Ed Cravens new boys basketball coach at Pendleton County

Featured Replies

Coach Cravens will meet with the team at 3:30 today. Coach Cravens was a boys basketball assistant or head coach from 1984-1997 at Lincoln County, Silver Grove, and Campbell County. He was the head girls basketball coach at Campbell County from 1997-2011. During this time he compiled a 216-167 record. He won 5 district championships, made 5 Regional Semifinals Appearances, and won one Regional Championship (2003) during his 14-year tenure at Campbell County.

He will keep assistants Jon Wirth, Brent Sowder, and Craig Smith on board. He will also add assistant Keaton Belcher to his staff.

Congrats and good luck to coach Cravens.. I think it was a great move to keep coaches Sowder, Wirth, and Smith. Belcher will be a huge addition as well.

I agree. Pendleton's assistants are very strong coaches.

Congrats to the new coach. Glad he is adding Keaton to the staff.

Not only are they strong coaches on the court, they are top-notch role models off it. You couldn't ask for better guys to teach your kids.

Will Ed be teaching at the school?

No, he is retiring. This is his way of staying active after retirement.

Wow. I didn't see this one coming. Congrats to both Pendelton Co. and Coach Cravens. He will do a fine job.

WOW! What a surprise. Best part about this deal is Keaton coming home.

I don't know much about the new coach, but I am pleased that Keaton will be joining his staff.

He was no the first or second choice here. Best of luck.

Most people are aware he wasn't the first or second choice, but its still a good hire IMO....

If nothing else, Pendleton will be very exciting to watch next year. Coach Cravens is running an extremely fast-paced offense, and a constant run and jump defense. This should benefit Mason Monroe, and PC should put up a lot of points next year.

Nice backhanded compliment, not the first or second choice...the question is, is he qualified or not, and can he lead the program? Many coaches who were not the first or second choice go on to lead their teams to achieve more than they thought they were capable of. Great hire IMO, sorry, but I had to rant about the first or second choice....that is bull crap!

This is far from a great hire. Cravens is an okay coach at best but the best part about this is that Keaton is coming back. Hopefully, for you PC supporters, this is a short term hire and Keaton will take over soon.
