Morgan County Names Brian Turner New Head Football Coach

Featured Replies

Brian Turner will be the new Cougar Football Coach. Turner served as head coach in 2003. He was previously and since been the Head Middle School Coach. Last season he lead the MS Cougars to a 16-1 record and state semi-final apperance.

Is there a state semi-final for middle school football that I'm unaware of?

Yes, it is not really a state final it is some teams that have formed an association and have a play off system, one of the best middle school teams in the state last year Elkhorn was not in the play off and went 13-0 so its not really a state deal.

No, no relation, but I think he does resemble a Morgan Co. assistant coach from the 2004-05 season...just can't think of who it is right off...

The middle school leagues I'm not too familiar with in terms of who all participated, of course your major programs in the area of Louisville, Lexington, Covington were probably not represented. There were around maybe 8 conferences that took part? Somebody can correct if I'm wrong. They did lose to a very talented bluegrass middle school that I think is the feeder to John Hardin H.S. (22-14) They were more than just competitive against a feeder school much larger than Morgan.

Sorry I guess I just misinformed. Maybe they are just real close friends and made people think they are brothers.

Yeah not to take anything away from Morgan's great season, but there are a lot of teams who are not in the Middle School State Championship. I think whoever started it, is hoping it will one day grow into a true "State" Championship.

I agree 100%...the MS information was info to go along with the announcement. I could have put down flag football championships or old school Tecmo Bowl championships on Nintendo, but didn't think that was too relevant. BTW, San Fransciso's quick slant could never be stopped on Tecmo Bowl and the Cleveland Browns kickoff return guy could return kicks for TD's almost every time.

At any rate, Morgan Co. football would give anything to return to the seasons of 2004 and 2005. There was never more excitement than those two seasons and were a lot of fun.

2004-2005 were great years at MCHS. They had the most success of any team dating back 15-20 years. It will be neat to see if they hired a guy that will last more than ONE year like Turner did in 2003, Normam 2007, the recent coach 2008.

Middle school football is totally different from high school and hope MCHS made a good hire. I was informed that Turner is a Estill Co. fan and may run the Double Wing.

That might be a good offense to run for them.....it's very hard to defend.

Well I dont know if saying he is a fan of Estill is how I would put it, but he is a fan of double wing football........the fans of Morgan Co. take their football very serious and Ii don't think they would have brought Turner back if they didn't believe that he is in for a long run at the helm this time.

Great hire for MCHS. Coach Turner will turn that program around. Turner is a Double Wing man is a Estill fan. maybe not as much if they ever have to play each other.

I was told that Coach Turner and the AD are brothers is that true?

I may be wrong, but I believe he and the raido guy from there are related - maybe brothers.

Turner has inquired a few years back about the offense through Coach Jones, that's the relation, and he his bought into the system and had great success with it, great hire, good luck Coach Turner.

What happened to last years coach? I didn't know he left. I thought he was doing a good job at getting things turned around with players and weight program, etc.
