Now that the regular season is over and the new season begins who are some of the teams/players that impressed you the most and are there any players that surprised some of you?

 

Teams that impressed me the most in NKY.

 

Brossart- first ever playoffs

Highlands-undefeated and beat St. X in biggest game ever IMO.

Simon Kenton-rolled a very good Ryle team.

Bellevue-well coached and hard hitting team with solid athletes.

 

Players that were most impressive.

 

Ricky Buckler-rushing stats, scoring stats and kid never leaves the field.

Miles Simpson-runs like an NFL back and makes defenders look silly at times.

Travis Elliot-attitude or not the kid is impressive for a sophomore.

Nick West-Mr Offense- can run and throw..will be a good college QB.

Brandon Roller- hardest hitting LB in the state and has nose for ball.

GRC impressed me. With our schedule, I never dreamed we would end the season 7-3 and wins over Henry Clay, Lafayette, and Corbin. Also didn't think we would lose to Dunbar either.

Going into the season didn't most pick Ryle to finsh fourth in NKY 6A???? Next year they will have a ton coming back???

Ryle will be strong for the next 3 yrs minimum.

Michael Kremer Campbell County, No. 1 passer in the state. Playing in the toughest 6a district in the state.

Raceland's Tyler Farley put together a very impressive season this year under center.

Passed for 1275 yards after 9 games.

Don't forget Somerset, coming off a 5-6 season, lost their coach on the Monday before their one scrimmage then went 10-0 under the guidance of new head coach and former defensive coordinator Robby Lucas. They defeated 5A district champion Pulaski County, 4A district runner-up Knox Central and destroyed Danville 48-7 for the first win against the Ads in 10 years. Lucas should be very much in the running for Coach of the Year. The undefeated regular season for the Briar Jumpers was the first since 1984.

Absolutely not. Maybe one of the most noteworthy one-year turnarounds in KY HS football in a long, long time.
