Who will be the next head coach at Fleming County?
Nets replied to colonelfan2001's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
We fully expect Coach Perry to be back for his 11th season at Morgan County next season, however, Coach Perry does have a passion for coaching and I do believe his ultimate goal would be to break into the collegiate ranks someday. Not many work harder than Coach Perry. He completed this season coaching the Cougars at all levels. In addition to his high school duties, he coached the entire Middle school season, 6th, 7th, and 8th grade teams, runs the Jr. pro program from top to bottom, coached a K-2 team, assisted with another, and his son Jordan (5th grade) plays on an AAU team out of Lexington and are actually coming back from Indianapolis today from a tournament. His dedication to coaching and player improvement are top notch. -
KIFFIN..... Is an idiot and his arrogance will be trumped on Saturday's in the South.

What BGP member has the most Basketball Knowledge?
Nets replied to Eta Rho's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Two retired members were pretty knowledgable Tubby's Best Friend and Cubster. Miss the 16th region polls. -
The Lexington Herald Leader is a huge problem in terms of support of Kentucky athletics...I do not care to read anything some of those clowns have to say (or make up) The LHL kills the University of Kentucky.

http://www.commercialappeal.com has breaking news wire at top of page that said John Caliapari has met with Memphis basketball team and hinted leaving for Kentucky!
-
I hope Calipari does accept the offer for a variety of reasons. Kentucky needs to find a fit that will excite the current roster of players, bring an image back to Kentucky that is positive, generate anticipation and excitement in general, and has an aura about them that stands out. What is aggravating for any coach would be the... MEDIA The media in Kentucky have just about killed Kentucky sports of football and basketball over the past 20 years. The Lex. Herald-Leader is cutting staff and that may be a good thing...watching our media handle sports matters at the University of Kentucky is mind boggling to say the least and one of the most unattractive points about being the head coach of football or basketball. You would think since "Kentucky" is not a media blitzed area like NY, LA, Chicago, Atl, Houston, or Miami, that it wouldn't be as negative as it is...however, lots of grumblings around the state are tired of the "positions" and spins being thrown out by a select few who have media clout and voice. I have always enjoyed Alan Cutler's viewpoints but the last two years he is just story hunting and trying to make a name for himself...His Geraldo Rivera like approach (Friday, chasing down BCG) was absurd and just plain stupid. I was completely turned off by this.

Their QB needs to play ! He would perhaps be one of the best football/basketball combination athlete in Ky.

It has been talked about in circles for the last couple of years that FAYETTE COUNTY is not an attractive market for coaches due to the lack of non-support by the FCBOE and direction of athletics among the feeder programs, which have been nearly cut off and minimal in development. Fayette Co. schools should point the finger directly upon themselves when they begin to question the direction of their H.S. sports programs.

Sportsmaniac's Redistricting 15th and 16th Region
Nets replied to sportsmaniac's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
If Fleming leaves the 16th and goes back to the 10th and Lawrence Co. wants back in, it would be logical and possible that Morgan Co. would go back to the 61st district and Lawrence County to the 62nd. Keep the 63rd and 64th the same. -
Morehead State vs. Alabama State (Play in game)
Nets replied to BigBlueFreak's topic in College Basketball
The play-in game works to MSU advantage in terms of publicity, etc., because it's the 1st game and all eyes across the country will be on them. Should help some hopefully with recruiting. -

5 team-with Montgomery will not happen. -
Holmes is best defensive basketball team that I've seen in person this year. In addition, Boone County may even be the 2nd best...at any rate, whoever plays Holmes will have to make contested shots. They contest everything in the paint and are very long and athletic at every single position.

Sportsmaniac's Redistricting 15th and 16th Region

No way does the 16th, 61st District add Montgomery Co. and create a 5 team district, especially when Rowan Co. Superintendent Marvin Moore is on the KHSAA Board of Control. That is one thing for certain that will not happen. -
I attended Holmes championship game vs. Boone County. Both teams locked each other up very well. Holmes will be the best defensive team at the state tournament next week. They are very long and can really bottle up gifted offensive players. You can now but that D back in bullogs.

Lewis County 62 Bath County 59
Nets replied to The Hook 2009's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
I really don't think this score surprised that many people. Coach Hampton has done another tremendous job and his young talent have progressed nicely. Lewis Co. is the better team and will advance to the title game in an old 62nd District showdown. Gutty performance as well, considering the injuries and illness that surrounded Lewis Co. in the last week or so, I don't think they were 100%. It was a good season in Owingsville with a district championship. -
Ashland 73 Rowan County 65 (OT)

Coach Thacker did a great job with this Rowan Co. team, especially down the stretch. -

West Carter 66 Morgan County 58
Nets replied to highschoolsportsfan's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Congrats to West Carter...they crushed the Cougars on the glass 35-19 and that negated the hot shooting by the Cougars in the 1st half. Congrats to Coach Webb and his Comets. -
Every time Flannery comes in...he pops a 3 pointer as easy as he does a 25 foot side winding putt for birdie.

Of the people on that list...Mikey Hall at South Floyd was one entertaining shooter! He could play it. -

What makes Jonathan more appealing to collegiate coaches is his ability to elevate and shoot, create, etc. There are a lot of good 'set shooters' around, but he makes 3's from 22-24 feet with people in his jersey...he has strength to elevate and get shot off vs. bigger defenders. And I have never seen a player in the 16th region make more off balanced shots in the lane in my life!:thumb: -
Morgan will have some nice pitching with Lopez, Adkins, Nickell, and Harvey Harvey will likely move to behind the plate when not on the mound. The key will be hitting at the middle/bottom of the order. Should be strong defensively in the IF, outfield is a ? but do return Cameron Dunn and Cory Murphy. Should be a top 5 team with plenty of depth and athleticism. East Carter and Morgan Co. should be strong contenders from the 62nd.
