Ligon resigns from Bryan Station

So they fired him back in 07'? For what reasons?

Apparently the admin doesn't appreciate quality coaching.

What gets me is why he went back after they came back begging him to take over again.

I believe there was a pretty large public outcry after the 30-3 season.

If they fired me I'd never come back. I don't care who wanted me back. It was a losing situation for him. Too bad for a good guy.

The funny thing was that he teaches AP Physics and the admin wanted him to stay in the classroom because he was a fantastic teacher but they told him it was unhealthy for the players to be around him.

Is there a reason we're talking about this now?

I really can't understand this decision...does anyone have any insight?

^There has to be more to this story.

Can't blame Ligon for this. Who would want to put up with the non-supportive administration?

When the football coach and basketball coach up and leave, there is an administration problem.

You nailed it.

Many of the comments in the Lexington Herald Leader's online story seemed to be very critical of the administration around him. Station also lost a football coach who seemed to have restored a positive image to the program. It seems as though there might be plenty of things that the general public will never know about this situation.

The public school athletics in Fayette County has been declining partly due to the lack of support those schools are getting from BOE and administration.

I am very saddened to hear this..Champ Liggon is a first class person that also teaches in the classroom as well as on the court.

I have wittnessed him completely turn a program in shambles to a very complete team that has ranked as high as number 1 in the state. Hard to believe an administration would alow this to happen. Good Luck Coach Liggon, We hope to see you back on the sidlines soon where you are wanted.:ohbrother:
