article Transfers impacting Regional Champions
hoopsr1 replied to HoopDreamsCoachQ's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
This is not just becoming a trend. If we go back 20 years of state champions winners, how many you think would have a transfer on them? Probably well over half -
This is all about UofL, but anyone who thinks UofL basketball is the only team conducting this type of recruiting activity has their head in the sand. EVERY top 20 program is doing something similar for recruits. Probably not to the extent as UofL, but close.

article Six Degrees of Basketball Separation
hoopsr1 replied to 15th Region's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
1) GRC Humphrey coached against billy hicks last year against Scott co. 2) billy hicks coached mcdonalds all American game in 2012 while shabazz Muhammad played in that game 3) shabazz plays for minnesota timberwolves with Kevin Garnett, 4) Kevin Garnett played against Michael Jordan. As well someone mentioned rodman and Kobe. Rodman played with the lakers late in his career. -

I guarantee every word is true and the entire business is even worse today. -
Recruiting at the high major level is a national scene, not an in state scene. Is it nice to get the local boys? Yes. Is it necessary? No. Would you rather keep the local talent? Absolutely. ESPN top 100 for 2016 has 7 players from Ohio in it and 2 signed with Ohio state. And btw Last time I checked oden and Conley were nice local boys from Indiana. . . Let's not act like the state of ohio is the only source of HM recruiting. . . Is the program in a down year? Absolutely. But anyone who thinks Matta should be fired, has incredibly ridiculous expectations for the program.
-
Matta been at ohio state for around 10 years. With 5 big 10 regular season championships, 4 tournament championships (anyone who thinks the number of championships isn't enough needs to consider how good Izzo and mich state have always been. In the same time span mich. State has won 3 regular season titles and two big ten tourneys) and matta led them to two final fours. A winning percentage north of .750 . . . All at a football school. And you can't talk really about his recruiting efforts since the second pick of the draft last year came from Ohio state. So I'm really having a hard time grasping your matta should leave, especially when ohio state won't find anyone better.

Nobody will get the "job" done the way the administration wants to have it until there are major facility upgrades for football and basketball. There is talk of the new stands, offices, weight lifting building to be raised on the old visitors side of the football field. However, just like everything else that's being promised at EKU there isn't much coming to fruition. Of course, unless you're a coach and then you'll lose your job.

NOTHING good can come out of storming the court. If someone would breakdown the tape of the entire court, section by section, they would find punches being thrown on any segment that might involve a coach or player. My son was involved in two monumental court storms and he said he's never been more afraid for his life than both of those times.

DIII no higher.

Bryan Station's last trip to the sweet 16 was in 1989. Michael Allen played guard and Robert "Nimbo" Hammons was a sophomore on that team. They lost in the old Saturday morning semis to Wayne Co. -

I couldn't agree more. Guys like Richard Pitino and the Sutton brothers all paid their dues and learned the craft. He better have someone older on his staff that can direct him. -

Couldn't it just mean that summer camps are over with and he is going home for rest of summer? Could be wrong, but link was pretty speculative
-
Would most agree that it is not on the player but the school and administration to make this decision? I am fine with those that disagree with the charging of autographs in schools. I completely see your point, but shouldn't the school administration provide these guidelines and decisions. I don't completely see the point in putting the blame on the athletes.

Well technically speaking Strickland couldn't recruit or be on the court for practice time, and any other special assistant will have the same compliance restrictions across the country ..... Sooo essentially if you do hire someone it will need to be a name, probably former player like what Cal did with tony delk and Scott Padgett. But that's just my opinion
-
Strickland isn't an assistant, so maybe no one. Maybe a former player to fill that role
