Lexington Christian Academy boys' basketball coach Tommy Huston is stepping down and turning over the reins to his top assistant, Brad Carter.

Huston, who led LCA for six seasons with Carter as his right-hand man, said he wanted to be sure that when the time came for him to give up the head coaching duties, Carter would succeed him.

"This pre-season I mentioned to Brad that I might want to step aside to a position with less pressure and give him his opportunity.

"I'm really proud he'll get the chance to be head coach."

Huston told the team about the change Thursday afternoon. He wanted to make it clear that he's not retiring from coaching, and will stay with the Eagles in whatever capacity Carter needs him.

"I don't know what my role will be or what level I'll coach on, but I'll be around LCA and pull for them and watch them grow," Huston said.

I've known Tommy Huston for 35 years. A class act!

Tommy is nothing but a class act. I have never heard anyone speak negatively of him. He's still going be around helping out. Tommy loves the game and teaching it.
