Seeding vs Blind draw

Recommended Posts

Someone should tell the coaches to vote for seeding, ultimatley at least in this district the coaches vote whether or not to seed at least in the 38th anyway.

They do vote. The problem is you have Bellevue, Dayton, Newport, Highlands and NCC. How do you think that vote turns out? That's why they don't seed the 36th. I'm not saying its wrong or right either way, just saying if you let them vote, the 36th will never be seeded.

I do believe that softball and baseball are seeding this year.

All I am saying is this a never ending thing on here. Every people wonder why the teams here don't seed, the coaches here didn't vote for it, rather to just have a blind drawing, it could end up Deming vs Harrison, Pendleton vs Nicholas County, or it could be the same ol' turnout.

There are some who think it hurts the district by not seeding thinking the 2 best schools should play to 2 "Not good Schools" and as it goes when the 2 better Schools play in the first round that was the championship game, they insuiate like playing a smaller school like Deming/Nicholas County is just cake. I for one am thinking one day they're going to get a shock handed to them, but then likely it'll come out as "you just got lucky" I really don't care for that characterization, but I see it almost every season.

I raised the thought last year that KSHAA basketball should have classification based on enrollment like they do in practically every other sport and most people stated how traditional and unique it is to have one true champion. While I do believe that is this case in the BSC I will go back to my argument that more teams, schools and most important players benefit with playing with schools similar in size. I know the current structure is "Holy" and "Higher" than the children that play but to me this subject is a great example of why basketball should have classification.

Classification would water down the experience for the fans and believe it or not, the players too. Plus, you will never see classification because as I have stated so many times the KHSAA would lose money if they did and that by itself will keep basketball out of the classification discussions.
