepared, I just don't know if this character has the moxy to keep Coaching at the "ville". But he may very well be fine if given enough time....but? 11. Speaking of...multiple U of L fans enjoy throwing the name of John Gruden around the stadium, for fun? Or for something more? :sssh: 12. Don't put much stock into #11 since I was told by someone who heard...we all know how that garbage gets started....but just sayin' 13. U of L dance team was strong, very strong. 14. Winston Guy is fast, Trevathan is a head hunter, Maxwell is solid, and I want to see Matt Lentz blow up someone this Saturday, I like his style. 15. Need Tydlacka to boom a few, about whiffed on some yesterday. 16. Lones Sieber first to wear girdle pads for game pants? I remember when Tim Couch was flagged at Georgia for not having them at or below knee level.
  15. They should match up with Bath Co. very well this season I think. Shelby Valley has a great deal of talent and speed. They probably match up better with Bath than Shelby Valley, this year. In the upcoming years, they should match up with everyone in their district...but still have to gain valuable experience and get older, which they are doing now.
  16. Morgan County snaps the states 2nd longest losing streak at 21 games! The official score was 42-26. Morgan County also had 460+ yards rushing last night. The Cougars dominated Powell Co. much like the Pirates dominated the Cougars the previous two seasons. The Cougars continue to get outstanding play from Seniors Kyle Havens, Mitchell Harvey, and Adam Cooper but are just as balanced with 4 outstanding freshman in QB Larrin Collins, Walker Crase, Joe Holbrook (1 interception), and Tyler Conley at TE. The very young Cougars have made tremendous improvement in a short while and it was an exciting night and great to see them finally shed the losing streak.
  17. Coach Randy Wood is one of the best coaches anywhere and what he has done at West Jessamine is nothing short of outstanding. He took over a horrible program and made them winners in a very short while. Hope the Colts can make it to 3-0.
  18. Pound spoils the Cougars bid at ending a 20 game losing by drilling a FG in OT to beat Morgan 31-28. Pound would lead 14-0 before Morgan's Mitchell Harvey scampered 75 yards on the kickoff return to make it 14-6. Pound returned the favor by returning Morgan's kick about 80 yards to make it 20-6. Kyle Havens, Adam Cooper, and Mitchell Harvey would get Morgan back in it and got a late 2nd Q. TD from Kyle Havens, to make it 20-14. Pound would score to make it 28-14 in the 3rd, but Morgan battled back and marched it down field and scored to make it 28-22. Late in the 4th, Morgan stopped Pound on 4th and short from the Cougar 30 yard line, however, Morgan would turn it over on downs with about 2:00 minutes left and Pound had it deep in Cougar territory. Pound would manage to get the 1st down they needed and actually march the football in side the Cougar 10 yard line with under a minute to go. However, Pound went for the nail in the coffin score with under :30 seconds to go in the game, Morgan's Jamie Ferguson would rip the football out of the QB's arms at about the 4-5 yard line, as fans were leaving, they began screaming....and I think about 700 people outran Ferguson to the other end of the field...rumbling, stumbling, and huffing with about a 25 yard gap from anybody behind him....he was eyeing paydirt.....and a miracle score, however Pound players caught him at the 15 yard line with under :25 seconds to go......Morgan would get three plays off and score in miraculous fashion with 14.1 seconds to go to tie the game at 28-28...Morgan elected to kick the XP...and what many thought was "good"...was called no good by the officials and they headed to overtime. Morgan was stopped a yard shy of endzone on their possession, and on 4th and goal Pound drilled the 18 yard FG to win 31-28. An exciting game and at least Morgan Co. had a chance to win and kept battling. Morgan Co. is much improved but are very, very young. Freshman QB Larrin Collins has managed the offense excellent. while Junior QB Jared Curd remains out with a broken thumb.
  19. Rowan County should be a formidable offensive test for Garrard County. Darryl Cross is the real deal. 4.45 (40 dash) speed and what is more impressive is his ability to make defenders miss. One on one in the open field, Garrard Co. will have some trouble. Rowan is really not a one trick pony either...QB Adam Weng can throw it and he has some quality targets at the WR position.
  20. Morgan County's Tanner Roy could very well be the 16th Region's best PG.
  21. I agree 100%...the MS information was info to go along with the announcement. I could have put down flag football championships or old school Tecmo Bowl championships on Nintendo, but didn't think that was too relevant. BTW, San Fransciso's quick slant could never be stopped on Tecmo Bowl and the Cleveland Browns kickoff return guy could return kicks for TD's almost every time. At any rate, Morgan Co. football would give anything to return to the seasons of 2004 and 2005. There was never more excitement than those two seasons and were a lot of fun.
  22. No, no relation, but I think he does resemble a Morgan Co. assistant coach from the 2004-05 season...just can't think of who it is right off... The middle school leagues I'm not too familiar with in terms of who all participated, of course your major programs in the area of Louisville, Lexington, Covington were probably not represented. There were around maybe 8 conferences that took part? Somebody can correct if I'm wrong. They did lose to a very talented bluegrass middle school that I think is the feeder to John Hardin H.S. (22-14) They were more than just competitive against a feeder school much larger than Morgan.
  23. Brian Turner will be the new Cougar Football Coach. Turner served as head coach in 2003. He was previously and since been the Head Middle School Coach. Last season he lead the MS Cougars to a 16-1 record and state semi-final apperance.
  24. Cougars scored 2 runs in bottom of 1st and the Colonels avoided a bigger inning by Morgan, as they left the bases loaded. Was a great pitching duel and the Cougar infield played excellent defense. The MI combo of Nickell and Adkins is very underrated. Morgan Co. improves to 12-5 and Bourbon drops to 17-2. Both losses coming to 16th region opponents.
  25. ...and the KHSAA just put out a reminder that all ejections will result in minimum of (2) game suspensions instead of (1).
