I saw this on the KHSAA web ste and didn't see it posted yet.

Congrats to the Tomcats on an overtime win. :thumb:

Ashland seemed to have a comfortable lead and almost blew it, but advnced in OT, good luck Monday vs. Elliott Co.

Ashland had trouble with Rowan's pressure. Ashland kept pressing and was leaving Rowan with good shots in transition, were lucky to pull this one off.

Ashland was up by 16 for several minutes, then turnovers almost lost it for them. Rowan shot the ball well. Congratulations to Coach Biggs and the young Tomcats!

Congrats Ashland....... Good effort by Rowan Co to come back from 16 in the 4th and go into OT

Congrats to Biggs and his Tomcats. I will be rooting for the underdog in the Tomcats in the semifinal game.

I thought Coach Thacker did a great job with adjustments & subbing to help get his team back in the game. Give him a few years to develop the skills of his players & get them some game experience & I think you may see a yearly contender in the 16th from Rowan.

Another year and Ashland finds themselves in the region semi's... They could be 0-25 and would still win that first round district game and a game at Johnson Arena it seems.

Coach Thacker did a great job with this Rowan Co. team, especially down the stretch.

I agree with that.:thumb:

Coach Thacker is a great guy and coach. He'll have Rowan competing for a region title soon.

Wow, talk about an exciting quarter of high school basketball! If Rowan had kept up that momentum thru the OT play, they would have, IMO, came away the victor.

As long as they play the district at Ashland, Bob Kouns makes a cameo appearance to referee the first game (but is assigned elsewhere both before and after that game), and Ashland gets an obscene number of foul shots, they should prevail in the first round.

However, I have been told by a knowledgeable source in that area that next year the district will be held at Boyd County, Kouns will be blackballed by one or more district coaches, and Ashland will be no better than second and probably third in the district.

That will tend to test their "durability".

This was one of the best fourth quarter comebacks I have seen in a long time. The tomcats shot the lights out in the third quarter to build a big lead and this game looked to be all but over. But the Vikings looked like a team fighting for thier lives to come back and tie the game and send it to overtime. The Vikings simply just ran out of gas in OT and the Tomcats prevailed. In a couple years Coach Thacker will have the Vikings in the hunt for a regional title and at the top of the 16th Region.
